  1. Murray State wins the OVC for the third and final auto bid of the day.
  2. Bid theft watch: Butler down 6 late in the first half in the Horizon semis.
  3. East Tennessee State wins the Atlantic Sun.
  4. Winthrop wins the Big South auto bid, and regular season champ Coastal Carolina is (again, likely very briefly) relegated to the consideration board.
  5. Despite some inexplicable losses, Duke should be a tough out in the tourney, and probably should be the fourth 1 seed.
  6. Err...no. Win it all and they'll probably sneak into the 8-9 game. Lose today, they might not make it in.
  7. Yeah, the Hawks have also already clinched a better record than Edmonton (actually, they did it prior to the olympics) and Toronto.
  8. 3 more auto bids to be decided today from the OVC, A-Sun and Big South.
  9. Added Cornell's statistical profile to the first post, at least everything that the committee would see (well, all the summary info. I'll leave the details out because it would make the post enormous once all 65+ are in there). Last 12 games is no longer on the sheet, as well as the specific RPI. I'm pulling records vs top 25/50/100/200+ off Pomeroy's site, since I can quickly eyeball the records there.
  10. First auto bid could be clinched tonight if Cornell wins. EDIT: And Cornell wins. First bid set!
  11. There are a surprisingly high amount of brackets that have Illinois in at this point. That win at Wisconsin has a LOT of weight. The bubble overall is so weak this year that a win like that really sticks out. I'm not saying they're safely in now, but I really think they'd be safe if they can win 1 of their next 2 against Wisconsin.
  12. I think saying directly that the Jay Cutler trade didn't work out because he led the league in picks in his first year with the Bears is likely the point at which people vehemently disagreed, while ignoring any and all positives and potential and refusing to address either.
  13. I'm saying Cutler didn't improve our situation, and since he didn't, I'd rather just have the two first-round draft picks back. If Cutler were the only difference between the 2008 and 2009 team, you might have a more valid argument.
  14. Again, this is where we'll have to respectfully disagree. I've seen too many Lovie Smith teams win seven to nine games with ball control. Read: phenomenal defense and special teams. Funny how much better a defense looks when the other team isn't given the ball in great field position 26 times through picks. I think the primary difference in philosophy exists because you seem to think the Bears did well because of their "ball control" offense rather than in spite of it.

  16. Lunardi still has us in??? I think we're in provided we beat Wisconsin on Sunday, too many quality wins not to get in plus, if past precedent means anything, I can recall an 18-13 or so, Arizona getting in last year. Arizona had just as many big wins last year without the disaster losses we've had. I think we need to win 2 in a row vs. Wisconsin. Hopefully Lunardi has good info. Illinois has been surprisingly good on the road, too, though, better than all the other bubble teams.
  17. Of course the Bulls downgraded their team short-term. Even before the trade, they didn't have enough valid depth to withstand an injury to one of their big 3 (Rose, Noah, Deng). Lately, all 3 of them have been either out injured or playing hurt. Nobody should even think for a second that the Bulls front office actually thinks they improved the current team with the trades. They made the trades in preparation for the summer. Really, the stupidest thing the Bulls have done of late is play Noah for 27 minutes against Portland with an injury that only truly heals with rest. And the insinuation for what, the third game in a row now, that Rose apparently doesn't care is at the same time subjective, ignorant, and baseless.
  18. You can't possibly be that ignorant, can you?
  19. The disconcerting thing about the Pac-10 is that the only team with more than a single decent (read: top 50) non-con win is ineligible for the postseason.
  20. Well, by declaring "one bid" leagues, I'm arguing that none of the teams in the league are at-large worthy, in such case that whoever wins the auto bid would be placed below all at-large qualifiers in the bracket. Teams like Gonzaga or Butler are very likely at-large worthy even if they lose in their tournament's first round (or the first game they play in their tournament), so even if they win the auto bid and the league technically ends up with one bid, that team is still among the at-large mix.
  21. To piggy back onto this, other potential 1-bid leagues: MAAC, Colonial, MVC, C-USA, Pac-10 I like the scoring and minute balance of Murray State as much as the next guy, but I think the OVC belongs somewhere on this list. My mistake, I assumed it was on the first list. So that's potentially 21 one-bid leagues.

  23. I'll trade you Greg Olsen for your first rounder...
  24. John Gasaway chooses Evan Turner as player of the year over a certain Kentucky freshman, but not that Kentucky freshman.
  25. Lipscomb's profile: Record vs top 50: 0-2 Record vs top 100: 0-4 Record vs 200+: 10-6 Road/Neutral record: 8-8 That's not screaming 12 seed to you?
