  1. It's speculated that the Cubs won't have to send any compensation SD's way, since Moorad wanted Byrnes as GM anyway, and he doesn't consider going from GM of the Padres to GM of the Cubs to be a lateral move.
  2. Vitters or Rhee, possibly.
  3. Yeah, it's been posted 3 times, but it's still very confusing. What's done? Hoyer? Or Theo? Or both? In a surprise move, the Cubs have actually taken every other club's GM and formed a college of GMs.
  4. New title: Theo (and friends?) coming to Chicago!?
  5. If a Boston source is saying it's done, then it's done.
  6. I've always imagined you as a cross between a Spanish Don and a Batman villain. That's the way I've always pronounced it in my head. "Bane Don" Sort of like this:

  8. I feel the same way, and then a little sad because every other team in baseball has had a real front office for years. EVERY? Dodgers? I should have put almost, in retrospect.

  10. Hollinger analyzes Rose v CP3: http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/7113098/nba-derrick-rose-better-chris-paul
  11. I'd probably have had Rose 6th ahead of Kobe and CP3. Maybe 5th ahead of Dirk, even. No doubt 1-2-3 is James, Howard and Wade, though.
  12. My bad, guys.
  13. Shouldn't have sat Nelson. On the plus side, the Chicago D and Billy Cundiff may win it for me this week yet.
  14. Probably going to East Lansing, I'd suspect.
  15. The faulty assumption that naysayers keep running with is that there are only 2 options for the Cubs: Theo or nobody. Because of this, people project that the Cubs are "all-in" on Epstein, and will be left with nothing if they walk away. That they have to cater to the Red Sox demands, or they'll have nobody to GM for the next year. Regardless of the chances Epstein comes to the Cubs (and the chances are still near-certain with how Henry was talking on the radio Friday), the Cubs still have about 5-6 options better than blowing their entire existing farm system for option 1. And if, by some giant snafu by Red Sox ownership, Epstein doesn't come to the Cubs and stays with the Sox, not only do they get left with a lame duck GM for a year that wants nothing to do with ownership, they'll basically be telling every future high-end GM candidate not to even bother with their franchise. And to think last week I didn't think the Sox could screw things up worse than panicking and getting rid of Francona and Epstein.
  16. It's a made up quote.
  17. The even more frustrating thing is that this is a winnable game if Zook isn't an idiot. It's not the kind of game that is winnable when you waste chances.
  18. Yep, this is throw the remote at the TV frustrating.
  19. I can't get over that OSU has zero yards passing and leads by 10 on account of a turnover and the opening drive.
  20. This isn't true. He said that he'd love to have Theo as the GM for 20 years. Rest of the quote, please. You can find it in this thread several times. Here is the actual quote:
  21. Henry knows that Theo's time in Boston is up. He said so himself on Boston radio yesterday. Everything else is just posturing.
  22. Maybe now Zook will go for it on 4th down in opposing territory, realizing that the team actually needs to score to win.
  23. It was 4th and 5 from the 32 too. It wasn't like it was 4th and a mile. That's just playing not to lose the game. Overly conservative. Hell, even if it's 4th and goal from the 32 and the wind is howling 50 MPH into your face, you still don't punt it.
  24. I don't see why you'd want to call time outs there with 20 seconds left just to get the ball back at the 10. I also don't see why you'd punt from the opponent's 32. Ever.
