  1. The only reason I don't want the Hawks to get the 6 seed is that I think they match up poorly with LA, and LA is going to win the scrum for the 3 spot.
  2. Gordon finished 9-9 on three pointers, a feat tying an NBA record that had been achieved twice before. Once by Latrell Sprewell, and once by...Ben Gordon. EDIT: Unfortunately, he also blew the game for them, fouling on a layup up 3 with 10 seconds to play. Layup went in for an and-1, and the free throw was missed and putback by Javale McGee and Denver won by 1.
  3. The Hawks are now as close to having the best record in hockey as they are to falling out of the playoff race.
  4. To get to 50 wins, which was largely considered the top end of possibility for this year coming in, the Bulls need to finish just 11-6.
  5. Ben Gordon has 42 points on 17 shots tonight...through three quarters.
  6. Who's being an internet tough guy? I was just kind of hoping this thread had reached its nadir of crazy Illini ranting, and yet it continues to reach lower.
  7. Please stop saying stupid things so I don't have to put you on ignore too.

  9. It's a poll average. It's based on the perception of such ESPN luminaries as Jim Bowden, Mark Mulder, and Jim Caple.
  10. I flipped a coin (literally) between Lindor and Baez, and it came up tails. Lindor it was.
  11. I think you have been and continue to be reading way too much into things said in the media.
  12. To say he failed at the football hire when it's 3 months into the hire and not a single recruit has played nor a game has been played yet is a clear indication that your expectations are significantly out of whack. They offered good money to their #1 football candidate and he turned it down. If they offer good money to Smart and he turns it down, how is that the AD's fault again?
  13. You know, Beckman is undefeated at Illinois. So is whoever the next basketball coach turns out to be. Beckman hasn't won a game at Illinois, and he's been here months already. He's had his chance.
  14. 1. Scioscia's Tragic Illness - Trevor Bauer, Arizona 2. Calvinball - Danny Hultzen, Seattle 3. Harrys Budcrew - Dylan Bundy, Baltimore 4. Mighty D-Block - Bubba Starling, KC 5. Sock it Thome - Gerritt Cole, Pittsburgh 6.Lynx - Anthony Rendon, Washington 7. Kid Rodelo - Archie Bradley, Arizona 8. Theocracy - Francisco Lindor, Cleveland 9. Quakers 10. 15. Iowa it is... If we're really basing jobs on spring training performance, which it seems like we are, then I don't know if Wood is going to make Iowa. Does Tennessee have any open spots? I know you're being obtuse on purpose, but how would you prefer to plan the rotation? Garza, Dempster, and Maholm have no options, so they're in. Wells is probably on the bottom of the list, so he's in the pen. So that makes it down to Samardzija, Volstad and Wood for two spots at the moment, and the management has to base it on something besides "who Kyle likes the best". Samardzija is likely good for 150 innings tops this year, and who knows if Dempster is going to be on the roster come July. Better to have Wood continuing to throw regularly in Iowa than sitting him on the bench and using him for spot starts only (i.e. Wells). Then, if there is an injury, or when Samardzija hits his innings limit, or when Demp is traded, the Cubs have someone valuable to slide into the rotation right away, and don't miss a beat.
  16. So, John, are we going to really open up that playbook for me next year?
  17. Huh, oddly enough, if Kansas and Florida State win, my sweet 16 will have 14 of 16 teams, missing Ohio and Louisville.
  18. The opponent scoring more than them?
  19. Because Lehigh is actually a half-decent team. Norfolk State should have been a 16.
  20. Not sure of a good place for this, but this is my thread, so I'll just shill myself here... I'm in a blogging contest over at TeamRankings.com and qualified for the second round. I'm not sure if I'll get to the third (4 advance) since most of the rest of the group has, you know, blogs, but hey, I got one article published, and I'll get another as soon as I finish it. My next article is going to be analyzing the success of the "pod system" after 10 years of it.
  21. He's waiting for Soler to sign.
  22. And now Isner beat Djokovic, and advances to the Indian Wells final against the Nadal/Federer winner.
  23. You heard Tim, folks, everybody queue up the remainder of the 2012 Cubs roster.
  24. @JohnGasaway: Lesson of the day: If you're standing behind the FT line, in the name of all that is holy stay there.
  25. You're up.
