  1. Fun fact: Alfonso Soriano has been both the worst hitting LF and the best fielding LF in the majors this season, and the only major league LF regular that has yet to hit a home run (Chone Figgins has 2).

    Week 6

Carlos Ruiz in for an injured Ramon Hernandez.
  3. Stewart's fWAR is heavily influenced by his negative fielding and baserunning ratings.
  4. I'm going to have to print a fresh batch of fan club membership applications. I expect numbers to be growing very soon. Of course, it doesn't really mean that either of them have been good offensively (and oddly enough Ramirez seems to be rating better defensively early on). However, Stewart's peripheral stats are miles better and project for his improvement more than Ramirez's.
  5. As of today, Ian Stewart actually has a higher OPS than Aramis Ramirez. (.637 to .623)
  6. Also, FYI (and so I can find it easily when I need it), here is the article that details when specific statistics stabilize for a position player during the year: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/when-samples-become-reliable/
  7. He's 12th in baseball now in walk rate. Just behind Adam Dunn.
  8. What are you talking about? Camp was ready to go.
  9. Also for those of you that were wondering, that was the first time this year the Cubs went back-to-back, and the first time since last August.
  10. And to think the Cubs have the Mets beat on Pythagorean records.
  11. Gameday had ball 2 practically down the middle.
  12. He's not due up until 7th unless the Dodgers get to cheat. Bah, I saw the pitcher was due up first and didn't realize they double switched.
  13. Kemp due up 4th in the 9th, so...a 1-2-3 inning would be fantastic. I just hope the hitters manage to hit everything at defenders. And that the defenders make the play right.
  14. He's never going to hit for power, so the biggest thing holding him back at this point is his walk rate, which was atrocious coming into today.
  15. Campana has some weird fascination with auto-bunting when a runner is on first.
  16. I changed my mind. Wood's biggest mistake that inning was that he was leaving his fastball up, which may have been a product of not pitching for three weeks.
  17. Curious, what would qualify as a doom and gloom person right now? Watching wood walk the leadoff hitter and give up 2 runs in the 8th is going to bring out a few negative thoughts in anybody. He got the leadoff hitter out on one pitch, actually. The only real mistake was just not putting Kemp on with first base open.
  18. Really, we're going to cite Wood's ERA to this point after pitching three innings?
  19. Or maybe this Matt Kemp guy is just pretty good right now and you have to just accept he'll get his at some point in the game.
  20. Somebody's getting squeezed, and for once it's not a Cub pitcher.
