  1. PSU's been terrible a lot over the past 10 years. This is just the first time Illinois has been able to take advantage of it.
  2. Illinois' largest win over PSU since 2005.
  3. Good read from Pomeroy as to a better way to qualify quality wins: http://kenpom.com/blog/index.php/weblog/entry/fairness_in_quality_wins
  4. Odd quirk, Indiana has yet to beat anyone in the Pomeroy top 100.
  5. Lol if you're being serious. Isn't that Erik's alias? That would make a lot of sense. No, it's Cynosure's alias. Same crazy, but an actual Chicago fan. Mostly sticks to hockey insanity though. Originally banned for actively rooting against Cubs in hopes to be right about a point, to the extent of trolling game threads cheering when they did poorly.
  6. Well, if I wasn't convinced the FO made the smart play in re-signing Cutler, the fact that Reilly hates it basically seals it.
  7. Interesting arbitrary cutoff of 3 years, since the previous two years he played every game necessary. Basically, the point is you don't string Cutler around another year just in the name of finding a sure thing, since there are no sure things. Same thing with Forte, you want your best players playing with an assurance that the team wants you, so you give them longer term deals so that's one less thing on their minds when the games are being played.
  8. This guy is a professional sportswriter and doesn't understand guaranteed money. No, it isn't. The 7 years by itself is pretty meaningless, but I'd be surprised if that isn't a sign that the money is pretty huge as well. If the Schefter tweet turns out to be accurate, that would probably leave the Bears stuck in the 15th-23rd best QB situation overall (taking into account play and contract) in the league for the next few years. Of course, if they got rid of him, there would be no guarantee that they would get someone better. Efficiency is worth only so much when the other available options are so terrible, and nobody in the draft is going to help them for 2-3 years.
  9. Also, I am so glad that the people running the team are so much smarter than the local media and fan base.
  10. Jay Cutler is #1 trending on Twitter. I refuse to look, though.
  11. Groce all about this TO. Laughed at the time, too. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y157/UIHuskie/GroceCallsTimeoutHoosiers.gif
  12. One more good defensive play to finally end it.
  13. Have to at least try to stop or slow the ball there.
  14. Tracy with the chance to ice it here.
  15. Miss three freebies in a row when they can seal the game. Terrible.
  16. Same as usual, great D, avert your eyes O.
  17. So many missed open threes. Rice is the only one that can hit jumpshots today.
  18. Tied at the half, Indiana shooting 50% from 3 and outrebounding Illinois, Illini staying in it with steals and easy buckets.
  19. All 3 Illini bigs with 2 fouls each already, Groce had enough on the last one and got T'd up. Illinois hasn't been able to shoot, rebound, or draw fouls, and were still somehow leading.
  20. Only if the offense is clicking. Usually it'll keep any game close.
  21. Kevin Butler's son, nice.
  22. That sounds like a guy who is coming back. He's not right about Mills, but appreciate the sentiment. Maybe he meant Mills plays every game like it's the Pro Bowl, no contact.
  23. Champion Baptist College is playing their fourth and final D1 opponent tonight, currently trailing 3-9 Southern U 99-10. Southern set the NCAA record for unanswered points to start a game with 44.
  24. The real question is, was Cutler the best player on either team yesterday?
  25. As for Illinois, they're an odd beast this year, with only 3 players returning with any meaningful minutes in Egwu, Abrams and Bertrand. Two incoming transfers, Ray Rice and Jon Ekey, provide the bulk of the new minutes, and both have been the best offensive players the team has. Freshmen Kendrick Nunn, Malcolm Hill, Jaylon Tate, Austin Colbert and Maverick Morgan are gradually getting into the flow of play more, with Tate arguably already the best PG option on the team. Guard-wise, Abrams feels like he has to lead, which leads to terrible shot selection for a player that just can't score. Rice and Ekey are the best outside shot options until Nunn gets going. Front-court, it's all on Egwu until Colbert and Morgan step it up, and yes, those are the only three front court options on the team this season. As long as Egwu stays out of foul trouble, Illinois is fantastic. Soon as he goes down, their rebounding and post presence disappears completely, and they can be beaten by anyone.
