  1. It's a 0-0 game in the 9th. Castillo is arguably the Cubs best hitter. ...one can say that about almost the entire lineup, though.
  2. Because it's opening day, and a long season.
  3. Those pitchers are going to get a stern talking to through the media by Ryno. Just surprised Ryno didn't throw the challenge on Rios' HR for not playing the game the right way.
  4. So...what have we learned thus far on National Jump to Conclusions Day ?
  5. I am all on board if the only thing Castro needed to hear was "Starlin, it's OK to swing at the first pitch if it's hittable. Knock yourself out."
  6. Cubs have only drafted 1 HS pitcher in the first round since 1997 (Mark Pawelek - 2005). Prior to that, the Cubs actually drafted four consecutive HS pitchers with their 1st round picks (1997 - Jon Garland, 1996 - Todd Noel, 1995 - Kerry Wood, 1994 - Jayson Peterson). Which actually provides a good example of the volatility of drafting a HS pitcher.
  7. Only three of the past 16 1 seeds have made the Final Four. The prior two did win it all.
  8. Yep, counting on Braun being suspended again purely on spite.
  9. More firsts: - First time Bo Ryan's Wisconsin team has beaten a team seeded higher than them. - First time Northwestern has beaten a Final Four team on the road (seriously, most inexplicable result of the year, easy).
  10. Wisky has now beaten Arizona, Florida, Virginia, Michigan and MSU this season.
  11. Thanks to Wisky tonight, if Michigan wins tomorrow, my 6yo son is going to win $500 for his bracket.
  12. Or Arizona can get the ball and not take a shot.
  13. Hell, if Wisconsin gets the ball here, just toss the ball on the Wisconsin side of the court. AZ is out of timeouts and won't get a shot off in 2 seconds.
  14. Got to agree with Gasaway as to Wisconsin's last possession in regulation. ‏@JohnGasaway 2m I understand hero-ball is the custom in that situation, but I thought we were clear by this point on who the hero should be.
  15. Wisconsin 54, Arizona 52 with a minute left. EDIT: Now tied with 30 seconds left, Wisconsin can hold for last shot.
  16. Wood was the same age as me, and even though I grew up watching Sandberg, the way he left and everything that's happened since has clouded my perception of him, whereas Wood is responsible for probably my two favorite Cub moments of the last 20 years, and has done nothing since to diminish that.
  17. For those counting, that's 3 B1G teams, 2 SEC teams, 1 Pac-12 team, 1 A-10 team, and 1 AAC team in the Elite Eight.
  18. Sure, a Shark's a Shark, but Delgado could be anything! He could even be the next Shark!
  19. He's got a major league quality fastball and a huge build. Even if that projects him to reliever, he's got tools and build that project him well without him having to develop much.
  20. I'm amazed Frazier still isn't off the board at this point.
  21. Still early and Beede could have been dinged by his horrible outing. That said, what do you do with Rodon? If his velo comes back in the second half of the year, is it just his thing at that point? How does that account in his draft position? Maybe he drops to 4, the Cubs organization thanks their lucky stars, and drafts him immediately.
  22. It was probably the guy Ricketts hired to head up the analytics department when Hendry was still there...what was his name, Ari Kaplan or something?
  23. I feel like my dream job passed me by. I left out the part where the source said they had to let the guy go, so count your blessings. OHH... Fleita. I was going to say I always wondered what Kenney did for the team.
  24. First time all four 4 seeds made the sweet 16.
  25. Well, don't hit him in the head with it, something he can field would be nice.
