    Illini just fired their DC after 4 games in his first year, in case you wanted to know how things are going over there. Granted, it probably has a lot to do with the penalties and 9 man defenses twice in the past 2 weeks against OSU and Duke.

    I'm mostly fascinated in how the time traveller arrived here from 1988, and if they've had a chance to be introduced to all the new wonderful things we've developed as a society since then. Baseball in particular, people have discovered that pitcher wins are basically a useless statistic, and game winning RBI is so worthless in terms of actually determining value, even the most hardened idiot stopped using it.

    6 games left. PCA at 10.5 fWAR, still first in offensive runs over average and first in defensive runs over average. Can he hold off Alvarez on offense and Witt on defense? EDIT: It adjusted overnight to 10.4, offense dipped a bit so he's just behind Alvarez, 55.9 to 56.2.

    Cubs as a team have now scored 835 runs on the season. Only 3 other teams in MLB have scored even 735 runs on the season, and no one in the AL (just the Brewers, Nats and Dodgers)

    In a thread full of sad sacks, this is the most hyperbolic post of the thread. The Cubs won and have practically clinched a playoff spot, Bregman doesn't have any broken bones, Caleb's injury isn't a torn Achilles (so likely not season ending) and happened week 2, the Bears nearly won a game that needed one of about 10 things to break their way and just didn't in the sloppiest environment imaginable. Meanwhile, there have been days in Chicago sports history that include a thrown World Series that broke the White Sox franchise for decades, a 108 year championship gap, and a career ending injury to the reigning MVP that not only destroyed the Bulls season, it destroyed the next 15 years of the franchise.

    Kyler Murray has been ruled inactive, so it'll be Carson Wentz starting for MIN. Wentz is 4-0 in his career playing against the Bears.

    Speaking of crazy stats... I hadn't realized just how bad Ke'Bryan Hayes was this season. He has an OPS+ of 21, which is one of the worst marks of all time, and in 89 games played he has 8 RBI, which seems hard to even do on purpose.

    23 years ago this place was started as an escape from the ignorant ranting forums at more popular places like ESPN or Cubs.com. Now those forums are long gone and this is the only real game in town for forum discussion, and the game threads and discussions reflect it.
