I want to believe that there was some next-level thinking behind it that we don't understand, but I think he just tilted and made a mistake. Honestly, I think he basically had to go all in last year as the window was really short and they were definitely the best team in baseball last year. Didn't end up working out in the end but it wasn't the wrong play at the time.
2-4 against the Cardinals, too. 4 wins against the Dodgers. 6-20 against probable NL playoff teams The only problem being that this is the last game the Mets will play against a probable NL playoff team.
The one who was suspended before anyone even knew what happened and is probably never going to play a game for them now? Sure, that one. What's there to say? "He should be suspended!" ...well, he was. "He should be kicked off the team!" ...well, he'll probably be kicked off the team when they get back home. I just heard about it briefly. Was curious what this meant to the team. Was this a bench guy or someone projected to do something? Darius Paul, a player already suspended for last year for getting into trouble. He got a second chance from Groce already, he won't do anything. Expectations were extremely low already for him at this point.
2 runs in 4 innings against a team that has actually been doing well offensively for a while isn't bad at all. I was more referring to the amount of home runs he gives up. The overall results are fine but 6 hits in 4 innings is poor. His ability to scatter the base runners he allows has been quite remarkable so far as a Cub. A fly ball pitcher against an uppercut swing team in the biggest home run park in MLB on a hot day was never going to be a recipe for a shutout. 2 in 4 innings should have been about the expectation.

Utley: .208 AVG, .273 OBP, .313 SLG, .586 OPS, .255 wOBA Castro: .242 AVG, .276 OBP, .309 SLG, .585 OPS, .254 wOBA I want really no part of Utley on this team. I'd love, say, 2011 Utley, but then I'd love 2011 Castro also.
Shout out for the 5 2/3 scoreless innings by the pen today, including Richard, Grimm, Strop and Rondon. The only two hits they allowed were both infield dribblers.
