Now what's all this drivel about anticipating the negative outcome ?? I'm just saying with first base open and Castro behind him being generally less of an XBH threat, I'd expect they pitch around Coughlan...they didn't and the Cubs scored. More to the point, this team has made 6 XBH in their last 6 games. I can't imagine why the other teams aren't challenging every hitter, every AB. When the norm is a negative outcome, you tend to expect a negative outcome. The point is this...In this run environment, even the best hitters have a negative outcome 3 out of 5 times at the plate, and an average hitter has a negative outcome more than 2 of 3 times. So sure, you can expect a negative outcome and be right more often than not, but it's not going to lead to anything productive. When there's a string of bashing posts about nearly every Cub every time to the plate, I start to wonder if anyone in the thread is actually still rooting for the team to do well.
