He's already down to 750 OPS against RHP for the season and pretty weak overall in the second half while Murphy is 830 vs RHP and scorching hot in the second half. I don't think they'll be riding the Bote train over Murphy much at all. That's kind of why they got him. I think they got him because it is questionable what they'll get from Bryant the rest of the year. He fills the gap until Bryant is as close to 100% as he'll get. Then he's insurance on Bote as well. If everything goes right, I don't think he (Murphy) starts much. I think I've given sufficient caveats as to the many things that could go "not right". I really think you're overestimating how much Bote is going to play. He's been a part time starter ever since he's been up, and that's been with KB hurt & without Murphy. Now, you acquire one of the hottest hitters in the league (post ASB). I would guess the plan is for Murphy to be the everyday 2B, play 7 innings, get a lead, and then be subbed out for Russell while Javy is moved from SS over to 2B when the team is at full strength (if KB is ever alive again). I think they got him because they've had a replacement level player playing at SS over the last couple of months. Plus, the offense as a whole, obviously, hasn't been great either since the break.
