Wait a few weeks. Yeah, never underestimate the Cubbie game threads. Best swirl of emotion in sports. Read the last two pages in this thread. For a hockey thread, it's pretty close to a May Cubs game. People are already jumping off the ship and writing the team off in the playoffs because they blew a three goal lead against a team with insane firepower that the Sharks have. Oh yeah, we still ended up winning the game too.

Good win. But this is becoming worse than a Cubs game thread.

I loved Tony as a player but he wanted it to be the Tony show. He wanted to do his own thing, not stay within the offense or help younger guys. They told him he needed to buy in and work within the system or his playing time would drop. He took his ball and went home. I like the first part of that statement. SIU's biggest problem this year was that no one wanted to step up and be 'the guy.' Sounds like Freeman has the attitude where he wants the ball in his hands, and that's actually what I like to hear. The helping of the younger guys concerns me, but it'll be two years since he last played a game at Iowa when he steps on the court next year for us. I'm hoping he's matured a little since then and from all accounts that I've seen and heard from him, he has.

and no one misses him. at all. His only chance at starting is if Salmons takes over the 2 guard and I doubt that. Lindsay Hunter played. Wow. He was almost in coach mode because he couldn't even get junk time. I was actually talking about Nocioni, but I guess it applies to Deng as well. The team is doing okay right now without either,. I liked Nocioni actually. I like Salmons better, but Noc could shoot the three, play some defense, and was a tough player for his size. If he hadn't shot so poorly early on, he would have stayed. He is labeled as a player who takes pot shots (same goes for Brad Miller!), but I never saw him intentionally try to take down a person out of vengeance. John Salmons is so much better than Andres Nocioni that it's absolutely no comparison.

The NIT: What the SEC is good for.

Technically, the Bulls won. But they beat a Wizards team without Gilbert Arenas, Caron Butler, Brendan Haywood, Darius Songaila, Etan Thomas, and DeShawn Stevenson by 2 points. It's too late in the season to care about how we win games IMO. Just get the win and move onto the next game. Besides, the Bulls are an absolutely awful road team so any road victory is a godsend. Yeah, I have no complaints tonight. We got a win on the road; that's all you can ask for when regarding this team. We have 4 wins in our last 5 games, so hopefully this team can keep it going. Tomorrow's game is going to be pivotal because if we win, I think we'll have a leg up for that 7th seed.

With Clifton and Tauscher getting up there in age, this team needs to focus on drafting another tackle because the past picks the last few years haven't panned out. I recommend we draft Gerald Cadogan out of PSU.

Before this game started, I thought it'd easily be the best NIT game I've ever seen. Through a half, it's lived up to those expectations. Bradley won a tournament game (I have no idea what other one it was) on a ridiculous 85 footer at the horn.

That should be fun. I'm expecting you guys to win though because I don't think the Bears have ever lost on SNF and I don't think the Packers have ever won on SNF. Not to mention besides that ridiculous fluke of a game last year in Green Bay, you guys have had our number at Lambeau ever since Lovie became head coach.

I'm not too upset about it because Tiller is about the toughest player on the team, and has been banged up on fouls before and still taken the FTs. Honestly I would've been more comfortable with him taking them, and I'm pretty sure Anderson would've been too. Plus the whole English being a worse shooter and a freshman and cold off the bench, etc. Either way though Tiller likely only needed to make one considering how Marquette goofed and stepped over the line. I guess that means they could've tied it at the end, but it rings hollow to me, especially considering that if it weren't for overzealous officiating they likely would've lost by 15. Well yeah, that's why I said it probably shouldn't have even come to that point anyway. Anyway, congrats. The days from now until Thursday or Friday are some of the best you'll have. I just wish we could get back to the tournament, let alone making the Sweet 16 again.

What Williams really should've been pissed about was when Tiller was "injured" and then went right back to the scorer's table when the timeout was called. That's a rule that needs to be changed because that was a joke, plain and simple. I understand the guy that they substituted in was a worse FT shooter than Tiller, but that still doesn't make that right. It probably shouldn't have came down to that point in the game anyway, but I thought that was ridiculous.

I've never seen a team miss as many bunnies as Marquette has. Wow.

Nice to finally get a regulation win. Hopefully that gets this thing turned around a little bit.

Receiver is a little top heavy, but lacking depth. QB is a big question mark after Bomar. OT is weak at best, tight end is solid, DE is ok, DT is decently deep and OLB is pretty good. I like the ILBs left, but that could be my SEC bias. Safety I'm not real sure about - don't know much about the guys left. For the Raiders, I'd probably look at interior offensive line or corner. Hope that helps. Herman Johnson and Jonathan Luigs are the best player still available, imo, if you want interior OL. The corners are nothing to write home about. And WR and RB is the best position right now looking at that list. I like Mickens, I think he'd be a good fit for a team needing depth at that position.

In the bit that I've seen (we have the Kansas-Dayton game here), OSU's offense consists of Eaton driving and kicking to a wide open shooter on the wing. You would think you'd start guarding the perimeter more but apparently that makes too much sense.

Harden's been some kind of awful these two tournament games.

I believe he'll play, but how much will be the question. I don't see him getting anything over 15-20 minutes. Can a broken bone in your foot heal in a little over a month?

Hellllllll yeah. I picked Marquette to beat you guys even with D-James out but I realized those odds probably wouldn't have been very good. A lot of people in my money pool have Mizzou going to the Elite Eight and some even to the Final Four. Now this looks a little better.

It was probably his worst game of the year. He's never had any good success against the Lakers. Considering how good he's been most of the year, I'd say this is an aberration more than anything.
