Well now it makes sense why so many people hate him. I don't understand why people thought he was a big HR hitter but if that's what they thought, then I guess that makes sense why they're disappointed in what he's done this year. My concern when we got him wasn't his power numbers, but rather his injury history. He's held up far better than I think most of us thought. I thought he'd have more XBH's and obviously a higher slugging percentage. But his production isn't too far off of what I initially thought he'd do here.

And even if you don't care for his OPS, its far from a "pathetic season."

Not saying I agreed with Bradley, just pointing out an example of a RF in the very recent past that was bad but seemed like he got a free pass from the Wrigley faithful.

the thing i don't understand about him is that he seems to have no concept of what it's like to be a public figure and professional athlete. don't want people saying you've had a [expletive] year when you go out to dinner? then either play better, order a pizza, or sign a small contract with the marlins and you'll have that peace and quiet. or become an accountant, nobody will boo you when you're out at dinner if you screw up, except if you run into one of your customers. but you signed a big contract with a team in the third-largest city in america; that team has a very passionate and large fan base and when you play poorly, you're going to hear about it. almost every star in the game seems to know how to tune out the bad stuff; milton just lets it eat at him more and more. Agreed but you have to be a pretty big douche to say something negative to a guy while he's eating dinner.

yeah plus aramis got hurt with no reasonable backup to be found, fontenot tanked and soto either sucked or was hurt. that's a lot of bad production from a number of positions and we don't have a monster like pujols to carry the lineup. It was a pretty awful cocktail of obvious things (fontenot, lack of health/depth at corner IF/OF positions) going wrong, and not so obvious things (Harden being healthy-ish but no good for so long, Marmol's wildness, Soriano falling apart, Soto sucking, etc..) going wrong. I'm really ready for this year to be over with. I'm simply amazed we were able to stay afloat for as long as we did and that we were right with the Cards at the beginning of this month, despite all the problems we've had all season with the majority of this team. This last month has been absolute hell.

Man, that would SUCK. Who's the RF that's going to replace him? Rule out all of the good FA outfielders because they're not going to be able to sign guys like Holliday or Bay. This should be interesting. You know you're allowed to make trades in major league baseball, right? And how do you know they wouldn't have a chance at Holliday or Bay? You really think they'd spend $15 million/year on one of those two guys? The new ownership situation will help but I still don't think they're going to be gigantic spenders in the offseason. What is this based on? He's now been this low .800's OPS for 3 of the last 5 seasons. The odds are more in favor of him being that than being the great hitter he was for like 600 at-bats spread out over 07 and 08. And I don't get the comparison to the cost cutting moves that have been made. Mark DeRosa was GOOD last year. Kerry Wood was GOOD last year. They were both worth what they were making. Bradley, despite the high OBP, has not been worth what he's making. If somebody offered to take Soriano off our hands, would you say "no, he's at his lowest possible value right now!". No, of course you wouldn't. You'd be happy to get rid of the contract. I'd be happy to get rid of Bradley's contract. Oh well, I guess I'm ridiculous for wanting a right fielder who can actually slug higher than .450 Why did you compare Soriano's contract to Bradley's. Bradley has two years left on his while Soriano has five. Oh, and Soriano's only getting paid $8 million more a year than Bradley is. You would think the organization and the fans would have learned their lesson the first 3 or 4 times its come back to bite us in the ass, but apparently not.

Some people are going to bash him no matter what he does because they feel like he's either the sole reason or a major part of the reason why we're not that good this year. It's false, but that's their reasoning.

I'm sure they'll try to do everything they can to ship Bradley out of here in the offseason. And then I'm sure there's going to be tons of idiots blasting Bradley next year when he has a good season asking, "Why couldn't he do that with us?" I love Milton. He's probably one of my favorite players on this piece of [expletive] team. Again if you want to find a scapegoat for this team, look at the numerous black holes in the lineup and the bullpen for your goat(s).
