  1. HOUSTON HERE WE COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let's go get em boys!!! :x
  2. And what was Dubois' OPS as a PH??? That's true. The .306 OBP with an average of .293 tells me the guy never takes a walk, which limits his effectiveness. I'm beating my head against the wall cause Macias didn't take a walk. 4-3 is better than 5-3. The guys a bench player who can play a bunch of positions. You want to bring back DuBois, who has a lower obp and can't play any positions? Yeah, Dubois will be a career sub-.300 OBP guy. He's a better offensive player than Macias by a fair margin even with his struggles, if that's what you're asking. How's he doing w/ Cleveland? 2005 OPS Macias -- .659 Cubois -- .766 Next question, please. Does the NL have a DH? No, but the NL does have PH's.
  3. While I agree that our line-up as a whole is not nearly patient enough---in the role that Macias has--patience is not really as important as for an everyday player. I just think people tend to get on him a little toooooo much
  4. Some of you guys are just jerks--I am not trying to be argumentative, but come on--Jose Macias is nearly hitting .300 as a sub and you still think he has not done anything--NOT FAIR!!!!!
  5. ok--anyone else watching the Astros/Pirates. Pirates are up 4-0. If they can hold them off, then all the Cubbies have to do is throw together a little 4 game winning streak and they will be 3.5 out of WC and heading into Coors Field!!! I know it is being optimistic, but hey--why not!! Who knows with this team?!?!?!
  6. Of the constant bickering on this board about Dusty Baker and Jim Hendry? I mean, I too disagree with some of the decision that Dusty has made, but honestly--people on here think they would be happy with someone else, then he would mange for 2 years and then they would hate him too. I mean the job is not that easy!!! He has had 88 and 89 wins in his first 2 years, this year has been a disappointment for several reasons, but to think that getting rid of Dusty is going to solve all of our miserable problems is unrealistic IMO! As far as Hendry goes--I think he has done a fine job--period! He has made unbelievable trades and gotten several quality players, just hasn't been able to put it all together quite yet. I think we all just need to watch, be fans and be somewhat PATIENT. Just some opinions--not saying that either of the 2 is the greatest ever at their position, but I think they are bettter than most give them credit for. Anyone else have opinions??
  7. What is funny--you make fun of Trenidad Hubbard, but he was hitting like 357 in Iowa and he had an OBP over 400. He is a center fielder--they released him, but I guarantee he would be 100 times better than Macias. Also, I was at last nights I-Cub game and COrey looked real good. He was 3-4 and they were line drives--one to left and 2 up the middle. If he is not in center tomorrow night against the reds and letting me cheer him on from the bleachers--that is an absolute joke. But then again--this team is quickly becoming an absolute joke.
  8. Well, I will be there tomorrow and I tell you what...........I will have a hell of a good time, but I have a few things to say and I don't give a darn what they think about it....................what the heckHollandsworth--(i am sure Murton could do no better!!) I am so sick of this team and almost everyone on it--a bunch of apothetic baby losers Plain and simple--they suck!!!!!!
  9. I have decided that I am a true fan and I will obviously hang with 'em, but I have found myself asking this question alot lately-- are the cubs really underachieving and lazy or are they just not very good? I honestly don't know the answer, I thought for a long time that they were underachievers, but the more i have thought, I just really don't see how they are any better than any of these other teams. Are they really better than the Phils or the Mets--not to metion the Astros????--heck are they any better than the Brew Crew?
  10. are you kidding me Otis...............let's keep Blueheart just they way she is!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Dear Bdger, I apologize for being wrong on Walker's average, but it is still my opinion that the mentality that you have is the problem with this offense. I watch Cards and Astros score runs with less talent because they have team offenses. We try to get a hit to the right side, but we refuse to give ourself up. Now being down 4, we will all try and hit HRS and score about 3 runs today! Sincerely, ME :(

Brenly said Walker tried to do the right thing--GREAT--that'll win us alot of games. I say, cut down your darn swing and actually give yourself up and hot a little roller--he tried to go to right, but for a hit, not for a grounder I think I want our guys trying for hits, not for sacrifices, especially T-Walk. You are kidding me right Badger--you want our 280 hitter not giving himself up to get a first inning run--it is a mentality like this that is costing us soooooo many wins IMO!!

  14. Well, I was wrong, but honestly I think I would have liked that BAD line-up better than this BADDER line-up! Lawton Walker Lee Burnitz Ramierez Perez Macias Blanco Prior Ya--I am sure that ARAM will get many pitches to see!! Also, I think Prior should hit 6th in thios line-up!
  15. Well boys and girls..............after that performance last night and considering we have our ace on the mound and it is against another team chasing the wildcard AND the ASTROS never lose.............. I WOULD CONSIDER THIS AS CLOSE TO A MUST WIN AS THERE IS!!! Also, we will know alot about this team if they come out and roll over after last night...it will be interesting And, my bet is on a LF-Holly, CF Burnie and RF Lawton outfield even though I would rather see murton :(
  16. I hate to say this.................but Marquis Grissom just got released. I am sure that Dusty would love him!
  17. What an interesting post...........I am a high school coach. I am literally scared everytime my team takes the field because I know they are a reflection of me (the coach) and when they do porrly I take it very personally. I for a long time have been a Dusty apologist, with the idea that I think we are misinformed and I always figured that there is more going on than what we "common" fans know about. All of this being said, no is the time!!!!! If I am Dusty, I come out and tell the media tonight--as of tonight THINGS WILL CHANGE!! Put it all in your lap and change things. I think these guys want to win, want to succeed--sincerely I do--but I think it is time for Dusty to put the pressure on himself and say that he is taking over because what he has been doing has not been working. Tell them, that they will get redlight and not be allowed to swing like back in HS, they will do sprints for mental errors, etc. The time is now--EXTREME TIMES CALL FOR EXTREME MEASURES. Now, I know this will never happen, we will just get the regular shoulder shrug and say there is a lot of ball left--YUCK! SO for blabbering--this is the first communication I have had with anyone since that thing they called a game tonight
  18. Tough night for Barrett all around--good thing he will get a day off tomorrow Also, IMHO Novoa is far better than Welley if for no other reason--he throws strikes.....Even down here at Iowa, Welley has no idea where any of his pitches are going Are we going to see wagner here??
  19. Good afternoon everyone.........well, what a huge roadtrip we are starting off tonight. I think 4 of 6 is a must. We simply need to start making some hay and we keep talking about this team taking off and this should be the spark and that should be the spark, but honestly, the time is now. We have the pitching advantage in virtually every game this roadtrip, so.......... well, anyways, hard to have a 4-2 trip if you don't take game #1 so this is a pretty big one tonight with Z on the hill. Let's get it done!
  20. Can it get any more depressing than it is right at this very moment----no trades--terrible game--VERY DEPRESSING
  21. Anyone else sick of watching Maddux get lit up seemingly every start........so many hard hit balls! :(
  22. Well, probably another great day of being a cubbie fan..........probably no trades and they will lose...........i am really growing tired
  23. They were just expanding on it.........sounds like Roberts for Hairston is the trade being discussed. Also, they said Soriano to Twins who would then trade him to the cubs for Hill and a PTBNL We will see.........
  24. David Schuester from the score just announced that there seem to be some things developing at Wrigley field. He said that a trade that would essentially bring Soriano to the cubs for Hill is in the works and also, Hendry is negotiating with SD for Dave Roberts. I would be real happy if we got roberts!
