  1. Starting LBs today = McClellin, Williams, and Greene.
  2. Over/under on WVU-Baylor was 81, I think. Easy money on the over. More than halfway there before the half and both QBs have been terrible so far.
  3. But what are you talking about here? You're essentially talking about 2 throws. The Kyle Williams INT in the opener and the overthrown 2nd INT in Carolina. You're willing to overlook 227 other throws that have yielded the numbers of a near elite QB. Nobody has made excuses for his poor throws ( I don't think). I even said myself, those throws can't happen. But you're falling in the Bears fan meatball trap of making up [expletive] or making things seem worse because of the unfortunate timing of less than 1% of his throws.
  4. So if u can't quantify Cutler's untimely INTs......u can at least count them right? Whats he had 2 this year? One of which his team still had every chance to win an OT game. The other they still had a favorable probability of winning until Cutler's teammate fumbled. Name any others before this year.
  5. Harvin gone from World champs to 1-6 team. For a conditional 2nd-4th round pick
  6. Including preseason, the Bears projected starting OL has played together for 2 1/2 quarters this season. They played together for 15 games and 3 plays last year, and only missed 1 guy the whole time. Hell, I don't know that the line ever practiced as a whole in training camp or in practice other than leading up to Week 1. Long was out first, then Mills, then Garza and Slauson, then Bushrod, then Mills again most recently.
  7. He can get that way, but when he's playing well (2nd half of Pats game, 2nd half of Packers game, Raiders game) he goes through his progressions and often finds his 2nd and 3rd options. At times he can look like the best QB in the league, and at times he looks like it's the first time he's ever played quarterback. He's a great athlete (WR in college) and often uses his legs to keep plays alive. They like to force feed Wallace, and at times he has ball security issues. I'd be surprised if Wallace doesn't have a fumble or 2 in this game. Jarvis Landry (2nd round pick out of LSU) is coming off a great game, but he's not anything too special. Lamar Miller can make plays and the combination of him and Moreno will be tough to stop, especially if Moreno is healthy. The Dolphins have been running a lot of read option lately and the Bears haven't been the best at stopping it, so look for the Dolphins to use it early and often. The Dolphins have a terrific defense. Olivier Vernon and Cameron Wake are probably the best pair of DEs in the league. They can really pressure the QB. Brent Grimes is a terrific CB (#2 per PFF last year). Cortland Finnegan is pretty terrible these days and whoever he is guarding should have a monster day (probably Jeffrey). I think the Bears are going to have a tough time running the ball and will have some issues protecting Jay, but overall they should be able to move the ball via the pass and put up points. As both a Bears and Dolphins fan, this game will be a bummer either way. Both teams really need a win. I'd go Bears 27-24. First, for those saying this is a test of whether or not the Bears "play down to the comp," I find that sentiment odd. It's not like the Bears have shown themselves to be anything special yet, just like the Dolphins. They're basically the same team at this point, quality-wise. The Bears have one more win in one more game played, and both teams have a slight negative point differential. I don't agree that Finnegan is "terrible these days" at all. He was pretty bad in St. Louis, but he's been good as a Dolphin outside of the last game. However, he and Grimes give up a LOT of size to Marshall and Jeffery, which will make those matchups very tough. They'll also be challenged to cover against Forte and Bennett with a linebacking corps that not entirely healthy. Misi is nursing an ankle injury that took him out on Green Bay's last drive last weekend, directly contributing to the game-winning touchdown pass from Rodgers to Quarless. If they have to put Wheeler in coverage, that's really bad news. Jelani Jenkins has been excellent in coverage, but he can only cover one or the other. The Bears' question mark at RT is a disadvantage, considering the RT has to block Cameron wake. The Dolphins DL is very strong, and one of the keys to the Dolphins competing will be pressuring Cutler to make things easier on the coverage. On the flip side, the Dolphins need to establish the run game early to get shorter conversions and open up play action, and they need to run more plays with layered routes to get Tannehill rolling early. The Bears will want to lock down the running game and force Tannehill and the passing game to beat them. Ultimately, I think this game comes down to line play on both sides. If the Bears can stop the Dolphin running game and protect Cutler consistently, the game is clearly in their favor. If the Dolphins can run the ball effectively and get pressure on Cutler, they probably win with a similar margin. If the results are in between, well, the results are in between. I think the Bears are the better team. And are playing at home. The Bears won or nearly won several games last year (and in the opener this year) that they couldn't stop teams from running the ball. Even if the Dolphins do run the ball and get some pressure on Cutler, Jay has actually been really good under pressure this year. I think that even if the Dolphins run the ball well, sack Cutler 3-4 times, they still won't win if the Bears don't turn it over. You can argue that pressure will force turnovers, but it hasn't so far. Cutler has the 3rd highest completion percentage when under pressure with 5 TDs and 1 INT.
  8. Hope you started Vereen like I did! Finally paid off for sticking with him all year. Nope. Went with Lamar Miller. Ugh. Now I gotta hope he does well against the Bears. I had Gronk last night and didn't want to put too many eggs in the Pats basket. I'm playing a pretty crappy team and I'm still projected to win despite Gronk scoring a few under his projection.
  9. Jackson, I guess? Tough call.
  10. No Conte sucks. Hope McManis can go, though I don't know that he sees the field on D. Interested to see tomorrow's report. No practice Friday usually means out Sunday.....unless you're Brandon Marshall.
  11. He was signed by the Redskins. All I can find on that deal was "up to 2Mil", but his contract was terminated and he signed with the Bears for 730K. So, I don't know how that works, but I'd imagine the issue with McCown wouldn't apply since he was cut first.
  12. Pick 1 FLEX: PPR scoring Vereen vs. NYJets (tonight) Lamar Miller vs. Chicago Malcom Floyd vs. KC Pick 2 (1 has to be a WR) Also, PPR scoring Beckham Jr vs. Dallas Ben Tate vs. Jacksonville J Stewart vs. GB S Watkins vs. Min K Wright vs. Washington
  13. I'd like to see DJ Williams and Briggs sit again, just to go with the hot hand(s). If that does happen and Bostic plays, I'd be interested to see who they go with at the LB spots. I'd go Sharpton in the middle, with Greene at WLB, throw Bostic in the nickel for Greene, and start Jones at SLB with McClellin working in. That could realistically be the LB corps in 2015 and beyond (Sharpton would have to be re-signed).
  14. Sucks that Soler didn't get enough ABs to qualify anywhere.
  15. He should have taken another 24 hours and come up with something funny.
  16. Not as good? Those are basically the same numbers, hell Itoli has the OPS advantage.
  17. They do play well on it. Too bad it causes cancer. I think this makes me realize how really bad Soldier Field is. Been a lot of players slipping in the home games. It definitely doesn't seem like a fast track or help the home team as much as it should.
  18. Why? What is there to like about Blackmon? He can hit, probably play a passable CF, is left handed, potentially available with a crowded OF, and is under team control for 4 years. I haven't fully convinced myself Alcantara for him is a terrific deal, but he's a pretty good target for those who want a more certain bat added to take pressure off the prospects to produce. Eh. I wouldn't trade Alcantara for him (probably wouldn't trade what it would take to get him). But there are some things to like about Blackmon, and he's the exact type of player I've been thinking about when thinking of the Cubs adding a capable OF, while also "saving" a spot for Russell and/or Bryant. There are also some things to not like, especially when compared to Alcantara. Are we sure Blackmon is not a platoon player? Hasn't really hit LHP that well. He's under control for 4 years, but is turning 28 halfway thru next season. Then there's the whole Coors Field thing. Obviously, he has favorable home splits too. And I'm not sure how that power will translate in Wrigley. I wouldn't trade Alcantara for him because I believe AA has more power, is younger, and is a switch hitter with position flexibility.
  19. The Denver one won Floyd Mayweather millions of dollars.
  20. Pretty accurate assessment of the Dolphins. I always feel like they should be an elite defensive team. They have a lot of talent on that side of the ball. Lot of early picks and guys that can really run. But they really haven't put it together consistently. Their offense is certainly capable, but don't really have that "star" you have to really gameplan for, though Wallace can make some plays if the DBs let him get behind them. I never really know how the Bears will match up with a team like Miami, who I don't get to see very much and the Bears face once every 4 years. Bushrod back would be really nice, because if Mills couldn't handle Massaquoi, I don't know how he can have a prayer against Wake.
  21. Uh. Yesterday was just the 5th game under Trestman with a point differential of more than 1 score. They kinda already are.
  22. what block? he looked like he was running the ball, running around the defensive players You're right. I thought he blocked that LB, but he kinda just ran by him and the LB fell. Bennett with a really good block though.
  23. "@JoshDubowAP: Derek Carr 3 sacks on first 167 pass attempts. Brother David sacked 41 times on his 1st 167 #Raiders" Wow.
  24. Trestman says he expects Bushrod back this week.
  25. I would link it, but I'm at work. Do yourselves a favor and find video of Michael Ola's block on the Forte TD run on 3rd and 8.
