  1. Gagne, Wood, Dempster, Howry, Wuertz, and Marmol from the right side of the pen. Not to mention Petrick, who has been great when he's been up. And the various others who have shown flashes. Has there been a new Petrick added to the roster? The one who has pitched for the Cubs has been horrible, not great. Turn your auto a-hole response off. I know people have been picking on you in this thread but I have not. Oh yeah, and my point.....Petrick gave up 2 runs in his 1st outing (and made 1 pitch that was remotely bad) and 4 in his last outing. Other than that, he gave up 2 in 9 innings. Excuse me? Auto A-hole? I'm not going to apologize for pointing out Petrick has been far from great. Didn't ask you to apologize, but the obvious sarcasm was completely uncalled for. Petrick's also been far from horrible. Again, he gave up 4 runs in his last outing. He gave up 2 right before that with a shutout inning in between. And 7 scoreless leading up to that.

  4. Anybody else hear Dye to Boston for Wily Mo and Delcarmen was final?
  5. Johan Santana and Joe Mauer to the Cubs? :D I'd trade them Rich Hill, Geo Soto, Felix Pie and pay their payroll for the next 15 years.
  6. Good start to the week by me. 17 IP, 3 ERs from my 2 starters. One was at the Cubs expense though. I'm up big early.
  7. At this point, I'd really love to get Dye. He has a near 1.1 OPS since the break. And 3-year splits show a .913 post AS OPS from 04-06. He's been solid vs. LHPs. And great career numbers vs. LHPs. If he can put up his career numbers the rest of the way (.274/.337/.484), he's at least an improvement in the power department. If he puts up his average numbers for the previous 3 years the rest of the way (.285/.349/.533), he'd likely put the Cubs over the top in the division. If they were looking at Delcarmen and Pena from the BoSox, I would offer Murton, Petrick, and Atkins for him.
  8. How has Mark Bradley looked? If he's 100% this year, things could get ugly for NFL defenses.
  9. I think Detroit will be better. But they have done little to show me that they can do the 2 most important things a winning football team has to do. 1. protect the QB. 2. stop your opponent from scoring at will. The Lions' players think they will win 10 this year.
  10. Why wouldn't an AL team deal with a team in the NL because of a supposed rivalry? The Sox are stupid if they won't make their team better in 08 (any player for Dye that will be on that team in 08 is an improvement) because it's the Cubs. They play the Red Sox more than they play the Cubs on a yearly basis.
  11. Teixeria is a big improvement over the Braves current production from 1B, but they are 4.5 games back with 2 months to play. And it's not like the Mets don't have a pretty good lineup. If they were tied, probably give the nod to the Braves, but 4.5 games ain't nothing. Exactly. And they still have to pass the Phils. In the WC, they have to pass 2 of SD, LA, Arizona and 1 of Cubs, Milwaukee. Unless they get Johan Santana, they are gonna have an uphill battle.
  12. The Mets have to get an OF, I think. I still don't know if the Braves have enough starting pitching to make up the ground. The Braves are now behind Philly, NY Mets, Dodgers, Padres, D'Backs, Cubs, and Brewers for 2 playoff spots. 2.5 games isn't much to make up, but they gotta at least jump 6 teams.
  13. Any chances the interest decreased because they have a bigger name on the horizon? I'd imagine if a player like Griffey was close, they'd certainly drop all interest in a player like Jay Payton.
  14. and billingsley. all he had to do was score like 5 points and it would likely have been over. Yeah, I couldn't remember who the pitcher was for the other side who put up a negative number.
  15. HBC comes back from a huge deficit, mainly due to Zambrano's 33 pt game today. Game coming down to the wire.
  16. Wow. I saw the headline "Bills trade holdout Walker to the Bears for draft pick." My first thought, was "this can't be Darwin." I'm happy and surprised it is him. My guess is that Bears give him a 1-year deal, and either let him walk or they franchise him next year. I don't think he gets a long-term deal with Tommie still unsigned, and with Berrian and Grossman's pending FA on the horizon.
  17. I wouldn't read too much into the Rex praise. IIRC, he practiced well last year. As I pointed out earlier, the key with Rex is that he's actually done it before. He's had several great NFL games. Really all he has to do is get rid of the bad ones. With more offensive weapons this year, it's almost if as he has no choice but to improve.
  18. Please tell me Hendry is not that dumb. http://www.nypost.com/seven/07282007/sports/mets/on_your_mark_mets_joel_sherman.htm I refuse to believe Hendry is that dumb. I don't think there's any way he trades Pie for anything less than a big-named player.
  19. Not much. http://assets.chicagobears.com/UserFiles/Image/story_photos/DManning_inside092006.jpg
  20. I made the comparison a couple weeks ago, but it's probably not a great one. Smith is obviously a star WR. A long shot that Hester will become that good. Smith only caught 10 passes as a rookie (2 thru 1st 7 games), so I think Hester will top that this year. But Smith became a starter after that and caught 56 passes. The rest is history. Devin will really have to impress (like Smith did) in order to gain a starting spot by next year. Dante Hall is probably his closest comparable right now. Hall's first year getting any time at WR, he caught just 20 passes and got 11 handoffs on reverses. 3 of those touches went over 40 yards, though. Hall has stayed in the 3rd/4th WR role, catching about 32 passes a year.
  21. You would think in a deal for 3 players, that Texas would want more than 1 pitcher.
  22. That's gotta be weird when your son gets traded from the same organization that you are in.
  23. Cubs will win the Wildcard. Brewers win the division by the current margin of 2 games. Mets win the East. Dodgers in the West, unless San Diego adds Dunn.
  24. Already 2 seperate threads on both....on the 2nd page. Locking this one.
