  1. The guy who has pitched 81 innings isn't eligible for you, but the guy with 34 IP is the winner? Yup. While Zambrano has more innings, Marmol still has many more appearances. Look at it this way....which of these is more valuable- 7 innings in a row in a blowout game, or 7 innings spead out over a couple weeks, all in crucial situations? Look at it this way....that's an extreme example. Nowhere near all Zambrano's appearances are blowouts. Not all Marmol's innings are in crucial situations. How many times has he been in games with 4 run leads? Also, if Zambrano is pitching in a blowout, he's probably a big reason why. It's probably because he has held the opposition to very little offense and probably has contributed to the run scoring for his own offense. When you take into account Zambrano's bat, Marmol can't touch him.
  2. What to do? I can't determine if I have more hatred for whiny arse Pittsburgh fans who thinks this is titletown, USA but refuse to admit the Pirates exist or that the Pens have been horrible for the most part of 15 years.....or all things Detroit, especially the Red Wings, aka the Dallas Cowboys of the NFL. I've found myself rooting for the Pens, because I love the good young players. But at this point I don't care who wins. Pens should all slap themselves in the face for blowing that 5-on-3 in Game 4, at home. They'd be in the driver's seat right now. Also, it would help if Malkin could remove his head from his proverbial anus.
  3. Cubs will score this inning. Hopefully, multiple times. Ledesma is not good. He just ran the bases. Facing a good lineup for the 2nd time. Marquis doesn't deserve run support though.
  4. So you're saying it's unearned  Not anymore. Single woulda score him anyway.
  5. That was the pitcher on 3rd too folks. The pitcher he walked to 1B, balked to 2B, gave up a deep fly ball to advance him to 3B and just errored him in.
  6. So, he falls behind all the hitters the first 2 innings and gets outs. Now, he gets ahead of hitters and walks them.
  7. Or 1 dollar fine and 5,000 kicks in the ass.
  8. Remember when Cedeno got thrown out on a walk? Good times.
  9. If there is an RBI double, but the runner is thrown out trying to stretch it to a triple, does Gamecast say: In play, out(s) or In play, run(s)?
  10. Derosa has seen more pitches in this AB than the Cubs did last inning total.
  11. Hernandez thru 5 has allowed just 2 hits, 1 unearned run with a walk and 5 Ks. Four outs each on the ground and air, however 2 of the air outs were IF popups.
  12. Lieber threw the 6th last night. He probably can't go more than 2 tonight.
  13. I've always liked Wells, but yeah, he projects as a middle reliever. Probably not good enough stuff to be a dominant late inning guy, but not a guy that's going to just be a garbage time reliever. He's definitely got the ability to help the team out of the pen in the near future. Lot of competition between RHPs though in the Cubs upper minors/majors.
  14. Ledesma sucks. Marquis sucks. Marquis does have 2 starts in Petco and he went 7 innings last year and 8 1/3 in 2005, giving up 3 ERs total. He walked 8 people in those 2 games, so he had good outings (ERA wise) without having his best stuff (then again, what exactly is his best?). I think Lou will give Jason every chance to go deep tonight. If ever he needed 7 strong innings, it's tonight. Ledesma's longest outing this year is 5 innings, this is his 5th start.
  15. Yeah, one of the 13 should be a good athlete.
  16. Travis Henry is an A-hole. That said, I'd take him. He'd be worth a look, though I doubt the Bears give it much thought.
  17. I wanted to cry last year. First game of the season. Big situation. To top it off, he was held on a dirty play by the SD fullback. I didn't know how serious he was hurt the year before vs. Arizona, but I knew his season was over in San Diego.
  18. Very strange. It's not like he's swinging at a bunch of pitches out of the zone, as his K rate is the best of his career. His P/PA is lower than most years and his career numbers, but well within .2 of his normal numbers. His walk rate was fine in April. It took a hit in May as he struggled. Still, if Derrek Lee is 6th best on this team as far as BB/PA goes, the Cubs don't have anything to worry about.
  19. Should be a good match up. I wish Holliday wasn't on the DL right now, but I do like my pitching this week. Yeah, you get Pedro back against weak offensive teams, but I don't expect him to go too deep. I get Wainwright and Harden twice though, and they have been my best pitchers.
  20. Wild in the zone. Not hitting his spots. He's had a GB/FB ratio of nearly 4-to-1 in his last 5 starts, but has been tagged for 29 ERs and 40 hits over that span in 27 2/3 innings. High BABIP right now, but has given up 6 HRs (4 in his last 4 starts) after giving up 9 all of last year. Lefties are absolutely teeing off on him this year for some reason. His 3-year splits suggest no such problem with LH hitters. I'd love to go after Penny. He will turn it around.
  21. If the Nati can get good value for Griffey and Dunn, they could be a really good team for a long time. Rotation of Harang, Cueto, Volquez, Bailey, Maloney gives them a proven ace (or just below) caliber pitcher, Bailey has ACE potential. Volquez and Cueto are potential good 2-3 starters. Lineup of Bruce, Phillips, and Votto in the middle, surrounded by guys like Keppinger, Encarnacion and they have prospects in their top 10 that can fill out the rest of that lineup, not to mention the money they will be able to spend with all the cheap talent they have.
  22. I'd be very interested in Chris Simms. Hopefully, he gets cut sooner, rather than later so he has a chance to compete for the starting job. Good move regarding Alex/Anderson. Need a big season from Dvoracek. He has definitely shown flashes, even moreso in practice, according to the coaching staff. Thankfully, Bazuin doesn't have to be a huge factor. The biggest thing is that these 2 give the Bears 14-16 games this year, in order to determine their futures with the organization. Benson lighter is good. He'll probably get a little lighter in mini and training camps.
  23. 5 wins in a row in this league. 6 in a row in my other league. Get Fuzzy next week, should be fun!
