  1. I think Baron could easily find himself with the Clippers. Damn, nostradamus. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3470016 And with that ends any glimmer of hope that Brand would return to Chicago. The Clippers are going to be formidable if B-Dizzle, Brand and Kaman can stay healthy. I was disapointed to see Eric Gordon go to the Clippers now it looks like it will be a nice place for him. Should be pretty good situation for him I would think. BE interesting to see him in a situation where he isn't the man. Most guys that come into the NBA so young are either #1 or 2 options or development projects. Gordon is not a project, and he'd be the 4th option on that team. I always thought the Clippers would be a great fit because he could pretty much do whatever he wanted on a horrible team.

  3. That has to be a screwup. They are alphabetically close. But it's screwed up everywhere I have checked. cubs.com has it right Yeah, but MLB.com, Yahoo, and ESPN all have Marmol starting.

  6. Maybe not, but he plays the weakest position on the roster besides C, as a 2b. Utley, Kinsler, Uggla, Roberts, Phillips, Upton, and Pedroia disagree that 2B is a weak position.
  7. I agree that Marbury was underrated. He was a very good player. Still, I don't think it's a stretch to say Rose is a better handler and passer, just because he's never had the chance to average 8 assists for 9 years. With Deng, Gordon, and Tyrus and Noah to finish, I'd be upset if Rose didn't average 8 assists, assuming he is the primary ballhandler. He may never score 23ppg like Marbury did, but I think he will ultimately be a better player. No knock on Marbury, just shows how much I think of Derrek Rose.
  8. Good job, Lilly. Would have liked you to complete it and get the shutout or an even better idea would have to not come back out in the 9th at all, but I'll take 25.5....though it woulda been over 30 had the latter happened.
  9. I was actually thinking about that. Marquis would help balance out the salaries for 2009. Then the Royals get out of that deal. I do think it would take quite a bit to get Meche though. Probably a ML ready pitcher (Gallagher/Marshall), a ML ready position player (Pie/Cedeno?) and a young arm with a lot of upside, in addition to Marquis.
  10. Good to see Kyler Burke go 2-4, ending his 3 for 30 to start the Boise season.
  11. Raw, I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or just happy that he's on your fantasy team. Neither actually. I just love his personality. He's a complete jackass and it's hilarious. He's like a more sane, less doped-up version of Mike Tyson.
  12. Marbury was a pretty good player in his prime (age 21-26). Rose is bigger, and a better and more willing passer. Marbury was probably more of a true scorer, but Rose should be able to shoot better than the miserable 30% from 3 that Marbury shot during his prime years. Marbury averaged 8 assists and sometimes 9 assists per game in each of his first 11 seasons. He was a fine passer. He just played on teams that had one or two other scorers and nothing elese so he shot too much. He has been consistently average with his 3, although his career percentage is .326 so not quite as bad as you say. I did say in his prime which was from age 21-26 as I pointed out earlier. He's become a much better shooter with age. 8-9 assists is solid, but I never said Marbury was a bad passer, just not as good as Rose is. And for the record, Marbury never averaged 9 assists in a single season (8.9 twice, only 1 other season over 8.5). Also, I don't see your point that he only played w/ 1 or 2 scorers. First off, how many teams in NBA history have had more than 2 guys you could consider "scorers". Secondly, Marbury played w/ 3-4 others players in Minnesota and NJ who averaged over 12 PPG in every season.

  14. His name has been mentioned briefly and in passing, but Gil Meche could be a good sleeper pickup. He has an ERA barely over 2 in his last 4 starts, with a WHIP under 0.75. His ERA in in the mid 3's after a horrid start to the season. Looking at his salary page, it looks like he's owed about 36Mil over the next 3 years. Similar to what the Cubs would have to pay Burnett, but for an extra year....which is evened out by the fact that Meche is 2 years younger.
  15. I love Manny Ramirez and hope he is on this Earth forever.
  16. The Cubs are masters at lowering a prospect's value! Not saying everything in that story is true, but wow a 22-year old going out clubbing in one of the biggest most entertaining cities on Earth? God Forbid! Everyone knows you can't go out partying and be ready for a game 10 hours later.
  17. Things a crack whore might say?
  18. Ryan Harvey 0-6, 4 Ks. Darwin Barney 0-8, and was the only player on either team to not reach base.
  19. Jonathan Mota went 0-8, with 5 strikeouts, committed his 10th error, and was the losing pitcher! OUCH!
  20. SF isn't that bad of a team. The Cubs were probably in danger of at best splitting this series w/ Aramis. I'd like to think they can win the Lilly/Zito and Dempster/Correia matchups. On paper, the Cubs probably weren't gonna win Marquis/Cain and Gallagher/Lincecum anyway.
  21. Can stay on the DL forever if needed. I don't think he's going to pitch in the minors anytime soon. I wonder if he will just be reassigned to Mesa officially soon.
  22. The bold is the point I was coming here to make. Keep Vitters at 3B, until he proves beyond a reasonable doubt that he can't handle it....unless his bat is ready and the Cubs have a better 3B option in the majors ala what Colorado and SD have done w/ Stewart and Headley, respetively. However, I don't think he's 5 years away, especially if he moves fast as you suggested. A continued good showing this year, could get him to Daytona this year. Even if you figure a year at each level after that, he's in Chicago for 2012.
  23. I thought waivers ran 3 days after the player was dropped. But I see Francis isn't eligible to come off waivers til next Sunday morn/Saturday night.
  24. That game stayed on my DVR until after Game 3 of the NLDS last year. Wish Aramis could have done that a day earlier this year, though it wouldn't have been a walkoff yesterday.
  25. Injuries have hurt. Cubs are missing Zambrano, Soriano, and Johnson. Ward has been back 4 games. Fukudome and Edmonds have been playing less than 100%. Theriot is less than 100%. Now, Eyre is hurt. That's 1/2 the everyday lineup missing or less than 100%. The ace of the rotation. A key part of the bullpen. And your top 2 bench players, and Johnson is obviously more than that because he platoons. Guys like Patterson and Fontenot have been forced into everyday action, when they are 23-25th players at best right now. Top that off with the toughest stretch of the season, and it's no wonder the Cubs have struggled. It does suck that the Cubs have had a legit shot in most of the losses though, and haven't been able to execute w/ RISP. But this team has the makings of a team that will go on a tear when they get all these guys back at 100% which should happen right before or after the AS game. If they add an arm, the Cubs are (dare I say, easily?) the best team in baseball.
