  1. The Cubs murdered Lohse last time for his worst outing of the season. Take out Cedeno, Blanco, Marquis and Lieber (who are a combined 0-11)...none of whom will be in the lineup tomorrow and the starting pitcher Lilly, the Cubs will throw out a lineup of hitters all hitting .333 or better for their career against Lohse. And assuming Izturis doesn't come off the DL and Looper doesn't start again tomorrow, the entire Cards lineup will be under .333 against Lilly.
  2. Iowa w/ 19 hits. Felix Pie had 4 of them, all singles, 2 of them bunt singles. Patterson 1-4, BB, 2B, SB, 2 runs. Micah went 3-4, with a HR.
  3. If the Dodgers are thinking McDonald, Hu, and Laroche for Sabathia and think they would have to give up some of the same names for Jack Wilson, then they are gonna overpay for Jack Wilson. The Pirates would be making out like bandits by getting either McDonald or Laroche straight up for Wilson. The closest the Cubs could probably come, talent wise to that package from the Dodgers, IMO would be: Gallagher, Colvin, Tony Thomas. I think the Indians will value bats more than pitchers if they trade CC, because Lee, Carmona, Miller still has the makings of a good rotation.
  4. Marlins led 5-0, 7-1, 13-4, and 17-12....and now have to get 3 outs with the bases loaded in order to take the game to extras.
  5. Rockies just tied the Marlins 17-17 in the 9th.
  6. If The Cubs are willing to take on the full salary for the last 2.5 years of his deal, we could probably get him pretty cheap, maybe for Ronny and Murton or Hoffpauir. I'm banking on Burnett opting out. I think Toronto's afraid he won't and they'll be "stuck" with his contract. I also think JP Ricciardi is kind of a moron. Burnett's gonna be gone, and probably for cheap to anyone who wants that contract, but it won't be as little as Cedeno and Murton. Cedeno doesn't have a whole lot of value, so I'm guessing it will take 1 solid prospect and possibly some filler. I'd offer Cedeno, Ceda and Craig.
  7. Didn't realize CC Sabathia came with 4.5 games in the standings too. Over 2-3 months he could. Could? You pretty much said it would in your original post. FYI, Cubs were 6-8 w/o Zambrano and are 8-11 without Soriano. You are talking about a team that was playing well over .600 baseball before 1/2 of their top 4 players got hurt. Getting those 2 back will be enough to hold off Milwaukee.
  8. Soto, Fontenot, Derosa, and Edmonds have been doing just fine of late.
  9. Didn't realize CC Sabathia came with 4.5 games in the standings too.
  10. Didn't see this posted. But wow. You could make a pretty good team of guys who are in the minors this season because of slumping, who have had some ML success. C- Towles 1b- Butler 2B- A Cabrera 3B- Fields OF- Francouer SP- R. Hill, Willis, Liriano, Morales, C James RP- Borowski
  11. His twin brother's middle name is Shirley. That sounds like a Pat Hughes joke. I was gonna say, Surely the Cubs can beat a guy with the middle name LaVerne.
  12. If the Brewers put a competent offer on the table, there's pretty much no way the Indians don't take it.
  13. I don't think the Braves have much interest in that contract. I don't think anyone has that much interest in Hu. And the Brewers are setting their sights higher, but if CC doesn't go, the Jays would take Escobar for Burnett in a heartbeat.
  14. Bruce, if you are still around....any insight on why Aramis left the team? Also, what's his demeanor like? I can't imagine he's the happiest man in the clubhouse after not being able to get the 4th day and having to fly from DR to SF to St Louis all in a 2-day span.
  15. I got 2 of them bitches and traded Uggla before the season. that uggla trade kinda worked for everybody. brian got soto, i got uggla, you got wainwright. obviously wainwright is hurt, but they've all been good when healthy. though i'd maybe trade uggla for soto at this point since towles has been worthless. Yeah, that was a good trade all around. All 3 are exempt too. Uggla was a no-brainer because I had Kinsler who I had more faith in doing what he has this year, though Uggla would look great at U right now. Wainwright was right inside the top 15 pitchers before he got hurt.
  16. 3 top of the 9 point scorers offensively (Kinsler, Sizemore, Wright). With Reyes right around top 20, Hart starting to heat up and Magglio (one of last year's top scorers) coming back shortly. Two top 6 pitchers (Volquez, Hamels) help me have a well rounded team....at the top. And the best thing about it is my top 4 hitters and top 2 pitchers were keepers, so I put myself in a good position before the season started. Wait, I guess the best thing would actually be that 3 of those 6 I pointed out are exempt and Sizemore and Wright aren't going anywhere.
  17. Well, not really. I hate to trade him but I got Andruw coming off the DL, and don't want to cut him or Victorino or Hardy. I guess I could just trade Victorino, but wouldn't get as much in return as I would for a POINTS EXEMPT CATCHER. If you offer me a starter, or a couple decent minor leaguers I will be willing to package Salty and another player for him/them.
  18. I got 2 of them bitches and traded Uggla before the season.
  19. Gallagher's last outing was a little rough, but him getting thru 6 was nothing less than amazing. His stuff seemed to get better after 80 pitches of inconsistency.
  20. I would hope Lou would skip Marquis completely, though he did pitch decently yesterday. Dempster and Zambrano could be on regular rest Tues/Wed respectively. Either Gallagher or Marquis could go Tuesday, if Lilly and Marshall both start vs. the Cards.
  21. WTF happened to Huseby? I gotta assume he's hurt at this point.
  22. WTF happened to Huseby? I gotta assume he's hurt at this point.
  23. Cain and Wakefield combine for 63. Volquez with another lackluster start. I got a start in hand, but down about 30. I need one of Juan's pitchers to get shelled. Still w/ Peavy, Cain, Wakefield to go 1 more time.
  24. Yeah, I couldnt believe he decided to injure mike brown, dusty divorcek, nate vasher, charles tillman, kevin payne, ruben brown, lance briggs, darwin walker, rex grossman, cedric benson..... Maybe you can believe then that he had a very poor draft, traded Thomas Jones giving the job to a RB who had been injured in each of his 1st 2 years the starting job w/ no competition, didn't upgrade on an aging offensive line, didn't upgrade at a weak WR position, signed Adam Archuleta and traded Chris Harris to downgrade the S position, refused to address the weak QB position.... I know injuries played a big part, but don't act like Angelo was powerless. The Bears clearly had some minor patchwork to be done in last year's offseason in order to stay on top of the NFC and Angelo didn't do it. I don't blame him for the Jones trade and not even the QB position, though he did replace Jones by overdrafting Wolfe. But getting Archuleta, letting Moose age in front of his eyes and not doing anything about it, and staying pat with an old, mediocre line are inexcusable moves. Simply put, if Angelo held onto Harris (who became a pretty good S in Carolina), drafted an OT in the 2nd round instead of a DE who didn't see the field (and never projected to see it much in the first place), and brought in another legit WR threat...the Bears would be in a lot better position to compete this year.
  25. No. You may be giving up the 2 best players in the trade.
