  1. Who says the Twins would be paying Greene's entire salary? Padres would likely have to eat some of that money, assuming they don't eat any of Peavy's deal.
  2. Sports talk radio makes all fanbases seem dumb.
  3. If that's all it took, this deal should have been done yesterday. It's going to cost a couple more prospects along with that package. But, it would still be more than worth it. What about a 3 way? Cubs get: Peavy, prospect from Twins or Giles if he waves NTC. Twins get: Khalil Greene, Jose Ascanio or Kevin Hart Padres get: Delmon Young, Sean Marshall, Pie/Fontenot/Cedeno, Jose Ceda/Wellington Castillo, and Mitch Atkins/Donnie Veal/Larry Suarez/Gaudin(if they want a more major league ready guy) That might actually work. Greene could have a good year in Minnesota. They need a SS, and I don't think they are that high on Delmon.
  4. Dominic Rhodes and Ryan Grant have run the ball decently against the Titans the last 2 weeks (80 ish yards, 4 ypc). Neither Indy or GB was running it particularly well before facing the Titans either. I think there will be some running room, but likely to the outside, as I don't trust Garza/Kreutz to be able to handle Haynesworth, sometimes even w/ a double team. But should be some room to the outside if you get a T/TE on Vandenbosch or run inside on Kearse when he gets up the field.
  5. Exactly. The Titans have proven vulnerable deep. Their LBs are too good and CBs are too ball hungry to continue to attack them short. Plus, it doesn't play into Grossman's strengths. The key to getting the ball downfield though, is having a QB who is willing to stand in there when the pocket is collapsing. With Orton, the Bears had a legit chance. With Grossman, I think the Bears have to rely on a team that doesn't make mistakes to make them in order to win.
  6. I'm so excited for this game, despite the fact I think the Bears are in for a beatdown. The key matchup in this game is St. Clair, Beekman, Kreutz, Garza and Tait vs. Kearse, Haynesworth, Brown, and Vandenbosch. The Titans are going to get pressure. They are top 6-7 in sacks. They are 2nd in the league in INTs (I believe). That's a bad combination for a Rex Grossman led offense. His happy feet combined w/ an opportunistic group of DBs, usually doesn't lead to a favorable result. The Bears defense needs to stay off the field. I'm not worried about the Titans run game as much as I am their short passing game. If the CBs play off, the Titans will short pass them to death on the outside. Also, as fast as Urlacher and Briggs are, they are no match 1-on-1 with the speed of Chris Johnson, Titans RB. I worry about this game looking like a blueprint of the Superbowl game vs. the Colts.
  7. Probably. They probably shoulda had one on the practice squad before the injury, though. On the off chance that both Grossman and Hanie get hurt next week, it will be just as easy to bring in a guy like Chris Simms on Monday and give him a full week in the offense. If they both get hurt a couple weeks down the line, and they are worse off than Orton, just bring Orton back at less than 100%.
  8. 4 weeks, would have him miss Tennessee, Green Bay, St. Louis, and Minnesota. That has the potential of a 1-3 stretch without him. Also, tough enough stretch that if Grossman can play well enough he can create a QB controversy.
  9. I agree. The Bears aren't really a good team though, so that's why I don't mind the win that way. They are good enough, though, to be a playoff team and I don't think it'll take 10 wins. Vikings and Packers are both 4-4. Bears already beat the Vikes. Minnesota still has to play two of the teams that beat the Bears (TB/ATL) and the Giants. Including the games vs. each other, the Bears and GB has 6 of the final 8 against the same teams. GB gets Detroit and Carolina, Bears have Tenn and the Rams. Assuming the Pack doesn't sweep the Bears, the only way they win the division is if they finish a game ahead or they tie but beat the Vikes and the Bears lose to them.
  10. Not that worried about the Titans run game, honestly. More worried about their D-line vs. the Bears OL. Assuming Grossman is the QB next week, the Titans will dare him to throw the ball. They'll put 8 in the box and shutdown the run game. They'll also be able to get pressure and rattle Rex. Their DBs are very opportunistic and are ballhawks.
  11. The guy with the Cardinals-Rams game isn't going to give you any sympathy. http://www.stoogetv.com/channels/US01.html password: stoogetv.com the stream working very well right now. thanks to cubbies75 not working for me at all
  12. Everybody's hurt! YAY!
  13. Uh, what? Orton doing everything right this year.
  14. Orton trying to get it back in a hurry!
  15. Hillenmeyer Lloyd D Manning F Miller T Holt Adams Toeina are the inactives. Chris Williams is active for the first time all season! Tillman and Vasher will be the starting CBs.
  16. What if we take out DG and JJ, remove al picks except for me giving you the 5th rounder? Nope. The player you want me to trade isn't going anywhere. Quality > Quantity. You want a star player, you have to give up a star player.
  17. C'mon, lets get this thing back on the first page!
  18. 19 boards for Gooden! I can understand Rose or Thomas being inconsistent, but guys like Gooden, Hinrich and Gordon need to come out and play like they did in the 2nd half all year long for the Bulls to have a chance.
  19. Rose with 20, with 16 minutes left.
  20. He's also 2-3 inches shorter too. Posting up is not his game. Posting up is not the Bulls game. They don't have an offense that works through the post, or really needs to. Thomas just needs to get better at what he does. If the Bulls want a post presence (which I want too), then they are going to have to draft or trade for one. They aren't going to make one out of Tyrus.
  21. The only problem is what would be the incentive for a team to give up a ML ready pitching prospect if they aren't getting Peavy back? Presumably, someone would have to give up a SP better than Marshall and get prospects back from the Cubs, lesser than the one they are giving up. I didn't say we wouldn't be giving up a quality player. I didn't say that you did. But the point is, the only reason to include a 3rd team is if the two teams trying to make the deal don't necessarily matchup w/ each other's needs. The Manny trade included a 3rd team, because the Dodgers didn't have a ML experienced OF to replace Manny in Boston, and because the Red Sox didn't have the combination of prospects that the Pirates wanted. I think the Cubs do have the combination that the Padres are looking for. The Cubs can give up a ML ready CF. They can give up ML ready pitching. They can give up prospects within a couple years away from being ML contributors. The only reason to conceivably include a 3rd team is to get the Padres a more talented player that they covet.
  22. Was anyone else actually impressed w/ Tyrus last night? I thought he took mostly good shots and was aggressive offensively against the best competition he will face all season. He got to the line 8 times and shoulda been there several more times. He'll never go 2-17 again in his life. If he gets 17 shots again in the near future, I think you're looking at a big game from him. He had 16 shots 3 times last year and put up 21/12, 24/7, and 20/14 in those games. 17 shots were the most of Tyrus' career. 8 FT attempts is tied (with several other games) for the 2nd most FTs he's shot in any game in his career (shot 10 in the season finale last year). He's shot 8 FTs in his last 2 games. That shows me that he is being aggressive going to the basket and becoming an offensive force inside. And from what I have seen, he's the only such force on the team.
  23. Sorry, I meant to respond later that day. But I'm going to have to say NO at this time.
