  1. Yep.
  2. Warner is a FA, but he is taking his team to the SB and will likely be re-signed. Anyone have any interest in a trade for Matt Leinart? I'm not sure he's better than Orton, but he is easily more talented. Any chance Arizona takes Ogunleye?
  3. Even without assuming a Peavy trade, this makes the Cubs better. They got probably as much value out of Pie as they possibly could have.
  4. Bears will be about 18-22 Mil under the cap. They should be fine to sign Peppers. However, I will point out that I know it's common to want Peppers over Haynesworth, but Haynesworth is the better player, and the last time the Bears got really good production out of their DEs (Ogun, Brown, Anderson) and Urlacher....they had Tommie Harris playing like a stud DT. i whiole heartedly agree. but what are the chances that carolina can retain both gross and peppers? i think it's more likely to get one of those guys than haynesworth. i'll take whomever they decide to not franchise. True. I don't think Haynesworth is going anywhere. I don't think Carolina brings back Peppers or Gross. Last offseason, Carolina drafted Otah, signed Wharton to a 6-year deal, and franchised Gross. Otah was excellent this year, and I'm sure they think he can play LT. Wharton was previously a RT, but I think they want to keep him at RG. Franchising Gross last year, says to me that they won't do it again this year. And the longterm deal with Wharton combined with the 1st round pick of Otah says to me that they won't sign Gross long-term. However, if Gross is back with Carolina, I'd rather go after a guy like Vernon Carey from Miami than sign Peppers. Carey is RT who has not missed a game in 3 years. Being that he is a RT, he's likely to be a lot cheaper than a star DE like Peppers. Carey's only 27 so he wouldn't be another Fred Miller signing of a guy on his last leg in the league. His price tag should also allow the Bears to spend on perhaps a WR or safety.

I could see it not mattering much though. I could see Peppers helping get great production out of the the DTs and LBs just as I could see Haynesworth helping get great production out of the DEs and LBs. They both have that kind of talent. I won't be complaining about either one of them though. Yeah, I guess I agree. I just think Haynesworth is a better all around player than Peppers. And DTs typically are cheaper than DEs. Plus, there are plenty of DEs in the draft who could come in and help out immediately, not so much at DT. Either way, I'd rather the Bears spend big on a lineman nor even a WR than either defensive position. A big time OT or RG would do wonders for this team. At DT, the Bears have Harris, Harrison, Dvoracek, Adams, and Idonije who are all pretty young and each have shown the ability to be pretty good for flashes. At DE the Bears have two 30+ year olds and Anderson who is looking like rookie fluke. I'd gamble on the a 1st round DE coming in and pushing Ogunleye in a contract year and Anderson who will be fighting for his job. Alex still has value as a run stopping DE.

  7. Lasik isn't that expensive.
  8. Definitely. Just saying it's not necessarily true that 99% of posters here would OPS 000. But I'm just in an argumentative mood. Yeah, that was definitely an exaggeration, some people would draw a lucky walk or get some lucky contact. But even pitchers are around major league pitchers everyday, and they take batting practice. There may only be a handful of people here who ever played professionally at any level, and probably only a couple that have done it recently. Batting ability can disappear in a hurry, and never having seen major league pitching could be freaking nuts. That said, nobody would be able to do what Andruw did. First, let me say that a lot of ML pitchers were once the best hitters on their high school/college teams. Not too many HS kids can just pitch. Secondly, if the bold is true....then conversely, wouldn't any of us be taking batting practice every day? I know not many of us could go to a ML team right now and even make lucky contact, but hitting every day with the help of ML hitting coaches and over the course of about 225 days of spring training and regular season, I think many of us could get to the point of hitting in the low .100s or whatever Jones hit.
  9. Have to use IE. Everytime I login w/ Firefox it signs me right back out again.
  10. Chris Burke would have been a better pickup than Aaron Miles.
  11. Man, Sanchez was my sleeper QB about midseason. I thought he might even go as late as the 3rd. Now, I guess the mid-to-late rounder I like is Hunter Cantwell. He has the size and the arm and was once highly thought of. Unfortunately for the Bears he probably needs a lot of coaching.
  12. I refuse to believe the Cardinals can make the Super Bowl. It's like the Seattle Mariners (or Cubs) in the World Series. It's like the Clippers in the NBA finals. It's just not supposed to happen.
  13. Steelers coming off their best game since the opener. Ravens coming off a game they should have lost by 14. I'm picking the Steelers, unfortunately. I do think that these two teams should play to the death, though.
  14. I think this moves means that Angelo was going to get rid of Babich and Lovie offered to help him out and take some of the blame if the defense underperforms again. And as Goony said, I think that may mean if they don't perform he will be out with Babich.
  15. As a team with a cheap starting RB, inexpensive QB and no receiver making a huge amount, I think it could be smart for them to overspend a little on the line. That's essentially what they did with Tait when they first brought him over to be the RT. It was necessary at the time. They don't have a very high draft pick, and don't have any important free agents of their own to resign, meaning there will be money available to spend on the line. I'd keep Gross at LT and move Williams to RT. Gross has proven that he can play LT a lot more than Williams has.
  16. McCoy shoulda left. He could be top 5 next year, though.
  17. Are you worried that picking a QB high in the draft could look like a 1-game overreaction to an otherwise solid year from Delhomme? Granted the Panthers should have been looking at a QB this year anyway, but thanks to a 6 turnover playoff showing, draft a QB in the first 2 rounds and the pressure will be there from minicamp for Carolina to make a change. Could really screw up a team that I think has one of the brightest futures in the league.
  18. Picked the AFC 100% correct in the 4 games. The NFC? Not so much. This is the year of the birds, I guess. Although, the Steelers played the best game they've probably played in 2 seasons. They are going to be confident and know they can beat the Ravens. The Ravens also know they can beat the Steelers, but have a crapload of injuries. I think the all PA superbowl will be a reality.
  19. Come on now...Warren Sapp was one of the best DT's to ever come out of college and fell in the draft because he like to smoke some weed. I'm pretty sure Sapp would have been great in any situation. Tommie Harris is no Warren Sapp (maybe the best DT ever), but he's pretty good. Maybe Marinelli can get him back to that level. If nothing else, it's worth the shot.
  20. Yeah, because the Cubs have never spent money before and spending money means winning.
  21. Trading DeRosa was more about making room for Aaron Miles than saving money. Hendry's absurd infatuation with left handedness over actual production is what motivated him on that move. That's a pretty ridiculous suggestion. There's no way the Cubs traded away Derosa because they wanted Aaron Miles that badly. The Cubs saved money from trading Derosa, and didn't use it all on Miles. They clearly did it to free money for a starting pitcher. They saved $2m. That will barely help in the search of a pitcher. The primary motivation was getting more lefthanded, which they accomplished by replacing DeRosa with Miles. Bradley replaces Edmonds, they aren't getting more LH that way. The #1 goal of Hendry this offseason has been to get more LH, and the only way they've done that is by replacing DeRosa with Miles. You are naive if you think my statement is ridiculous. 3.3 million, and even if DeRosa was traded to get more LH that would be because they have confidence in Fontenot, not Miles. It sounds like Miles is going to get most of his starts when he is batting from the right side. Exactly. Miles was brought in to replace Derosa's versatility (which frankly is just as stupid). Miles isn't making the team more lefthanded. Starting Fontenot everyday is. Your statement insinuates that the team prefers to have Miles over Derosa, and that's most definitely not the case.

  23. The Asst. Head coach part of the title leads me to believe that Babich better watch his back. Bringing in such a "name" as the DL coach leads me to believe that the Bears will draft a DE in the 1st. A step in the right direction, IMO.
  24. I know I'm late, but Ray Lewis lit the TN full back the f up!
  25. Story of the year for IU. Take 2 steps forward, then 2 steps back. Two close conference games to start, only to get destroyed. And I agree with the Dumes sentiment. He's the best scorer, but he'll have to really control his game to get some minutes next year, with the real talent coming in.
