  1. Maclin or Rice will give you good value. Even if Rice misses significant time, all you've lost is an 11th round pick. If other teams keep higher picks, you get the advantage of having an extra early pick over everyone else too. You can't get either of them in the 9th or 11th round this year. But it's hard to drop Wells if the RB picture is bleak.
  2. I'm confused by the rules. Do you lose a 1st for Gore? Why do you lose a 4th for a 6th round pick? What would you lose by keeping Sidney Rice? Is it a PPR league?
  3. It's too bad he hasn't had some more time there. At this point his ability to be at least adequate at 1B is pretty much a complete unknown. He's played some 1B here and there. He also was widely regarded as a pretty good defensive 1B coming out of college and as a minor leaguer. He moved to RF because Helton was cemented at 1B. FWIW, Hawpe is a pretty bad defensive OF, so it may be a case like Dunn, where he isn't going to hurt you more at 1B defensively than he would in RF.
  4. I don't think I'm going to do it. For a few reasons. I don't think the drop from Andre Johnson to a WR at the end of the 1st is that big (C Johnson, Moss, Fitz). Not big enough to justify losing my 3rd rounder. I don't think Best will last til the 5th. I don't think Garcon will last til the 5th. There's a big Giants fan in the league that will pick Nicks way too early. And the league is full of Steelers fans one of whom will pick Wallace early. I'd still need a 3rd WR and 2nd RB, one of which would be a lot weaker if I used a 5th rounder on that position vs. a 3rd rounder.
  5. Dunn IS 2009 Lee with worse defense. He's way better than 2010 Lee though. Cubs will suck next year regardless, but I'd enjoy watching everything about Dunn (many long HRs, working counts, and the occasional comedy at 1st base. Oh ya, and the thought of him partying with Soriano and Castro on the road--picturing that in my mind just made me laugh for some reason) Good lord, what year is it? I've been looking at 2009 fantasy football numbers for the last week, so I guess that was it?
  6. Dunn definitely scares me as far as defense goes. Mostly in the "catching throws from Castro and Ramirez" department. But I'd deal with it for the reward of his bat. The Cubs are a pretty good team w/ Dunn instead of 2009 Lee, if Aramis plays anything near a full season to his capability.
  7. He's a guy that could be a stopgap at 1B for the next year and a half.
  8. Do they have another Elvis Andrus and Neftali Feliz they can trade? Also, I had a dream at the beginning of the season that the Cubs traded for Nick Swisher to play 1B for them. Makes no sense from the Yankees point of view, but I'd like it.
  9. Just about equivalent to low A, maybe slightly higher (but not high-A) I believe.
  10. No way, we have Colvin. Even in a thread about Derrek Lee being traded to Atlanta, there has to be a random, out of nowhere shot at Tyler Colvin. It's a reference to a post that mentioned playing him at 1B.
  11. Best case scenario, he hits for low average, decent power, low OBP, Ks a lot, below average defense at 1B. Probably Tyler Colvin without the speed or Micah Hoffpauir without the batting eye.
  12. also known as the 2nd most passing yards on the Bears roster. That, unfortunately, is not a selling point. Hey, I tried to look for the silver lining. I actually checked RBs and Hester's throwing stats too (Chester Taylor threw a 4-yard completion once). Brad Maynard has 94 career passing yards with an impressive 2 TD to 0 INT ratio. Ah yes, Maynard has the 2nd most passing yards on the Bears. *sigh*

  15. Matt Gutierrez is the QB brought in per Brad Biggs. Former Patriot backup.
  16. Yeah, I think it's pretty stupid in general, but thems the rules.
  17. Good lord, we'd better not have any O-lineman get hurt...we've got no depth behind them....who is James Marten? Depth isn't a problem. Got plenty of bodies to throw in there. My issue is that they have talked all summer about getting their best 5 players on the line and getting them some time together. Yet, we were told in the beginning that Asiata and Beekman would battle for the LG spot. And Louis would battle Garza at RG. Asiata, Beekman, and Garza have all taken reps w/ the 1st team at LG, with no injury excuses. And now Garza, Louis, and Marten will take 1st team reps at RG which I suspect may not be because of injury due to Louis' poor game Saturday.
  18. Basically, if you pick a QB, you get stats for him and whoever else plays QB for that team that game. So, if Favre gets hurt in the 2nd quarter, you aren't SOL. You also get the points from whatever Tavaris Jackson does. That's an interesting method. And why I'm targeting Kevin Kolb. If Vick plays an extended amount of time, I should make a killing in rushing yards.
  19. That was wonderful.
  20. Rather have McCown than Collins. Whoever, they bring in is probably going to play at least a quarter this weekend. McCown knows the offense. Plus, Collins is going to be 39 in November. McCown is only 31 and is at least not a statue.
  21. I think it's more of a numbers game. He's a SS, and it just so happens that FS is the biggest need. He's strictly a SS, but he's clearly behind Harris, Manning (since this is his position of the week nowadays), and Steltz right now. He was horrible when forced to play FS last year and he's also behind those 3 and Wright there, maybe Bullocks too. His job may be saved if they keep 5 safeties, and he can contribute on special teams and he has the upside still to justify it I guess.
  22. Same could be said for everyone on the roster, except Wright. Not saying that he's great or anything, but Steltz at least will be in the right position. Not sure about his tackling or ball skills, but which safeties have those on this roster? If you are going to be lacking there anyway, you might as well do so with someone in the right position. How do you know he's going to be in the right position? I don't think we've seen enough of the guy in real game situations, under big time pressure, to know that. He's played in 23 games in 2 years, started the last 2 last year. We've also seen him in preseason games. We have also seen several of his games at LSU and scouting reports to support that. He's started 2 games, when teams could/would be planning for what he does. In my mind Harris is the better player. We'll see if I'm proven wrong. I didn't say Harris wasn't better. But I think Steltz is a better option at FS than Harris is (Harris is better SS by a lot).

  24. stock obviously.
