  1. On the other hand Daniel Moore and Tom Prichard couldn't make a 2 footer on an empty court Touche'. At least Moore doesn't even try.
  2. I like the bates idea. Both are interesting. Fisch is more of an unknown, but they're careers kinda go hand-in-hand. Both were a part of the 2008 Broncos staff. Cutler threw for 4000 yards that year with Bates as his QB coach, but Fisch was the WRs coach and got a 90 catch, near 1000 yard season out of Eddie Royal, numbers he hasn't even come halfway to since. Both are very young at 35-36. Both were college OCs in 2009 before both going to Seattle in 2010. Fisch was OC at Minnesota, but had absolutely no talent and his team finished next to last in the nation in offense. Bates was kinda lackluster when he got his first shot at NFL OC, so I'd probably be more apt to give Fisch a chance, though Bates worked more closely with Cutler at Denver being QB coach. Along with Shanahan, Fisch has worked with Billick in Baltimore. Was QB coach when McNair made probowl. Was WR coach when Marshall went to the Probowl. Bates first worked as an NFL assistant under Gruden.
  3. This just in, white guys that go to IU can shoot the rock. Hulls and Roth. 12-15 from 3.
  4. What the hell is the point of firing Angelo if you aren't going to change a damn thing?
  5. Texans over Bengals Steelers over Broncos Saints over Lions Giants over Falcons Ravens over Texans Steelers over Patriots Saints over Niners Giants over Packers Ravens over Steelers Saints over Giants Saints over Ravens
  6. So you wouldn't take Urlacher again at what, #7? He's a guy who has a tone of effect on the passing game with his ability to cover the new breed of TE. Urlacher was the 9th pick. In 2000, yes I would have taken him. In 2012, I wouldn't take a LB top 10.
  7. I don't think the Olsen trade was that bad. I think the 71st pick of the draft can go to get a good player that plays a much more important position than TE.
  8. If Cutler wants it, I'm good with it. Doesn't seem likely with Loggains being under contract still. I don't know what they could do to make it seem like more in title.
  9. LaRoche is slower and worse defensively. LaRoche with plus defense? I'll take that. Laroche was a decent player until he passed his prime. But Laroche was 2 years old than Rizzo projects to be when he becomes a full time ML. Rizzo also has superior minor league numbers. I think Laroche is the floor for Rizzo.
  10. the logic is fine with the deal. I don't think anyone can knock the logic of the deal. I just hope Rizzo becomes this full-fledged corner slugger and stud all around bat that people are making him out to be this year (elsewhere, haven't really paid attention to what the majority think on rizzo here). You seem convinced that Rizzo has to become Adrian Gonzalez for this to be a good deal. That's not even close to being the case.
  11. Really? We just gave up a high upside upper level arm. Granted, Cashner had big concerns to deal with off of injury, but that's a pretty steep price to pay in a deal these days overall, with how teams protect young pitchers with upside. You could make the case that Cashner was the highest valued asset in the deal, thus they had to toss Cates in, who I think is the clear 3rd highest valued asset in the deal, with us throwing a throw in in. I agree with you, but the bold is pretty hilarious.
  12. People keep calling Cashner a "relief pitcher". While he is 25 already, its pretty clear that he still has plenty of time to get his stamina back up and become a starting pitcher in the MLB. He's under team control for 5 more years, has an elite arm, and can still develop into a stud starting pitcher. I'm very satisfied with this trade from the Cubs perspective, but don't write this off as the Cubs getting a big corner IF bat for a reliever.
  13. The only players I'd pick top 10 are the players who have the elite potential to effect the passing game. - LT - DL, has to be a pass rusher extraordinare - WR, has to have AJ Green, Calvin Johnson, elite size and athleticism - QB, This is more intangible than anything. QBs obviously have the most effect on the passing game and even guys that don't have elite physical ability can have elite results (Brady, Brees). I'd take a Christian Ponder or Jake Locker over say Justin Blackmon if I had the chance. And I really like Blackmon, but wouldn't pick him top 10. Rather trade down, get a Michael Floyd and extra picks.
  14. Yes. Nice trade, especially since it looked like Cashner would take another 2 years to get acclimated to the big league rotation. I wonder if this means Marmol likely won't be traded this offseason with no shoe-in to replace him as closer. I don't think Marmol was going anywhere this offseason anyway. But if they re-sign Wood there's a possibility. Carpenter is also still around.
  15. He hit the majors last year in San Diego. Didn't do very well, so I expect he will get more time in AAA and be up somewhere between May 1 and August 1. as TT mentioned, if you're going to bring him up before september, you might as well bring him up for opening day. Yeah, just read that. It makes sense, but you don't want the kid to come up right away and struggle again. If LaHair hits at all this spring, I think Rizzo goes down.

  17. Can easily go from a middle of the road farm system with little to no star potential players, to one of the top 5 with a handful of stars. I do kinda like this rebuilding thing.
  18. I used to be a prospect-whore, but I've never heard of Na. Heard of Ha, but not Na.
  19. This change seems less impactful to Jay than previous ones, though. Since Tice was already familiar with the offense, and should be on the same page with Jay, in theory. I don't think so. I don't see Tice running Martz's system at all. Best case scenario, the new QB coach becomes the next OC in a year or two. But worst case is that Tice/New guy run some 1995 scheme that waste Jay's ability, and they clean house in 2013, and the Bears try and go cheap on Jay's extension since his numbers won't be great, while Jay chooses to play for free agency and go to a team with a clue about offense. Please stop. I honestly don't know if I could handle that. That makes the Bulls post-Jordan era seem bearable (no pun intended).
  20. That is not an option.
  21. What do you(or other Iowa fans, for that matter) think of him? He's incredibly solid and consistent. He filled in for Bulaga when he was a freshman, and I don't think anybody really noticed Bulaga was gone. I think he's better than Bulaga was, and pretty close to Gallery. Not an Iowa fan, but I agree. I think he's clearly better than Bulaga was. And I think he's more polished than Gallery was at this stage. Gallery probably had more natural ability/athleticism at LT, though. I like Reiff better than Jonathan Martin from Stanford, and he's my #2 OT behind Matt Kalil, who I think is somewhere between Joe Thomas and Jake Long as a prospect.
  22. He knows firsthand the huge gap in talent between the Packers/Lions and the Bears and probably sees the AFC West as an easier opportunity. But he's also a draft guy. And a draft guy just chose to have no draft picks in his first year as GM. Granted he does get a solid team with some decent talent at almost every position, but the same can be said about the Bears in about 3 months (when they get a WR or 2). Even if the Raiders win that division based on their talent level, they still are clearly not a Superbowl caliber team, and they don't have the available resources to get there this coming season. The Bears on the other hand were 7 points away from the SB 11 months ago and were tied at the 3rd best record in the NFC when they were last healthy.
  23. I think this actually sucks for Lovie. Tice can't be seen as a long-term solution by whoever the GM is if he can't even be trusted to call pass plays. Unless the passing game coordinator/QB coach is dynamic and an up-and-coming OC candidate, this move reeks of being a 1-year solution for the new GM.
  24. This is what I figured would happen, but was starting to hope wouldn't happen. This GM thing is starting to piss me off too. Why wouldn't McKenzie hold out for the Bears job...you know, since we actually have draft picks?
