Well, I finally watched the IU live practice thing on ESPNU this weekend. It got me kind of hyped for the season. I don't think this is the #1 team in the nation, right now. Granted, they are as talented as anyone in the country, but I worry about how it will all come together. This isn't a team that can completely build on last year. Some guys will be in different roles, mainly due to Yogi joining the roster. A below average defensive team now faces the challenge of now playing a lot of defensive possessions with 2 sub 6-footers on the floor. Zeller isn't exactly dominant defensively in the middle either. So, I worry about a lot of easy baskets, especially when IU fails to get the full court pressure they will often play this year. On the positive side, Yogi should be able to get to the rim almost at will and create for himself, Zeller, or a shooter. And Zeller should be able to get any calls he wants in the paint, since he's America's golden boy this year. The keys are going to be getting more consistency from Watford (17.8 ppg, 46% f/field in last 6, following a 10-39 slump) and Oladipo (9 games over 15 points, 9 with 6 or fewer) and getting another guy to step up in the front court (Perea or Hollowell). This is a team that will out-talent teams to a 30-win season. But I do worry about a tourney flameout, when games are being called closer and a team manages to get Zeller in foul trouble. IU could go out in the 2nd round, or they could be an Elite 8/Final 4 type team. I don't think they are going to win a championship (mainly due to coaching and interior defense), but it'd be pretty exciting if they got close.
