  1. Guessing Javy will hit cleanup for Tennessee. Great spot to be in for a run producer. Szczur, Alcantara, and Andreoli all get on base at least 35% of the time. And all have stolen over 20 bases this year (2 levels for Andreoli). Good chance to have guys in scoring position when he gets to the plate.
  2. Barring injury, Baez should get 200+ PAs in AA. If he continues what he's done the last 45 days in Daytona, does he have a realistic shot at a May callup next year? Different regime, but Castro only had 260-ish PAs in AA (skipped AAA completely). Baez showed this spring he could hold his own in ML camp. This move puts him with a legitimate shot at being on the ML roster for good by June 1, 2014.
  3. I'll shut up now. Good call davell.
  4. Hearing Houston going after Rajon Rondo now. I'd guess Asik, Lin involved?
  5. I like Handzus. He's slow as [expletive], but he "knows how to play the game". A phrase I hate using, but seems to really apply to him.
  6. Speaking of "don't look now" but Javy Baez with 1-3, with a BB today, now has a BB/PA of .063. That's a pretty respectable number for a 20 year old kid in high A ball, that should only get more patient. Also that rate is over 10% in the last month and a half.
  7. That's crazy money for a guy with only one skill But he's the best in the league with that skill. I think he's worth the money, maybe not 4 years though.
  8. Baez walked and scored the D-Cubs only run in the 9th.
  9. I'm predicting that you are not even close to being right. I could see him staying in Daytona all year. Maybe a cup of coffee in AA if he has a July as good or better than his June.
  10. Good move for Stephens. It was always going to be interesting to see what job he would leave Butler for.
  11. If Jeffery, Slauson, Wootton, and whoever starts at LB with Briggs can get to above average and they can find a way to get Hayden off the field, this team has a chance to be special. Cutler to dark green would be most ideal though.
  12. So we're talking about getting a guy significantly better than Pierce Johnson and a guy on about Vogelbach's level? (Top 100 type and slot around top ten in our system). That's not a horrible return. About what I expect and that's even more valuable if those guys are close to the majors.
  13. I think today was the first indication that the discount you have to take when getting upper-level players is pretty steep :( My thoughts exactly. Get better prospects the further they are from the majors. That being said, I wasn't talking about 18-19 year olds. Any pitching prospect would have to be further along than Pierce Johnson but I don't think u have to limit yourself to guys that you need to help out right away.
  14. Not sure who the 2nd line C they'd get would be, but it seems like Pirri would be a better fit with Kane and Sharp. Speed, experienced goal scorers along side him. Also think it would take some pressure off.
  15. Jordan Hulls paid for his scholarshipsince he got his BA, CPA, graduated law school, passed the bar, and became a partner at a huge lawfirm in his 4 years at IU.
  16. I think this frees up the Cubs to go prospect heavy in the Garza trade, now that they don't need to necessarily get guys close to the majors for him. Of course I think I said the same thing last year re: Dempster after Maholm was traded.
  17. Wonder where he gets that from? :-k
  18. Hale is arguably in their top 20. Mid 90s FB. Change. Slider. I'd have taken the deal.
  19. Don't know if this is good or not. Could mean the Cubs are asking too much or that the bidding war is driving the price to high for the Os liking.
  20. Be interesting to see if Baez ends the year with more HRs or BBs. 17-to-18 right now.
  21. If Deng is a Bull in 2013, you'll never know if Snell can impress as a rookie.
  22. He's the best ESpn has to offer for basketball.
  23. Yeah best 2 picks so far. Though I do like Bennett at #1
  24. Or because he's a Tom Crean coached big man. There's several reasons.
  25. NO going to be the basketball version of the 85 Bears.
