  1. Alcantara breaking out of it? 3 for 3 with a walk, all singles, but 4 RBIs.
  2. He's going to start at RG. I do like James Brown, but Kyle has looked great from all accounts. Interested to see what that right side does in run blocking. And Long will see a lot of Suh at RG.
  3. Rated 15th by this very site. Again, not very far from where he is on this list. 10 is probably a stretch as I stated, but only a few glaring issues with this list. Its not terrible IMO.
  4. He's 8th? The highest he can possibly is 5. I have him 6 behind Pierce Johnson. "Not anywhere near that low" is not accurate.
  5. Vogelbach is having a big week.....In what has been a big month....in what has been a good second half. The power is down, but he's walking more than he is striking out, which is crazy for a guy with his power.
  6. Its not that bad. Jackson shouldn't be on it and switch Edwards and Szczur and it I can see the argument.
  7. Yeah he doesn't walk anyone. According to BA at the time of trade, 88-89 fastball, makings of a plus breaking ball, and starting to get a feel for the changeup. Projects to add a couple ticks to his FB as he matures I would suspect. He's so far away though but has the makings of a being a monumentsl steal for Campana.
  8. Nope. Just struck out in the 8th.
  9. I read it as $10 million total. Soriano has $5m total left this year when you pro-rate his total base salary from the beginning of the year to now and they are paying $5m next year. But the pro-rated remaining amount this year would be like $7.3M this year, wouldn't it? I guess I'm not really sure how they split out the pay checks and when they start paying them. You're right, if he paid evenly over 162 that's how much he's still owed yet this year. I still read it as the Yankees paying $10 million total 5 this year and next year. Whether or not the 5 this year is what is completely left or some pro-ration of the 7.3, IDK. I'm guessing it means. ..5mil prorated of his original salary. 5mil of the original 18mil or whatever Soriano was due at the start of the season. ..but they are only paying what is left of that 5mil as of the trade date.
  10. I honestly think I would have rather had one of those ML ready relievers. That's where Black will likely end up anyway (though he should still get starters innings). Cheap late relief is still very important for an ML team to have and I think a surer bet to be a good reliever is better than a lottery ticket arm in this case.
  11. Baez double. 2-5, double, Hr, but 2 ks.
  12. Is that 5 in AA now? 6. Out of 13 hits in AA.
  13. On paper, I think Trestman is going to be a decent coach. Best case he's a genius. Worst case, he's just there and doesn't really matter. But when he talks, I think he's going to be a disaster. I'm seriously afraid of a mass team murder after a loss.
  14. Yeah, the game I was talking about, I believe was his 1st loss, in extra innings vs. the Brewers. I may have been at his debut too, don't quite remember though.
  15. I'll never forget taking my wife (then GF) to Wrigley for the first time and seeing Bobby Hill and Todd Wellemeyer on the train after the game. Me and 1 other dude were the only ones in our area that knew who they were and people were talking trash about the Cubs around them. At their stop, Hill came up, smiled, and shook my hand. One of the most vocal dudes was like, "who was that?". And I told him that was Bobby Hill with Todd Wellemeyer in the seat behind him. He tried to take off the train after them but it was too late.
  16. Oh Facebook....one of my friend's status: My response, "yeah, because they were so good with them". He says, "yeah they weren't good, but why trade 2 of the best players on the team". And some other dude says, "They traded Garza for 3 'prospects'. WTF! Does every year have to be a rebuilding year." So, I blocked him. (not really) but I'm not responding and that'll show him!
  17. Marisnick and Yelich both got called up today. They all of a sudden are an interesting team to watch the rest of this year. Marisnick, Yelich, Stanton, Morrison and Fernandez is 5/9 of their lineup today.
  18. Olt not yet in the Iowa lineup, but interestingly, Vitters is playing 1B today.
  19. If Olt gets to the majors and sticks, Lake seems "stuck" in the OF. I hope he doesn't get put in a pure platoon situation, but he should be able to get plenty of starts either way. Plenty of ABs in a platoon w/ Valbuena at 3B. Same can be said for the OF with DeJesus and/or Schierholtz. Really don't know what to think of his prospects long term. He's very exciting to watch for now though.
  20. Individual players aside, they're essentially the Cubs + an elite bullpen. I really wonder when they'll make the playoffs again, I honestly think the Cubs might have a better chance. You mean as they are now? Or when healthy? Or are you assuming (safe assumption) they will never be healthy again (Jeter, ARod, Tex)?
  21. I've been on smaller planes. Maybe A smaller plane. I drive past the airport and where the private jets are "parked" everyday. I swear those things look like I can pick them up and fly them across the office.
  22. I don't want to really trade Soriano. Almost certainly won't get good enough value for him. Another case of a guy being worth more to the Cubs than he will be on the trade market. And to my surprise, he actually has been a positive influence on the Cubs young Latin players. That being said, maybe Olt was part of the solution to make up some of the RH power that will be lost when he is traded. With him and potentially Lake, the RH power isn't as desperate as it would've been without Soriano a week ago.
  23. Baez 0-4 2Ks, 2 groundouts. First K was on 5 pitches and he didn't swing at any of them. Been pretty much hacking since.
  24. Wonder if there was an opportunity for Odor over Olt. Seems the Cubs were pretty hellbent on getting Olt.
  25. Javy would win it. But yeah, that's a nice group of power prospects, especially considering Rizzo just recently graduated to the majors in the grand scheme of things. Vogelbach probably has the most raw power of the group, but is so far behind those guys developmentally. Soler's also a notch behind the rest in the power department at least at the moment. Going by strictly potential, not sure how I would even rank them.
