  1. Javy with an 8-pitch, 3-2 count, groundout to SS.
  2. Rhee lit up in the 1st. 4 ER, 5 hits, 2 HRs.
  3. If those 2 pan out, Castro doesn't ever have to hit his power potential.
  4. The Pick 6? Isn't that from his playbook. *rimshot
  5. And Javy on the board with an RBI single
  6. Szczur 4-5 only missing the triple for the cycle.
  7. i would say that bryant will probably start in daytona next year regardless of where he plays the rest of this season. although candelario's presence does make things a little more complicated. candelario should move up a level and bryant is too advanced for the low minors. maybe they do a platoon where one plays 3b and the other plays 1b or corner OF. wouldn't surprise me if bryant could handle AA right now, frankly. in other news, all the tennessee hitters have reached base safely except for baez. :( he's 0-4 but at least he hasn't struck out (2 ground outs, 2 fly outs) Daytona has the DH. They could alternate 3B and DH. Maybe some 1b (Jeimer) and OF (Bryant) also. I'd guess both will start at Daytona, with the goal of Bryant forcing a promotion after a couple months at most.
  8. Pierce Johnson's final line: 5 IP, 2 hits, 0 er, 3bbs, 6ks Baez 0-4, but no Ks. Did fly out with the bases loaded, no outs earlier in the game.
  9. Pierce Johnson throwing well after the month layoff. Now with 13 Ks in his last 8 innings.
  10. Not true. Gotta anticipate how the board will play out. I go off of ESPN rankings, and if I pick say 8th, I map out who may be there. Typically that would be players ranked 5-12. And I do the same for every pick in the first 6-8 rounds. Group players ranked 4-5 slots before and after my pick. Obviously with my preferences taken into account. Sure people will reach and players will fall, but that's an easy adjustment.
  11. Wow, that's pretty good. I was thinking that was about his ultimate upside. .212 ISOP is legit. Like was said, he leads the MWL in doubles, if some of those turn to HRs next year, he's as good of a prospect as there is in the Cubs system, outside of Baez.
  12. Yeah, Shea needs to be pretty good. And be pretty good, right now. At some point the Bears are going to have to get some top tier talent to pan out. Can't rely on a team getting sick of a franchise QB or a top 5 WR in the league, signing FAs, and getting late round position converts to find the best players on the team.
  13. anyone we would have picked in the first would have been under pressure to start. Not Trufant or Sharrif Floyd.....the best 2 players on the board. no, given Emery's first draft and the legacy of Angelo, picking depth in the first round would have been idiotic. Besides, the line was what we needed to make better. yeah, I wasn't arguing that though.
  14. anyone we would have picked in the first would have been under pressure to start. Not Trufant or Sharrif Floyd.....the best 2 players on the board.
  15. And CJ is done. Wang warming up.
  16. Almora, Vogelbach, Bryant in the 2-3-4 slots in Daytona's lineup and Johnson, Edwards, Black and Pineyro in the rotation would be the most exciting team the Cubs have had in years. And God forbid if Soler gets back somehow.
  17. Edwards started for Daytona....after 1..... they are in a rain delay.
  18. No need for Candelario to move up. I'd just put Bryant to Daytona if you want the both at 3B. Jeimer's only 19 and hasn't exactly mastered low A.
  19. ESPN Chicago story made it sound like Baez to AAA was a possibility as well. I'm good with those 3 moving up (maybe all together to Daytona). But I don't care if Baez ever plays in AAA. Nothing wrong w/ finishing the month off in Tennessee and starting next year in AAA, if necessary. I think AA is the better test for him w/ the lack of journeyman arms.
  20. I wouldn't have complained about Trufant. Funny now though, the OL is kinda dependent on Kyle Long to start. Granted, James Brown is there, but he'd be the sure starter without Long and Carimi around. Depth would take a hit.
  21. I cannot imagine that happening in a world where everybody knows the Cubs are acquiring any and all cheap labor they can get their hands on. If somebody was fooled enough into thinking this was sustainable, won't they have serious doubts once the Cubs think about dealing him? First sentence is my thought exactly. But I don't think the Cubs willingness to trade him matters if a team really wants him.
  22. You absolutely have to keep Graham. With Gronk Hurt, Graham is the best TE by a mile. There are other WR's like Green, Dez, Marshall, Julio that will put up numbers similar to Megatron, but I dont see any TE coming close to Graham's numbers. That's horrible reasoning and simply not true. First, Johnson's numbers were much better than everyone else's....in a season where his TDs were way down from the norm. Second, Johnson will outscore Graham by a mile. Why take the best TE over the best WR? WRs score more than TEs. You wouldn't take Buster Posey over Miguel Cabrera. Plus Graham was injured last year. It would be one thing if u had a great WR already, but u don't. U can still take one of those WRs and "settle" for a TE whoever takes Gronk's place or Tony Gonzales.
