  1. Really surprised the Dodgers didn't do more. Kazmir is a good pitcher, but that rotation looks to take a huge hit on paper with Greinke. And they really haven't done much else with a team that was probably only the 5th best team in the NL last year. Arizona and SF are gaining on them also.
  2. The Bears also could have picked Zach Martin or CJ Mosely over Fuller. Houston having the worst record didn't do them much good in that same draft. The could have had anyone they wanted and picked Clowney. Browns passed on Evans, Beckham, Donald, Barr, and Lewan for Justin Gilbert. It's not where you pick, it's who you pick. The answer to why a team doesn't come away with a better player isn't "they should have lost more", it's "they should have picked better".

  4. Jimmy Buckets is the man! Portis seems pretty legit too.
  5. I'm not, it's not 1 draft pick, it's 6+, each round we pick lower. Each round we pick worse Actually, the Bears are going to be tied with multiple teams whether they are 6-10 or 7-9. So, their pick will actually go up in each round because they will lose all tiebreakers and pick last in the 1st. The tied teams all move up (or to the end if first) one pick each subsequent round.
  6. A loss allows an opportunity to draft a better player going forward. We know what this team is and the outcome of this game won't change that either way. What does a win actually accomplish going forward? Feeling better about not crossing an arbitrary line into double digit losses? Any benefits they get from winning are really not quantifiable, so I'm not sure what Raw is getting at. And going from 16th pick to 12th doesn't mean they'll be getting a better player. The Patriots, Packers, etc. have done just fine with late draft picks. I know it can't be quantified, but I think it would be a big building block for a team that has struggled both vs. the division and in Soldier Field the last 2 years to kill 2 birds with 1 stone this Sunday.
  7. I'd really love to be picking in the top 12. But I don't want to have a 10-loss season. I think a win in this game is bigger in the long run than a few spots further up in the draft would be. The Bears have only won fewer than 2 games at home 1 time, and that was with a 14 game (7 home) schedule. Best case is Bears win. Colts beat Titans. Tampa beats a Carolina team that has nothing to play for (though, this is tough because AZ/Seattle play at same time). Saints beat Atlanta. Rams beat Niners. Rex keeps his former team out of the playoffs with a win. And Oakland beats an already "in" Chiefs team. Most likely though, the Bears win....and they'll probably pick 16th (Colts, Rams win). And if they lose, they'll pick 12.
  8. From 10th pick to 13th. Assuming the Giants hang on to lose tonight, they will join the Bears, Saints, Bucs, Lions, and Eagles at 6-9. Not sure how the tiebreakers work, but I believe the Bears get screwed because they had a harder schedule. I think 6-9 vs. easier schedule = higher pick than 6-9 with harder schedule (guess theory is the 6-9 team with a tougher schedule could have won 1-2 more if they had an easier slate).
  9. Also: That tiger thing is really my biggest worry right now.
  10. That was the game winner for all intents and purposes.
  11. Mainly because they don't take any chances to do anything downfield. Has Cutler attempted anything over 20 yards today? Granted they're playing a Cover 2 so your gameplan should be just take what the defense gives you and Bears/Cutler have been doing exactly that. Only one I remember is a bad miss to Miller down the sideline very early in the game.
  12. Odd that Cutler's best games this year have seemed to come without Jeffery. This is up there with KC as the best he's played. Very accurate with his non-deep throws.
  13. I thought Eddie Royal was a sneaky good signing. But he's been hot garbage, and he's owed a decent amount of guaranteed money too.
  14. IU loses another close, OT game. This time on a FG, that looked like it was good, but it was not reviewable because it was higher than the goalposts.
  15. Err...the Mets traded for Neil Walker a while back. Not really about that so much. I probably should've said LOLMETSFANS, because they wanted Murphy back badly, and instead he went to a division rival. I don't know any mets fans that wanted him back. Really? Seems like his postseason would have won a lot of them (read: meatballs) over. That actually surprises me.
  16. It sure looked like it. He was going insane and the refs were doing anything they could to blame others. Such a little bitch. In more ways than 1 apparently.
  17. That's really the wildcard here. Post move to SS Russell was a pretty decent offensive player, if he takes a step forward toward his full potential, the MLB may have to institute the mercy rule. that and soler going from a 96 wRC+ scrub to what we saw in 2014 and what we saw late in 2015. Yeah, that actually moreso. I was wrongly assuming we'd see closer to that Soler than 2015 Soler. Sorry Kyle. I know he's horrible and I'm stupid.

  19. Big win for the Hoosiers today. Down double digits all day to Notre Dame and ends it with a 40-17 run. From down 16 to win by 7. Very important to get their first non-conference win against a non-terrible opponent. Got a cupcake in Kennesaw St, then the conference season. B1G schedule is very favorable this year, with the 1st 9 games against teams IU can/should beat.
  20. I think I really like Zobrist in the 6th spot. I think the consistency with his approach is ideal here as either the "RBI guy" with Rizzo and/or Bryant on base or as a guy that can get on and turn the lineup over and getting the pitcher's spot to the plate. Plus, it breaks up Soler and Schwarber who both struggled at times to put the ball in play last year. It could potentially give the #2 hitter more to hit, if you believe that type of thing....and I think that's more important for Soler or Schwarber than it would be for Zobrist. I'd start off with Heyward Soler Rizzo Bryant Schwarber Zobrist Montero P Russell or Heyward Schwarber Bryant Rizzo Soler Zobrist Montero P Russell
  21. On one hand, it sucks that the 7th overall pick isn't going to play a single down for us in his rookie year. On the other hand, he wouldn't have made much of a difference this year (W/L wise), so next year the Bears will be adding a top 10 talent, with another top 10-15 pick.
  22. No way Tunsil gets out of the top 5. I'm happy with picking 10th though. Really opens up more of a chance to get an elite talent. At 17, the Bears were probably looking at getting a 2nd tier OT (Conklin, Decker), a 3-4 OLB with questions (Floyd, Clemson's Lawson), or a DL pick....while still not being a playoff team. And I'm not all that fond of any of those guys except your boy, Kenny Clark. At 10, this brings back into play guys like Jaylon Smith, Myles Jack, DeForest Buckner, Ronnie Stanley, and maybe an outside shot at Jalen Ramsey. Myles Jack on this team would make me insanely happy. Jaylon's better, but we could probably say "good-bye" to TEs destroying the defense in the middle of the field consistently with Jack on the roster.

  24. Yeah, I was going to say the Marlins have a shot, especially in that division. I don't think the Reds have a shot conversely, because of their division.
  25. The Bears can still get the 6th seed in the NFC playoffs or they could get the #1 overall pick. Win out and have the Vikings lose out (this for the most part is all that needs to be done, assuming GB wins tonight) Lose out and have Tennessee, Cleveland, and San Diego win out. There also may be tiebreaker stuff here if those teams all go 2-1 (other teams could factor in also) and there's a multi-way tie. I believe the team with the easiest SOS gets the #1 pick. I know the Bears did have the toughest schedule in football at least til last week, so IDK if they win a tiebreaker.
