  1. Add on tweet: Those last few Angelo drafts were brutal. Paea and Conte are the only ones left from the 2009-2011 drafts. Them 2, Wright, Wootton, Webb, and Melton are the only ones that gave the Bears more than 2 years of "production". Hester, Forte, and Earl Bennett are the only players since the 2005 draft to earn more than a rookie contract from the Bears.
  2. They were the 3rd oldest according to the report that came out before Week 1. Average weight is intersting. But the Bears do have a lot of players at the lighter weight positions. 3 QBs, 4 RBs, DBs. Even on the D-Line they have 6 DEs, 5 of which are sub 270lbs which is small for that position.
  3. Haha. Yeah. It's pretty terrible. Injury bug has already bit me and the league is really deep. So deep put my ass to sleep. Yeah, I have an ugly RB situation too. Lamar Miller Khiry Robinson Isaiah Crowell (picked up because of the Tate injury) and I basically have to start Ellington.
  4. Vereen over Floyd over Cooks Maclin, Cooks, Hopkins, Hilton weis- I guess Floyd, but that's ugly. Jeffery, Patterson- if you can only start 2 why do you have 3 WRs that good? When in doubt, always go with who you drafted first. Bush and Wright easy Rodgers
  5. May be time to get Williams and Bostic with the green dots. Maybe taking that responsibility from Briggs allows him to stop thinking so much on the field and just playing football.
  6. Briggs has always been one of the worst people on the Bears. He's typically been a bad person, teammate, and an A-hole. Funny how much more tolerable it was when he was a good player.
  7. Eh. He had 1 return and like 4 touchbacks. It's not really a big deal.
  8. Seems like Briggs is a [expletive] caller (I'm assuming he's the one who calls the play on the field). Didn't the same thing happen with Conte in the GB game where he missed the man to man and played zone? Seems like there are a lot of miscommunication on the defensive side the past 2 years. That seems pretty accurate based on what it looked like to me. Briggs hit the front side gap, forced a cut back, but got knocked down when he could have slid down the line and made a play. So that leaves Bostic and Mundy. Bostic was actually in a gap (got blocked). Mundy was just kinda there.
  9. coming soon to a 2015 baseball america prospect handbook cover near you. #sparkle
  10. Uh....I guess I trust him. I know it's odd to say after Angelo, but I don't believe a GM can only draft effectively on one side of the ball. Angelo kinda didn't care about offense, and had a coach that reiterated that. But I think Emery and Trestman legitimate think defense matters a ton and will get it right at some point. Hell, I don't think the jury is out on Bostic, and I think Sutton and Vereen will both be solid-to-good players. It's amazing how many of the defensive issues could've been solved by simply drafting Chandler Jones over Shea McClellin. Maybe you keep a rejuvenated Peppers. Maybe last offseason's FA money would've been spent on a stud LB, DT or safety. Agreed on Bostic. I can see him being a solid player going forward. I'm pretty confident in Fuller and Sutton, as long as they're healthy. And replacing Garza with de la Puente is such a great upgrade. Hopefully Garza doesn't get his job back when he's healthy. Yeah, Bostic probably had a decent game if you fault Briggs for the long Dixon run. I don't know where he was on the OT run(s), because I haven't re-watched, but he was fine the rest of the snaps he was in there. And I forgot about Fuller. No doubt he'll be good if healthy.
  11. [expletive]. Does that mean Jeffery is going to miss?

  13. Yeah, if you can get Allen, do the deal ASAP.
  14. Someone on Twitter cited the "stand your ground" law as a defense for Rice yesterday.
  15. Eh. I didn't like much of what he did. The punt return he had, he just needed to avoid the first guy (who was getting blocked into him) and he had a ton of room to run. Hester would have returned it 20+ yards easy, IMO. Holmes was also blocking on another play that I saw (so was Morgan). Believe it was 2nd or 3rd and long.
  16. I'm trying to think back to the last time I was convinced the Bears would lose a game, and they surprised me with a win. Last year @ Green Bay which started out as McCown vs. Rodgers? [expletive] happens all the time, with this defense I never expect us to win That's weird. Except for the worst years there's very few times any season where I am convinced they will lose, and those few times it happens it typically does result in a loss. I've been saying all offseason that this was a game I expected the Bears to win. I'm going to stick with that even though I don't know how much I believe that anymore. It's tough to go on the west coast, in primetime, and win against a contending team. But the Bears can play the exact same game as they did Sunday and beat the 49ers if you take away the 2nd Cutler INT or have a healthy Marshall and Jeffery. Winning this game would be more monumental than Sunday's loss was devastating.
  17. Holes? Garza will be upgraded today if they bench him. Briggs, Tillman and Williams are marginally better than their replacements. If all 3 were replaced today, how much worse can the Bears D be? Allen looks like he's about done too, Young clearly outplayed him.

  19. A [expletive] mazing
  20. The 49er seem to avoid using Kaepernick running extensively unless it's a close or important game. Obviously with the issues Jared Allen and the LBs had on the zone read, it might behoove them to run Kaepernick but they should be fine using him as a dummy and force feeding Gore and Hyde. But you'd think they could beat the Bears defense without unnecessarily risking his health. Yeah, the Bears have been hurt by lack of QB contain, but not by QBs running. They've been hurt by RBs running the ball. A lot of that has been on the zone read because the Bears have 0 gap discipline and apparently Briggs is just guessing now.
  21. Probably a little heavy on the nickel considering it was a predominant running team they were playing. But generally, you want your best 11 out there. I'd really like to see a lot more substitution on defense. I don't remember much of Houston inside in the nickel. Young only had 21 of 57 snaps. DJ only 22, while Briggs had all of them. I remember Shea on 1 nickel snap (had 1 more snap than DJ) and he blitzed unsurprisingly. Sutton and Ferguson only combined for 23 snaps. I thought Sutton and Young were extremely effective. I'd like to see a lot more of them and more rotation with the LBs and FS (McCray only played 11 snaps, Mundy played all).
  22. It's very likely that he was out of position on that play, but it should be noted that the Bills ran a read option on that play. It's possible, but not likely, that Briggs' responsibility on the was to tackle the QB, which he was heading into position to do. If that's so, other players have the RB responsibility on read option. Again, unlikely, but it's hard to cherry pick plays to show guys out of position without knowing how they were trying to defend the play as an entire unit. Nah, you can see Mundy out on the edge in the photo. He clearly has the QB. Briggs F'd up bad.
  23. DelaPuente is an upgrade over Garza. Based on yesterday and preseason, Ola will be solid enough. Re-sign Britton, cut one of the too many RBs. Keep Leno Jr active on gamedays. Depth is OK.
  24. But wasn't it fact that she was out cold? How do they think she got that way? From his fist as he tried to fight back her attack. Exactly. Still excessive no matter the story.
  25. LOL at 'became available today'. What a douchebag. What I don't get is why the hell did they need to see a video? Everyone knew he beat her up and dragged her unconscious body out of an elevator. The NFL saw the video and was like, "Oh we didn't know he hit her THAT hard". WTF does it matter? No to mention it's complete [expletive] that they didn't see it before now. The story they tried to go with was she attacked him and while he eventually hit her it was basically self defense. That's why they had her apologize and attend his news conference. But wasn't it fact that she was out cold? How do they think she got that way?
