  1. There's a big difference between a manager who wants something and a manager who will enforce something. Each manager enforces their pitchers to throw strikes. If they dont throw strikes, they wont be pitching for them anymore. Huh? You would be confused. I'm often confused by nonsensical rambling.

  3. I'm playing fantasy baseball for the first time this year. It's a roto league with basic categories. I'm an experienced Fantasy Football player so I understand that there are some nuances involved when trying not to embarrass yourself. Players that are valuable to your team may not be as valuable in fantasy and vise versa. I was wondering if some of you more experienced guys could give me a few hints so that I don't make a fool out of myself. Some questions I have off the top of my head: -Is it more important to get a player who is strong offensively in a traditionally weak offensive position or is it better to just draft the strongest offensive players where ever they are? Thinking about Fantasy football, most people don't draft a lot of QB's highly because the difference between a mediocre QB and an above average one isn't great enough to warrant that pick. I'm thinking the same sort of thing could be the case with a position like first base. Am I wrong here? -Generally speaking, which are the hardest categories to fill? I'm sure some of the categories are easier to get production for than others, so I'd guess there are some players that might rank higher than I would have thought. -What's a good ratio to have of starters and relievers? Do I want a couple of closers in my rotation to rack up the saves or is that stupid thing to do? - Do you go to any good websites that have good cheatsheets. I know cheatsheets are easy to find but I also know from Fantasy Football, that a lot of them stink like hot garbage. If you have any other tips for me, please share! Thanks!
  4. i was watching when this happened. he looked like he was in extreme pain. he was sobbing on the bench before they wheeled him out. Yeah, it didn't look like that bad of an injury, but he was in such obvious pain on the bench. Imagine being wheelchaired out due to a shoulder injury. It was a wierd looking injury.
  5. Maybe I'm being optimistic but it seems a little ridiculous to claim that there is no chance of an extension this early. Why break off negotiations at this stage in the game? Anyway, I hope they pay him because based on the players comments, they won't be too happy if he comes into camp without a new contract.
  6. I thought I laid it on pretty thick.
  7. I want a very important and slow player with a history of leg injuries to sprint out every ground ball on the microscopic chance he may beat out a throw. When he goes down with the inevitable leg injury and misses 30 games, I'll feel good about it because I give 100% at my job every single second and so should he.
  8. What adds to this is that a lot of the fans bust their butt in the workplace to make a pittance of what professional ballplayers make and have no patience for a player who doesn't give 100% effort to play a game. I'm not making a judgment on Ramirez one way or another here, but am just trying to give some perspective as to the reasons some fans have the viewpoints that they do. And yet a lot of the complainers don't really bust their own butts 100% of the time, but they get all sanctimonious when complaining about ballplayers because it makes themselves feel better. What is your point? I was merely giving an example of why some fans might feel that way. How does your post change what I said? He's pointing out the hypocrisy of the hustling issue. For some. Not everybody. Exceptions don't always make the rule. What? You can't possibly be saying that people who aren't putting in 100% effort every day at work are the exception to the rule, are you?

Totally agree. The "I bust my butt in the workplace" defense is a joke. No one is balls to the wall 100% of the time at work. NO ONE. But whenever this sort of topic is brought up, everyone is a dynamo.
  10. I think we all suspect that Aramis isn't really a "nose to the girdstone" type of guy. I could be wrong but, that's the impression that I get. What I do know is Aramis can rake. That's really all I care about. I doubt Manny is the last guy out of the weight room or the first guy at practice either. I would still love to have him on the Cubs. As long as Aramis isn't missing anything meaningful, I am not going to lose any sleep over this.
  11. Wood is the player that is interesting me the most before the season starts. With the weightloss and the move to the bullpen, I'm really interested to see what he can do. I really don't know what to expect.
  12. Also, something to take into consideration is that Babich was made an "assistant head coach" last season to prevent people from hiring him as their defensive coordinator.
  13. either that or he just did not have the right personnel. as good as the linebackers are, i've never seen so many blitzes picked up by opposing teams. I'm obviously not very knowledgeable about blitz designs, but it seems like most of the blitzes involved Urlacher or Briggs running directly into the back of a D-Lineman.
  14. I have also heard that Rivera wanted to blitz more often but was overruled by Lovie. I think Lovie made the right call. For all the hype about being a disciple of Jim Johnson, Rivera's blitzes were rarely effective and seemed poorly designed.
  15. Didn't see that this had already been mentioned.
  16. Rivera was hired by SanDiego as a LINEBACKERS COACH. Something is fishy. I'm not sure why he'd take a step back. Maybe this has something to do with why he never got a second interview. Maybe the media's perception of his coaching ability isn't the name inside the NFL. I'm not sure what to make of this, really. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2771716
  17. That's how it should be. Wisconsin beat OSU in their only matchup and have one less loss. The coaches have Ohio State at the top followed by Wisconsin. They're followed by Florida, UCLA, and UNC in both polls. Link to polls. Honestly, I wouldn't have been upset or surprised if OSU was first in both polls. Most of the poll stuff is just a product of who lost last. Yeah, I realize that. And going back to think about it, using my logic from before, I would put Florida at #2 ahead of OSU. I'm really looking forward to the OSU-Wisconsin game this Sunday. Should be very good. As a Wisconsin fan, I'm not really expecting to win. It should be a great game. Hopefully they can go right after Oden and get him into foul trouble.
  18. The jersey's look like a modified Cuban National Flag... http://www.embassyworld.com/embassy/Cuba/cuba_flag_.gif Why do the Cubs hate America?
