  1. Uh, it was the Brewers who needed to lose, not the Cardinals.
  2. Marmol always manages to find the strike zone. It's just a question of how many people will he walk before he finds it.
  3. It used to be Randy Johnson, but I think Hamels safely owns that title now. At least Hamels is a good pitcher. It's one thing to get owned by a good pitcher. It's quite another to get owned by a pitcher whom everyone else hits with no problem.
  4. It would be nice to see Theriot moved down to the 8th spot and someone who can actually get on base moved up to leadoff.
  5. That's another thing I don't understand. The past few years, it seems as though the Cubs have played significantly better on CSN than on WGN.
  6. What does the whole lineup look like?
  7. Yeah. I'm in the Cubs' "home market" and my cable company only carries WGN, not CSN. I get screwed out of watching over half the games. How does no one realize that the blackout rules make no sense at all?
  8. But what about Outta Sight Retro Night and Movie Underground??!!
  9. baseball prospectus put the cubs' playoff odds at about 1% coming into today. you're welcome. So your saying theres a chance. There's always a chance. The 1995 Mariners were 12 1/2 games out in August, and they made the playoffs.
  10. Holy crap. Gameday shows that ball about where the rooftops would be.
  11. You can't make a sentence without a verb either. ;)
  12. Well, that took entirely too long, but Cubs win! More offense like this, please!
  13. Would someone please tell me why the Cubs signed Howry?
  14. Yea, I'm in Cincy and that's pretty much it right there. They don't like us because we take over their park when the Cubs are in town, we have a high payroll, and we blame our futility on Bartman and a goat. I heard it all day today. They are the stereotypical redheaded stepchildren. Fairweather fans at their finest. It's brutal living in a town full of Reds fans, especially when the Reds are winning. I really hate living in this redneck town sometimes. Are there any Cubs fans actually blame losing on a goat or Bartman or does the media just create this? On another note, I suppose the media can be partially to blame for Cub hate. They play up the lovable loser crap and all that stuff and I suppose other fanbases probably get sick of that. I've never met a real Cubs fan who blames Bartman or a curse. The only people that think Cubs fans do that are the media and fans of other teams.
  15. Well, the Phillies did their part. Now the Cubs need to do theirs.
  16. At least I waved to you when I blew threw Terre Haute a couple of hours ago, eh? Sorry. I haven't left Marshall all day.
  17. So, the Cubs won game 1 of the '07 NLDS 9-5? That's news to me.
  18. Damn. That sounded like it was gonna go.
  19. Lou probably just flips a coin each day to determine who starts between Soto and Hill.
  20. Theriot 2B Colvin RF Byrd CF Lee 1B Ramirez 3B Soriano LF Soto C Castro SS Wells P
  21. Hes one of those Augie Ojeda/Craig Counsell/Aaron Miles/Jeff Keppinger types who the Cubs can never get out. Great point. His career .264 .301 .342 .642 line in 436 PA against the Cubs show that he's a force to be reckoned with. Keppinger: .252 .299 .273 .571 in 155 PA. Augie: .243 .333 .243 .577 in 43 PA. Counsell is the only one that comes even remotely close to being a guy they can "never get out", and that's with a line of .256 .362 .379 .740 in 356 PA, so yeah, these guys all suck and nowhere near being "Cub killers." But the reason people think of them as "Cub killers" is because they remember the two or three big hits they got against the Cubs. They don't remember the multitude out of outs they have all made against the Cubs.
  22. Vargas has hardly been a bad pitcher this year.
