  1. It's looked pretty bad all ST. I know it's only spring training, but I think it's time Lou give this lineup some work and let them swing their way out of their slump. I don't buy the thinking that we'll just start hitting in two weeks in a frigid Wrigley Field. The pitching and defense have looked solid for the most part, but the offense has been non-existent.
  2. Our thoughts and prayers with be with the Red Barron for a speedy recovery....
  3. Man, everyone talks about Pie like he is already a 26 year old washout. Wouldn't the 3 improvement areas mentioned be pretty typical for prospects trying to break into the bigs? Pie has shown a propensity to hit at every level, and if given the chance, I expect him to do it in the majors as well.
  4. Now, that's more like it...add Sori tomorrow and we're ready to roll!
  5. I'm with Lou, I don't care if it is spring training, but two blown saves in 2 innings makes me ticked off!
  6. I'll take 3 decent shutout innings by Marquis. Bruce, how did he look today?
  7. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/7149 I'm pretty sure it's Gio Gonzalez who came over from the Sox. At least MLB.com shows a G. Gonzalez on the mound.
  8. We went from throwing a one-hitter to giving up 4 runs in the ninth????
  9. Guess we can all stop worrying on K-Fuk not being able to get the ball out of the infield, huh? That blowhard, Mike North, just this morning was criticizing Fuk for his 1 for 7 start to the spring...what a moron.
  10. Didn't they say A-Ram was going to be out until Thursday? No need to panic boys, look at it this way, we haven't seen one towel drill!
  11. You can't stop Mike Fontenot, you can only hope to contain him! I like the '08 Cubs!
  12. May want to rethink that after Winn's bomb...
  13. Good start to the season! TheRiot on first
  14. Aaaahhhhhh, baseball is back! I'm going on record right now....we've waited long enough......THIS IS OUR YEAR!
  15. He's spent almost 600 million during his time in charge. The Cubs still have the longest professional sports streak with no championship. "We could be a lot worse off"? Is Hendry to blame for all 100 years? The amount of time since the last WS championship has little to do w/ Hendry's performance as GM. The only years that effect his grade as a GM are the ones when he actually held the job! I guess I didn't make my point clear. He's spent 600 million and they still don't have a World Series title. On the contrary, he has committed nearly $600M, and as we all know the Cubs will have at least 2 World Series trophies by the time that money is spent. Hendry has put together a team with 3 all-star position players (along with a two-time Japan MVP), a Cy Young contender and for the first time in my lifetime we're seeing a nice group of prospects making an impact. This is a team built to win...now the players and Lou have to take the next step.
  16. I don't buy this argument as a defense. We could be one hell of a lot better, too. Please elaborate...My questions isn't necessarily just for you, but I find many people on this board who rip into Hendry without providing better alternatives for moves he should have made.
  17. Musburger is one of only a few classic announcers left doing college football. When I hear his voice I know it's a big game..."We're coming to you live from the horseshoe in Columbus, Ohio". Consider me a fan...
  18. Even though Wrigley is technically a named stadium already, I would think whoever buys the naming rights won't remove the Wrigley reference. There's simply too much name recognition to it and if you thought the blacklash from the Marshall Fields name was bad, you've seen nothing yet. Maybe something like Wrigley Field at Oprah Park.
  19. We'd sell that obnoxious stadium out, just like we do in Milwaukee, Arizona, Atlanta, etc.....Oh yeah, and we wouldn't need a Pepsi half off--bring your dog to the park in an Elvis costume either! I'm for a renovation of Wrigley as long as it uploads the classic look and feel of the park.
  20. I don't understand the general feeling of concern that everyone has with Felix. He's been successful at every level he has played with, and I believe he's helped his team also reach the playoffs each year. Oh yeah, and he's only 23 years old. Most prospects don't even make the majors before this time, let alone deliver. Let's give Pie some time...he's be fine.
  21. I'd almost take the old 70s powder blue road unis for the boring as hell greys we currently sport on the road. If we do have to stick with the greys, make them sleveless with blue shirts underneath. Also, how about mixing in an old jersey every now and again...maybe for Sunday home games. Love the home pinstripes though...
  22. Yeah, I hate when we have a 1-0 lead after one batter...hey, if Sori is still a bit gimpy, all the more reason to hit HRs so he can jog around the bases.
