  1. Does anyone know what kind of bonus Tressel gives the players for making the BCS? :D
  2. Since last year at this time? This year will be more anticipated than that. Last year you had another major conference BCS team that was undefeated, so it wasn't quite as decisive. Plus, I think going into the game last year the overwhelming feeling was that USC was the better team, whereas this year most people think that the national championship game will be very competitive. Wasn't USC and Okla 1 and 2 when the season started? And didn't we hear all year about how great that game would be? It was hyped all year long, just as this one was. This one will be just as anticipated as last years but I don't see it being more anticipated. Just my opinion though.
  3. Since last year at this time?
  4. No, 'cause all they're supposed to do is match up the #1 and #2 teams. So kudos to the BCS! Kudos to the BCS for saying USC was going for a 3peat, when LSU won the BCS championship two years ago? That was sarcastic, going back to what was said at the beginning of the show. Sorry. I didn't pick that up.

  6. Why in the world did the BCS acknowledge that USC was going for a three-peat? That has to piss LSU off, plus makes the BCS look even more ridiculous than it already does.
  7. I am not sure if this has already been discussed or not, but the coaches votes will be made public for the first time this year. I am real interested to see how each coach votes. Anyone thing they are extrememly biased in their voting? Will they vote against their rivals, teams they hate? I think it will also show if they really pay attention or just pick teams based on the scores. I have heard many coaches are so busy that they don't pay attention and just have an assistant fill it in for them. Should be interesting to see. Here is the link
  8. You did a very good job of summarizing why PSU will win, but I don't agree with this. FSU has 4 losses and VT had one loss and look what happened. Win/loss record is not the most telling stat, IMO. I also think it is important to note that the Clemson and Florida games took place after FSU has already clinched their spot in the ACC Championship game. Now I think PSU will win, but it will not be because PSU has one loss and FSU has four. Everything else you said summed it up pretty well.
  9. Does anyone aside from a die-hard Oregon fan really think that if Oregon had hosted Texas and traveled to Penn State, that the Ducks would really be a one-loss team? O$U suffered close losses to two of the top three teams in college football, whereas Oregon got trashed at home by USC. Oregon isn't as good as Notre Dame or O$U, I feel pretty confident about that. I agree. There "good win" lost three straight, and they played a disgraceful non-conference schedule. The only reason I would like to see them in a BCS is because I am confident ND would defeat them, whereas with OSU, it is very likely that ND will stuggle, and (I hate to say it) lose. I also think that the way they are begging the Fiesta to take them is a bit too much.
  10. FSU and Georgia are both locked in as well. The new USA Today Poll 1. Southern California 2. Texas (7) 3. Penn State 4. Ohio State 5. Oregon 6. Notre Dame 7. Auburn 8. Georgia 9. Miami (Fla.) 10. LSU 11. West Virginia 12. Virginia Tech 13. Alabama 14. TCU 15. Texas Tech 16. Louisville 17. UCLA 18. Florida 19. Boston College 20. Wisconsin 21. Michigan 22. Florida State 23. Clemson 24. Georgia Tech 25. Iowa Oregon continues to climb, even as their schedule gets weaker. Now it is my turn, I think Oregon is overrated :D . Any chance they will jump OSU in the BCS and get the automatic bid, leaving OSU out of a BCS game?
  11. All of your game predictions are right, but I believe it is the top 4 teams in the BCS who are guaranteed BCS bids. Ohio State should be #4 on Monday, and the Irish will get an at-large bid. Top 6 is only a guarantee for ND. Therefore ND and OSU are in all likelihood guaranteed a spot. Also read today that the Fiesta Bowl is offering the Orange Bowl 2 million to pass on PSU and pick OSU, so the the Fiesta can have a ND/PSU match-up. That was before the VT loss so who knows what will happen now. That's not true. Utah was a top 6 last year and they were guaranteed a spot. Excuse me. top 6 for ND and non-BCS teams. BCS teams who are top 6 are not guaranteed. Also if a non-BCS team is top 6, then ND becomes guaranteed if they are top 8.

  13. He is a man-child.
  14. That's not Linda Cohn. I think it's Pam Oliver, but definitely not Linda. Ah, my mistake. I had it on for a second and thought I heard her voice, which then caused me to immediately change the channel.
  15. That sucked. IMO Brey is not the right coach for this team. ND is playing my school in two weeks so I will be at that game, and I hope they play well. I think Brey is a fine coach, but he doesn't have any talent on this team. Every player has an obvious flaw. Francis is maddeningly inconsistent, Quinn and Falls can't create their own shot, Kurz isn't big enough to be effective inside, etc. etc. I like Chris Quinn a lot but he and Francis can't win games by themselves. This Irish team has no depth. However Jay Bilas and Bill Raftery had nothing but good things to say about the freshmen, Ryan Ayers, Kyle McAlarney and Luke Zeller. There's reason to hope the team will be good in the next couple of years, just not this year. There is no excuse for last years team. Lattimire (sp?) and Francis inside and all they do is shoot 3s with Quinn, Falls, and Thomas. Brey knew Lattimire was only going to be there for a year, and he did nothing to take advantage of that! Last year was, IMO, the best team they have had in awhile, better than the Sweet 16 team of three years ago. I think Quinn is going to go the Thomas route and start throwing up absolutely obscene shots instead looking for teammates. How he holds the ND record for assists is beyond me. Zeller will be a stud.
  16. I don't see much of Jackson, but doesn't he do strictly west coast games? Musberger is beyond terrible, especially when he finds his special player to obsess every game. Chris Gamble was the worst. "Gamble's lining up in the slot! What could this mean?" "Gamble's covering a WR that Purdue doesn't normally throw to! Interesting turn of events." "Gamble's drinking lemon flavored Gatorade instead of his typical Grape! More bulletins as events warrant!" Yea he only does West Coast games on a semi-retired basis. Also I believe Linda Cohn is doing the D1AA game on the duece right now!
  17. The hyperbole is over! Perhaps you could explain that a little more? I don't quite get it  That was his opening statement when the camera went on him and Dan Fouts. I think he was thinking simile or metaphor. I missed that! Wish I would have seen it though, LOL. I liked it last week when when Stanford spiked the ball, and he yelled, "It was slapped out of his hand" and when corrected he followed up with "You mean he actually, literally, spiked it?" Then mumbled something about " no times out left"
  18. The hyperbole is over! Perhaps you could explain that a little more? I don't quite get it
  19. For all the flack Holtz gets as an analyst, I think it is worth mentioning that Jackson is an equally bad broadcaster. He says some of the most ridiculous things ever. The Joe Morgan of CFB
  20. That sucked. IMO Brey is not the right coach for this team. ND is playing my school in two weeks so I will be at that game, and I hope they play well.
  21. I just found out last week that I will be at that game. A very good friend of mine is a die-hard PSU fan, but he has ND season tickets next year through his work, so as long as he is still employed, I will be there. I am very excited for ND and PSU to play again.
  22. Teams get ripped for kicking field goals to pad leads too. 4th and Goal is a no-win situation for a team with a huge lead in a football game. A field goal is reasonable, and expected, on 4th and goal. A TD is not when the lead is that big. It is classless. Because either way, the points are meaningless. If you kick the FG, you're going for easy, gimme points. I have heard of many teams that will never kick field goals on 4th down when they're up big. Besides, the play you're talking about, Texas was up 37-13 with 10 minutes left to go in the game. That's not an overwhelming score like you're making it out to me. I would guess that most coaches would go for it on 4th and goal from the 1 yard line in that situation. I've seen much, much worse examples of running up the score, like Steve Spurrier, or Ohio $tate throwing deep on Illinois with under 3 minutes to go in this year's contest and a 38-3 lead. I have never heard of a team that won't kick a FG on 4th when they are winning. Perhaps I am wrong though. I was not making it out to be an overwhelming score. I didn't see the game and was just going off of what CPatt said. IMO when a team is up big, the second team should be in and the team should show some class, and going for it on 4th and goal is not classy. That is just my opinion though, and I will admit that 37-13 is not a completely safe lead. Yes there has been much more classless acts by teams.
  23. It really pisses me off to see Texas passing. Why? Just run the clock out. If they score via pass, it will be an absolute disgrace.
  24. Tell us how you really feel about Favre.... Give me a break, he's getting older yes, but he is still a very good QB. Kinda hard to have a decent year when you have noone to play with. You don't think his consecutive start streak is impressive? I agreed with you until you said his starts streak was impressive. The way this team is looking right now, there's no reason Brett shouldn't at least let Aaron Rodgers see a few series per game to see how he fits in with the offense. if Favre comes back next year, there is no point in really seeing Rodgers get playing time this year. I would like to see him get some snaps in, but I don't think Sherman is going to do it. It's still Favre's team and it will be his team until he retires. and b2ck, give me a freaking break about how his talent has decreased. Look at the players around him. Were on our 5th string RB. Antonio freaking Chatman is our 2nd receiver (and he's actually been a surprise this year.) Our offensive line has a center playing out of position in Scott Wells and a 7th round rookie guard, Will Whitticker. Bubba Franks, Favre's favorite red zone threat, has been hurt for the first time in his career this year. There is NOTHING around him, period. Hey, truly good quarterbacks make their teammates better, and judging from your analysis of Favre's teammates, Favre sucks. And saying it's Favre's team until he retires is putting one player--a mediocre one at that--above the team's good. That is a ridiculous argument. Favre should make the Oline block better? Favre should help establish the running game? Favre should walk his recievers through routes and help them get open? Favre is undeniably a great QB. He is declining in skill but he is still solid. He can't help the fact that the rest of the players on the field are sub-par. I don't think he has anything to do with their athletic abilities, and you're assumption that if he was good, the rest of the team would be good, is very inaccurate, IMO.
