  1. "It's got home run distance and it's a double." 😄
  2. It is getting really hard to remain interested in this team. They aren't very good.
  3. Anything new on Brennen Davis tonight?
  4. Maybe I just don't have it in me to be upset about Kyle, but did it really even matter? If the offense can't score, I don't care which reliever did or didn't give up runs. Unless the offense starts producing, the Cubs could have Mason Miller pitch out of the pen every night and it wouldn't make any difference.
  5. The same Orioles who hadn't been swept in like 2 years?
  6. Agreed. They all suck at hitting, but at least Bote has the possibility of slug.
  7. If the Cubs are giving away prospects simply to avoid paying the luxury tax, they are doing this all wrong.
  8. I was fully expecting a first pitch double play from Happ... But not like that.
  9. Mark Aguire, huh? I bet there are upwards of 20 people at the game tonight who know who he is.
  10. Repeated shots of the sideline reporter during a critical moment of the game are really unnecessary. I think she was getting uncomfortable with it as well.
  11. That assumes everyone getting healthy, which is a rarity. If he continues to get hit hard in the bullpen, that will be the end, but if he can come in and throw a respectable 2-3 innings when needed, there is room for him on the roster as a low leverage/long reliever.
  12. I'm no expert on MLB service time, but doing some neophyte back of the napkin math on this... PCA was called up 9/11/2023 and remained on the roster through the end of the season on 10/1, so he accumulated approximately 21 days of service time. He was called up again on 4/24/2024 and remained on the roster through 5/21, accumulating another 27 days of service time. He has currently accumulated 48 days out of the required 172 to gain a full year of service, leaving him short 124 days. There are 130 days remaining in the season. Unless I'm missing something in my math, another week in AAA (give or take a few days) would be enough to ensure that he doesn't reach a year of service in 2024. If that is the case, it absolutely makes sense to send him back down to get regular at bats for at least a week or two and then reassess where the roster is at that time.
  13. How far away is PCA from the Cubs getting another year of control? I do think he could use consistent at bats in Iowa, but I'm sure buying an extra year of team control is also a secondary factor for his demotion.
  14. With all the talk about changes to the forums, this is a perfect example of something that should have its own thread and be discussed in the Transactions forum. I'm my opinion, the "all today's topics go in the current day's game thread" makes the board very difficult to follow unless you are keeping up with everything on a daily basis. Someone shouldn't have to dig through hundreds of posts in a game thread to find out about roster moves such as this one.
  15. Remember when the bullpen was this team's big concern? Those were the days.
  16. This middle infield reminds me way too much of the Paul Noce / Mike Brumley combo the year that both Sandberg and Dunston were injured.
  17. I never really liked Beth Mowen, but what happened to her? I would take her over Zaidman anyday. Surely there are countless better options available?
  18. I haven't really looked around baseball to see whether other teams are experiencing injuries anything near what the Cubs have. If so, are we getting to a point where maybe a 40 man roster isn't enough anymore? Has there been any discussion whatsoever about possibly expanding that?
  19. Another day, another DL stint. This time it's Porter Hodge coming up to replace Colten Brewer (lower back tightness).
  20. I have also seen several instances of him taking odd routes on fairly routine balls, like he isn't getting a good read on them and has to adjust at the last second.
  21. "Forget about it, this may go" is the new "It might be, it could be"
