  1. Surely it will be awkwardly crammed into whatever sliver of open space is available, and not replacing any existing signage.
  2. My all-time favorite player is Mark Grace. My favorite on the current team is Kyle Hendricks, obviously not based on current performance.
  3. None whatsoever. My conclusions are based on a sum total of 4 at bats. There is no way I could be wrong!
  4. There is no world in which I'm happy about paying $9M for a 36 year old Hector Neris.
  5. I have to imagine intentionally limiting his usage to avoid hitting the option could lead to a grievance as well, so I suspect we are stuck with him for another year.
  6. Does either of them really have a market? I'm sure the Cubs could get someone to take Smyly if they send cash with him, but are they actually going to get anything in return? Similarly for Neris, his vesting option for next year probably kills his value.
  7. He might be, but there is no reason to think that he is. The manager still has to write out a lineup.
  8. I don't absolutely love the return, but the combination of Leiter's age and his history of forearm injuries leads me to think this was probably the right time to get rid of him.
  9. Neely is huge. I'm looking forward to the Little/Neely setup man combo.
  10. If they use it all on ONE bat, I'm all in.
  11. Can they hold the opponent to -1 runs. If so, they can win a lot of games!
  12. You mean you don't like the world where Bellinger doesn't opt out, Neris hits his vesting option, and the Cubs were in the luxury tax this season, leading to an offseason with minimal financial flexibility?
  13. I don't know exactly where they stand, but I was under the impression they were already likely to be SLIGHTLY over even before the Paredes move.
  14. Someone told me the season was saved. I was misinformed.
  15. That is really hard to fathom, especially for a team that had little incentive to outright tank the season.
  16. I like Nico as a player, but I understand that he is also somewhat flawed as a hitter and is playing at a position where the Cubs have a lot of near-MLB prospect depth. From that standpoint, I can certainly understand the Cubs being open to dealing him. I hate it from a parent perspective though, with my 7 year old really starting to get into baseball and Nico being his favorite player. I can still vividly remember being at the Museum of Science and Industry with my older son the day that the Cubs traded Bryant, Rizzo, and Baez and having to talk him through a partial meltdown. That's life, and that's baseball, but it does change my perspective a bit on what I want to happen versus what I think "should" happen from a pure baseball standpoint.
  17. Ugh. Unless he is traded, that's nearly a done deal.
  18. Can we please stop pitching Neris everyday? How is the pace looking for his vesting option?
  19. Patrick Wisdom - Saving the season one game at a time.
  20. Should be interesting to see what the Cubs can get for Leiter. In this buy/sell mode the Cubs are currently in, he is absolutely a guy to sell.
