  1. Len seriously needs a Home-run call. Swung on, belted!
  2. The link on cubs.com is reporting Bowen and Blevins. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070716&content_id=2090118&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc
  3. If Griffey only cost us Marshall, I would be fine with that. We're not going to get him for a couple mediocre prospects and I would be fine dealing one of our soft-tossing lefties for a huge left-handed bat. Yes it would create somewhat of a hole in the 5 spot, but most other teams have that same hole.
  4. He's in the last year of his contract and I'm assuming the Cubs would pick some of the remaining money up, so he would be a fairly cheap "solution" to anyone desperately needing middle infield help. That's desparation at its finest. The Orioles are playing Brandon Fahey at SS, they are desperation defined. Sadly--or maybe more accurate--amazingly, the Red Sox have Lugo there and we all know how bad he's been. Izzy would be a cheap help to them perhaps. Just spitballing here is all. Thank God we didn't sign Lugo.

  6. I wonder if the Cubs lead the league in errors at the catching position?
  7. I believe most of the complaints about Wrigley come from players/reporters in regards to the clubhouses, press boxes, etc. As a fan, I have no complaints and think it looks great, but I think some of the players feel differently based on parts of the stadium that we don't get to see.
  8. Wood could potentially be a nice insurance policy, but I see absolutely no reason to count on him or to rush him through a few rehab starts. Especially with an 11 man staff, the Cubs can't afford to have a guy who can only pitch every 2 or 3 days. I think Wood should remain in the minor leagues for several rehab appearances until/unless he can prove that he truly is healthy enough to pitch on a consistent basis. I'm a huge Kerry Wood fan and I hope more than anything that he can come back and contribute to the Cubs, but I still think it's too early to count on him for anything until he proves that he is ready.
  9. I disagree. Jones is occupying the spot that should be held by a 12th pitcher and I'm not sure how much longer the Cubs can get by with the bullpen working as much as they have recently.
  10. If Maddux wins his next start, does an 8-4 record get him into the All-Star game? I'd love to see him back there again, I just can't help rooting for the guy.
  11. Your car analogy doesn't apply to the situation. Try this one: If you bought a car and it broke down and ended up being unrepairable, would you let it sit in your garage taking up space that could be better used by one of your other cars? Or if you had an offer to give you a small amount of money to get rid of that car, wouldn't you take it even though it may be well below what you owe?
  12. Anyone else think the Marlins are just trying to hold Hendry hostage up against the deadline of tonight's game and squeeze as much money out of him as possible?
  13. It is when you consider that nobody else on the roster can play SS for more than an emergency fill-in role... which means it's going to be all Izturis all the time.
  14. This is an absolutely horrible decision. Now we have Izturis at SS every day for at least the next 10 days.
  15. From a 6/25 Paul Sullivan article... http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-070625cubsbits,1,7362179.story?coll=cs-home-headlines Sounds a little overly optimistic, but it's at least good to hear that he's going to start throwing again.
  16. So who goes down tomorrow if Jones doesn't get traded? I think it would have to be Pie, and that sucks...
  17. So was tonight's run from 2nd base to home the farewell tour for Jacque Jones? Will he be gone by tomorrow night when the Cubs call up another pitcher?
  18. Apparently because nobody will take Jacque Jones. The Cubs and Lou Piniella are pretty much hamstrung due to multiple bad signings.
  19. For what it's worth, I Just heard on ESPN 1000 that Kerry Wood has a bullpen session scheduled for tomorrow.
  20. Hawk needs to let it go. In order for it to matter, the Sox offense would still have to be capable of scoring a run.
