  1. Why is it that every time the Cubs play late games on the west coast, the games are exactly like this? Cubs fall behind early and it never feels like they have a chance...
  2. Is anyone else watching on MLB.TV? I got an email a couple weeks ago to subscribe for $19.95 for the remainder of the season so I gave it a shot. The video quality is horrible (even on the premium feed) and extremely choppy, sometimes freezing for up to a minute or more. I have very high bandwidth connection and I really want to watch this game, but it's almost too frustrating to watch. Does anyone else have these same problems?
  3. 3-0 Brewers on a 3-run Bill Hall home run in the 1st inning.
  4. I say we stick Soriano in the 5 spot and leave him there, no moving him back to leadoff when he goes hitless for 2 games. He's had plenty of hitless streaks in the leadoff spot as well.
  5. ESPN just cut back to Wrigley Field... it's coming down VERY hard at the moment.
  6. I really question the decision to even start this game. Hopefully the weather miraculously clears up and the game can be finished, but there is no indication of that happening.
  7. So if Zambrano is done for the night, can he come back in a couple days to pitch again? Wednesday night or Thursday afternoon?
  8. Maybe the Cards would send Ankiel to the mound in a spot start? I've been wondering if LaRussa would ever consider using him as a pitcher in an emergency situation, or a late-inning blowout BP saver. Probably not with the mental issues that took him from the mound. I agree. I don't think that should ever be an option. He worked very hard to get back and I think it would be too much of a risk to put him back into that position. I enjoy seeing bad things happen to the Cardinals and I have to admit I took some satisfaction in Ankiel's inability to find the strike zone, but I still think it's a really good story that he was able to get back to the major leagues and not have his career completely ruined. I hope he can still enjoy a semi-successful career, while somehow not helping the Cardinals win along the way.
  9. Isn't it always Miller and Morgan on Sunday Nights? Yes. Unfortunately.
  10. And the Cubs have never recovered... First Lou Brock, then Greg Maddux, then Calvin Schiraldi.
  11. I hope this is just a matter of Hendry putting claims out on several players and then evaluating his options from there. This would be a horrible move for the Cubs, especially if they were to give up anything with any amount of value in return. If I were Kenny Williams, I'd probably just let him go... "You claimed him, he's all yours!"
  12. I don't know about Hubbard, but Ced Landrum may still be floating around somewhere. Maybe he has learned how to steal first base.
  13. I'd like to think our starters are better then this... Yes, but our offense is also incapable of scoring more than 2 runs on most nights, so our starters will have to be a lot better.
  14. Don't get too excited. The Rockies will probably do the same thing to us this weekend.
  15. Like Lou has a choice. He has a choice when it comes to putting in Marmol/Howry when the Cubs are up by 4 runs, instead of using Wuertz/Ohman/Ehre in those situations. Would you feel comfortable using any of these three? With a 4 run lead, yes. Ok, so maybe not Ohman... but Wuertz and Ehre are perfectly capable of protecting a large lead.
  16. Like Lou has a choice. He has a choice when it comes to putting in Marmol/Howry when the Cubs are up by 4 runs, instead of using Wuertz/Ohman/Ehre in those situations.
  17. Yep. Milwaukee is going to get hot again eventually and they will pull away unless the Cubs can turn it around. This has been a great opportunity to hold onto a division lead and start building a cushion, but none of that has happened.
  18. I'm shocked that loading the lineup with all right-handed hitters didn't work... it has worked every time until now!
  19. When was our last home run? Friday? I can't ever remember a Cubs team with so many long home run droughts.
  20. This division is there for the taking, and we're not taking advantage of it. This is so frustrating.
  21. I was indifferent to the Cliff Floyd signing, but I expected a LOT more than this out of him. He has always been a good hitter when reasonably healthy, and this year he has been reasonably healthy, so what happened?
