I guess the Mets have found the new loophole to quickly rebuild a minor league system. Sign star players to huge contracts, then trade them along with truckloads of money to bring back top prospects.

Oh, absolutely. If we're looking at Mancini vs. Wisdom in a vacuum, that's an easy choice to make. I'm surprised the Cubs made it though.

I wish this meant Mervis getting a shot at 1B, but as of now it just seems like the Cubs want to keep Wisdom on the roster rather than Mancini

Cross Nelson Cruz off, as I don't believe he is currently active.

While that is true, the Cubs wasted another 94 at bats on Eric Hosmer. It would have been nice to have just given Mervis that opportunity from the start. Maybe it still would have ended up the same way, but Hosmer was never going to work out.

The Cubs' 1B situation is about as open as it gets, minus Tauchman complicating things a bit.

Then again, Stroman's return likely wouldn't be nearly what we thought it could have been a month ago, and Bellinger still gives the Cubs the comp pick, so how much are they really losing out on?

I don't know, but if true, that is an interesting stat seeing they have played 65 games against teams over .500 compared to only 41 games against teams under.

I take that back. I think that's only if he is outrighted. I believe he still has options to assign to AAA without being outrighted.
