  1. We need them to play the world-beater Nationals instead.
  2. I'm pretty much conceding the division. Just try to hang on to a wild card spot.
  3. Can't even hold onto an 8-1 lead. This team is running on fumes.
  4. Lost in everything else was another solid outing from Kyle. Outside of the first inning struggles, he has been really good.
  5. I always go back to only overturning the obvious missed calls. If a reasonable person can look at a replay and immediately know that they blew the call, overturn it. If you have to study 3 different angles to make the conclusion that he was "probably" out, then the call stands. As it is currently, they definitely stray too much into the subjective territory.
  6. At least they are hitting the ball harder now. It only took 8 innings.
  7. When/why did Kyle go away from throwing the curveball? A 2 pitch pitcher with one of those pitches being a mid 80's fastball wouldn't seem to be a great recipe for success. He has still been getting by pretty well, but was his curve really that bad to take it out of his repertoire almost completely?
  8. The old Lovie Smith, "the second half of the fourth quarter of the season" trick.
  9. Pretty sure he was just reducing it down to the 3 remaining games.
  10. Easy win! All I'm asking now is 7+ scoreless innings from Kyle tomorrow.
  11. This offense needs a shot in the arm. It's time to try something different. Get Mervis in the lineup, something. It can't get much worse.
  12. Are the metrics available in a way that breaks his 2 strike contact out separately from everything else? The eye test gives us our hypothesis that his 2 strike approach is skewing the data, I would be really interested in what the data shows.
  13. Even if Stroman comes back, the Cubs absolutely have to address the starting rotation. They can't go into the season being one injury away (Stroman, Steele) from disaster.
  14. Definitely not my parents. I always have to listen to them complain about how they can't stand Boog and all his stats.
  15. It feels like we "survived" the Tigers. Now take 3 out of 4 from the Pirates and all will be well going into the Milwaukee series.
