  1. Canha is an awkward looking dude. Just catching the ball at first base he looks like he's going to fall over.
  2. I wonder if he's doing that simply as a way to give himself extra time between pitches.
  3. That was an outstanding approach to put the 2 strike pitch in play. He has some special hitting skills.
  4. Knowing the restrictions that going over the luxury tax this year will impose on the team in future seasons, is it really worth it in this case? Yes, it would be great to have to have one or more of these guys on the roster, but how much can they actually impact the outcome of the season in 1 month? Is this really where the Cubs want to start pushing their chips in? I'm all for going over, but knowing the Cubs approach to the tax, I'm not sure it's the smart thing to do.
  5. So basically, "we're out of the race so let's try to pocket a few pennies on our expiring contracts"? Let's hope their attendance tanks accordingly.
  6. The new security scanning at Wrigley has led me to question whether anyone is actually paying attention and would they actually catch someone sneaking a weapon into the ballpark. It certainly makes entering the stadium easier, but it often doesn't seem like anyone is actually monitoring the entry points with the exception of the ticket scanners. I walked in with a backpack last night and nobody said a thing. Are they still supposed to manually check bags/backpacks or are they relying on the security scanners? I have no idea. With that said, I'm sure this latest incident will result in all the MLB clubs reviewing their policies, so hopefully that serves as a wake-up call to anyone who needed it.
  7. No, but he should have been pitching around Adames.
  8. Nothing but 2 solo home runs against Miley. Taillon was bad, but we needed a lot more offense either way.
  9. I never thought Taillon was any good, but obviously he wasn't this bad before. What is different this year?
  10. Even the outs were absolutely ripped. Get someone up in the pen.
  11. I completely agree. I'm taking one of my kids to Wrigley tonight, my dad next week, and my other kid next weekend. I can't remember the last time I've been to 3 games in such a short timespan. It's fun to be playing meaningful late-season games.
  12. Hijacking this old thread and specifically your comment here, my parking strategy for day games for the past 20ish years has always been to park in the area north of Irving Park to the west of Southport. Unfortunately, this year the LV2 parking restrictions have been modified so that parking past 5pm is prohibited if there was ANY Cubs game that day, even if the game is over. That doesn't work if I want to grab dinner or a few drinks after the game, or in the event of an extra innings game. Does anyone know how much further you have to go north and/or west to get out of the LV2 zone?
  13. I would certainly hope Stroman can recognize there is nothing personal in a team potentially valuing a 28 year old star outfielder over a 32 year old pitcher, especially when his performance in the second half of the season has validated the Cubs decision to let him walk.
  14. I saw a guy with a Bagent jersey at my son's baseball game today. Actually, it was an old Bears #17 jersey (probably Alshon Jeffrey) with "Bagent" taped over the nameplate, but that still counts.
  15. It is unfortunate, but I wonder how far away we are from a Brennen Davis DFA. There was still some hope going into this season, but it's appears now that he might be finished as a serious prospect. With the upcoming roster crunch, is it really worth dedicating a 40 man spot to him after this season?
  16. I'm hoping for 4-3 or better over the next two series, but I'm trying to temper my expectations. I won't be overly upset if the Cubs lose 2 to the Brewers and split with the Reds. I think the Reds series is much more important and I just don't want to let them gain ground in the head to head games.
  17. Wouldn't have mattered because the throw wasn't on time, but unsurprisingly Wisdom couldn't come up with the easy pick at first.
  18. Looking ahead to next week, the Diamondbacks have the Dodgers and Orioles, so I'm ok with them winning this one.
  19. It's so hard to know who to root for right now, but my general preference is to knock a team or two further back from the race even if that means another team jumps ahead of the Cubs.
