  1. Why is Canario here right now? I'm not arguing that he should be starting in the middle of a pennant race, but then why is he on the ML roster? The guy has missed a majority of the season and needs at bats wherever he can get them, so what good is it doing anyone to have him watching games in Chicago? If they just needed a roster-filler, they could have called someone else up for now.
  2. You are absolutely right. Take any of those other players off their team and it would still be a good team. Take Bellinger off the Cubs and they are likely under .500 and looking at another high draft pick.
  3. I recall it being mentioned before. Didn't that used to be a real thing with some of the old timers?
  4. Unfortunately I think you're being a bit overoptimistic on that one. I haven't heard any timeline whatsoever, but my guess is closer to late September if at all.
  5. Funny that seems exactly like something that Taillon would say.
  6. Why do the Cubs give up so many 3rd outs in the bases? And this one with Bellinger coming up. Stupid.
  7. I always thought Taillon was bad, even when the stats didn't necessarily support that. I wonder how much the Cubs outbid themselves to sign him.
  8. If the Cubs are serious about trying to make the playoffs, it's time for this guy to get the Smyly treatment. I don't care if it's Shane Greene, Killian, or whoever else that takes his spot, but continuing to run a guy out there with a 6 ERA is not working.
  9. Let's try hanging hittable pitches in the middle of the zone.
  10. The good news is Arizona and San Francisco both lost. The bad news... Just when it looked like a gap was opening up ahead of Cincinnati and Miami, they are both right back in the picture now.
  11. I get it, but who else isn't playing that should be? It's not like the Cubs have a hot bat sitting on the bench.
  12. How does that correlate with the heel injury? He sure doesn't show any signs of being injured on defense though, so that probably has nothing to do with it.
  13. Hypothetically speaking, if Stroman came back this year, what do you do with the rotation? Send Taillon to the pen? Go to a 6 man for the rest of the regular season?
  14. And I don't think anyone was suggesting that Alzolay has been anything but great this year. But there have been signs recently that he isn't quite as sharp as he has been for a majority of the season. Is it fatigue or just a random down period? Who knows?
  15. Is Dansby basically bad Javy right now? A little less chase, a little more reliable on defense, and a little less power, but very similar performance.
  16. Also, that was a pretty miserable offensive performance. There are legitimate things to complain about.
  17. It was bound to happen sooner or later, but I feel like he's been walking the tightrope recently with some hard hit balls and would-be home runs if not for the Wrigley wind.
  18. 17 innings of great baseball and the one guy we really trusted to get the job done couldn't do it. That is unfortunate.
