  1. Man, Candelario has been really disappointing after that hot first week with the Cubs.
  2. What is this cheat code that everything the Braves hit carries over the outfielders' heads, while the Cubs' batted balls all die in the outfielders' gloves?
  3. Eh. If they can limp into Milwaukee still tied, they have a shot. Maybe getting out of Atlanta, and with the Cubs fan energy in Milwaukee, they can bounce back and put one more mini run together. I know I'm probably being over-optimistic, as all signs point to this being over, but I'm not completely ruling them out yet.
  4. As hopeless as this all feels, all it takes is a Mets win tonight and then Cubs still have a reasonable shot. If the Marlins win, then it becomes highly unlikely.
  5. It's an all around choke job. Everyone is trying to do too much (and failing).
  6. Bad Stroman is going to cost us pretty good Hendricks...
  7. If this team is going to be remotely competitive next year, I don't see any way they stay under the luxury tax threshold. They will have to spend more than they did this year to even get back to the same level again.
  8. Rob Manfred here... I hear you have concerns with the number of teams making the playoffs. In that case, we will add 2 more. Everyone will love it, and you will know that because I will say it is true!
  9. Yes, but I also can't fault the decision for having them in. But I did think, even before the hit, that he is too good a hitter to give any extra advantage to and I would have played back and possibly conceded the run.
  10. Just wait until the Marlins and their -58 go to the NLCS.
  11. I agree. If anything, most of what has happened has reinforced what Ross said. Maybe they could have given Canario a bit more of a look, but I also understand not wanting to throw him out there. Maybe Mervis could have given them some production, but he wasn't even on the roster. PCA is clearly trying to do too much and probably shouldn't even be here right now. Who else isn't getting a chance to contribute that should be?
  12. Over the course of a season, you are probably right. Tonight's game was lost almost entirely on skill though.
  13. That's a subject for argument. Who is most at fault for the state of the bullpen? Is it Ross for misusing his high leverage relievers by not giving them proper rest and leading to a rash of (mostly forearm) injuries. Is it Hoyer for not building a deep enough bullpen to withstand the injuries, and/or leading to Ross overusing the high leverage guys due to a lack of options? Is it just bad luck that everyone got hurt or burned out around the same time?
  14. You got it. If not Mastrobuoni, then who? He's the best of the not-great options at this point.
  15. Just checking, is the game over yet or is Acuna still talking victory laps around the outfield after stealing second base?
  16. Say what you will about Ross (he isn't a good in-game manager), this team is an indictment on Jed Hoyer.
  17. Seriously, why are we even scoreboard watching at this point? This team doesn't deserve to make the playoffs, and if they back in they aren't going very far anyway.
  18. Meanwhile, the Marlins are about to take the lead in the 9th.
  19. Well, maybe this is the game we win by scoring a fake runner without the benefit of a hit or walk.
  20. Best "top"? More like best every part of the order.
