  1. So the Cubs are going to run by communists who will brutally murder the current incompetent management?
  2. I'll still watch... through the first third of an inning until Prior blows it and gives up 464379258 runs. Seriously, if he pitches like he did in his first start I'm turning the TV off and not checking back until tomorrow.
  3. He does look thin, but I think it's just the lighting in the picture. On the plus side, I'm glad he is going to have some rehab ABs before he comes back to the team.
  4. Somebody start the next game thread so we can wash away the stench of this thing.
  5. you're being "SARCASTIC", right? Sadly, no.
  6. Is anybody still watching the game? It's pretty quiet... EDIT: Twins 5-1, boy the Cubs suck. I think I'm going to root for the Twins for the rest of this one. Denial is much better than being a Cubs fan.
  7. The only reason to trade Barrett would be if the team is going to completely rebuild. He is 29 years old and in the middle of the best season of his career. I don't care how bad he is at fielding, he is a better hitter than almost any other catcher in the league. Unless they can get something very valuable for him, there is no good reason to get rid of him.
  8. I have finally joined the ranks of people hoping the Cubs tank. I still want the players who should be here next year (Prior, Zambrano, Lee, Ramirez, Barrett) to do well, but the rest of them can go to hell. Even then, management will probably remain the same, but since the season is over as far as a playoff run goes, they might as well suck to their full potential. Then maybe, just maybe, someone competent will be put in charge and they will have a better chance of rebounding in 2007.
  9. Trading Prior for a so-so player based on his first start back. No, that's not a knee jerk reaction at all, is it? I don't care if he sucked today, he is worth a hell of a lot more than some mediocre stop gap. His trade value is going to much lower than his real value going into 2007, so why trade him? We might as well keep him until he becomes a free agent. If he can't put up a healthy season by then, I'll be ready to get rid of him. Otherwise, there's no good reason.
  10. For those reveling in Prior's crapiness, it is still early to say that he is done. Still, I am not watching the rest of this game.
  11. I think it is probably still the back thing that is keeping him out. Which brings up an interesting quesiton. Can players retroactively serve their suspensions?
  12. Some would say that it is too early to call the game at this point, but realistically, I'd say it would be a pretty safe bet.
  13. Two things: 1) People need to stop using the phrase "2 hole." 2) Has anyone explained to Dusty that Perez can't even hit the ball? It isn't like last year, where he at least had a respectable batting average but drew no walks and had little power. He can't hit at all anymore. Our first two hitters are even worse than they were last year.
  14. And two outs. Edit: How many at bats is that out of? It doesn't seem like that much of a distance between team BA is sustainable.
  15. Why are Len and Bob talking about Godzilla?
  16. [Pessimism]Well, this game is over.[/Pessimism]
  17. Wood is looking a bit better this inning. Let's hope it lasts.
  18. They said the reason Wood didn't pitch earlier was that he was feeling stiff. Maybe he's not 100% today.
  19. And the Cubs start the end of another streak of good play... They've proven the pitching is gone tonight, but is the hitting still there?
  20. But dude, he was being aggressive. Can't fault kid for being aggressive. at Baker and Cline for setting back Murton's development because they wanted him to be "overly aggressive." Murton needs to develop "selective hearing" and go back to what he has done well. Go back and listen to what the coaches taught you at GTech, cause they are real coaches. It could just be a slump. Even patient hitters have them. He'll find his plate discipline again.
  21. They should've won today. Terrible pitching and bad fielding did them in. Hopefully the hitting streak keeps up for the rest of the road trip and they can move up a few more games.
