  1. Three of the possible answers are kind of stupid. Speed, because it isn't a big enough part of the game to count as a major area of need, relief pitching, since the Cubs pen is already as solid as most in the majors, and bench depth since the team has weaknesses in the everyday positions now. It really comes down to the same question as the other recent NSBB poll, ace or power bat?
  2. Apparently you can contain your excitement long enough to increase the font size considerably.
  3. Good call to lift Marquis. But hasn't Marmol pitched in the last 189,357 games?
  4. Not good. They need to pull him after the first baserunner.
  5. Marquis throw a complete game? That's just asking for trouble.
  6. Cubs need at least 2 more runs to make sure that Dempster has a good padded lead if he gets in the game.
  7. With Marquis on the mound, anything could happen in the 7th, even against the anemic DBacks offense. Need to get Howry and Dempster warmed up.
  8. That was a pretty pathetic throw by Kendall.
  9. Not to mention that he can actually get on base.
  10. Amazingly not his fault this time. Can't expect Marquis to hold a 1-0 lead for a whole game.
  11. That shouldn't be a surprise. The lineup sucks when Lee, Floyd, and DeRosa are all out at once.
  12. What's Webb's PC? Only one person needs to answer this.
  13. Good Jeebus, hit the ball somewhere other than the ground for once.
  14. With this lineup... they need to start hiting Webb, but it doesn't look likely.
  15. It was only a matter of time before Marquis gave up something. Cubs need to hit Webb.
  16. There are plenty of players that reliably suck. Neifi comes to mind.
  17. I'm pretty sure there was an error when Jones reached.
  18. The way the DBacks are swinging the bat, you could have Glendon up there throwing batting practice and he'd still have a shut out going. The only really good thing Marquis has managed to do is not walk anybody, and he's come close once or twice.
  19. This is looking like a particularly futile matchup offensively for both teams.
  20. Making the debate over who to pull for more or less academic, for tonight.
  21. I can't believe that last quote from the article by Melvin. Was that a joke, or was he just really pissed? Not the obvious fake joke one by seth, the original.
  22. but now bonds is going to be on sportscenter!   I'll be a lot less angry if the Cubs end up winning today, but the umps just can't give the game away like this. If Bonds comes up in the 9th, there will be no called strikes. I don't care who he is, he shouldn't get the benefit of the doubt when the ball is clearly a strike.
  23. Gameday is always messed up, but both of those pitches to Bonds were at the very least borderline, the second one being a pretty clear strike.
