  1. Every year I get the worst luck with this crap.
  2. Quick Tabs makes looking at all these pages way easy.
  3. One thing to be said - if we end up carrying 12 pitchers like we have the past few years, this gives us the flexibility of having another pinch hitter on his offdays. *trying to find some shred of light*
  4. Put me down! I am down! That could quite possibly be the worst trade I've ever heard (from the Mets standpoint).
  5. I work closely with a number of people who have political views significantly different than mine. That doesn't preclude their right to have the job. You shouldn't discriminate in baseball any more than in any other job. I'm not saying he doesn't have the right to have the job, just that I don't want him on the team that I love. I could not in good conscience root for someone like that.
  6. what are his politics? how do you even know what his politics are? I don't get it either. I could care less if a guy has diametrically opposed views to me on each & every issue. You deliver a WS to this old Cub fan? You're a saint. He and Kurt Warner were in political ads in St. Louis during the WS opposing the stem cell research proposition that was on the ballot. As a person with a science background, I found the ads offensive because they so blatantly distorted the small amount of truth what they were saying contained. Plus they're idiots for having their viewpoint, but that's just my opinion. But, back on track, Suppan will be too expensive for what he's worth. Even though Weaver's agent is Boras, I think he'll try to sign a short term deal to get his price tag back up and then strike while the iron is hot after Duncan fixes him. No thanks to Mulder, we have enough of those already. Exactly.
  7. I want absolutely no part of Suppan. Not necessarily because of his pitching, but because of his politics.
  8. Looks like we're interested in every single player this offseason.
  9. I never wanted a 26 year old man from Japan, sorry. No mail order husband?
  10. I think the Seibu Lions would see that as a huge slap in the face. They'd be out millions in the posting fee they would receive, and they would have to pay Matsuzaka's salary for another year. I just don't see a Japanese player disgracing his team like that. I'm sure Boras probably said something like this, but probably just an empty threat IMO. Wow, that was creepy. We just posted almost exactly the same thing at the same time. Get out of my head!
  11. While that's true, it'd be a pretty crappy thing to do to his team (Seibu) by agreeing to go through the posting process, have Seibu plan on having the extra income not only from the posting fee, but also from money saved on his contract only to have him be too greedy to work out a contract. That'd be an awkward year between him and the front office who would end up losing him a year later for absolutely nothing. I'd like to think Dais is a good enough character to not screw the team that's supported him this far for a few extra bucks.
  12. Iwamura has expressed a desire to play pretty much any position on the diamond. He would be worth a look-see, imo. I agree, but Fukudome would be great too. Is it me or is Fukudome the most comical name ever? Look at how it's spelled, then seperate the letters. Dick Trickle Rusty Kuntz http://www.baseball-reference.com/k/kuntzru01.shtml
  13. Can Soriano actually play CF or is all of this just speculation and fans' fantasy?
  14. Think we could get them to pump the Benny Hill theme song through Wrigley when he's on base?
  15. What's the chances we like where this ends up? :( Right now I'd say about 15% based on gut feeling alone.
  16. Does anyone have the full Arod trade from when it happened? All I remember is the Yankees gave up Soriano and got Arod back. There had to be other players involved, right?
  17. Jim Hendry has decided he likes fast slap-hitting midgets that catch the ball. Do they all get along, though? Yes. They will all ride to field in the same car. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y290/tovalondner/midgets.jpg Car full of midget! Who is driving? Oh my god, Bear is driving, how can that be?!? http://www.shipbrook.com/karen/blog/images/smbear.jpg
  18. Soriano and Schmidt could be our two if there are at least 15 Type A-B. Pierre leaving would give us one more. The good thing is that Daisuke would not be subject to that quota if we can land the winning bid. All the more reason we should go hard after the Dais-man
  19. I like that he said he tells the pitcher to throw strikes, and the rest of the decisions come from the pitching coach. A good hands-off approach is great, especially if the rumors about Dusty ignoring Larry were true.
  20. If I were Jim Hendry I'd go on a diet.
  21. A 115 million payroll would give the Cubs roughly 35-40 million to spend this offseason. Even if five million were eaten up in Ramirez's extension, there's still plenty to improve the team. :) Yusssss!!!!! With this kind of payroll bump there's no excuse not to go hard after Matsuzaka. I'll be disappointed if the Cubs don't make a contending bid.
