  1. For once, I actually agree with ESPN's list. CubsinNC, they said they weren't counting anyone that's been injured most of the year and they shouldn't. Even the best player is overpaid if he doesn't play most of the year. If that was the case, than Bonds should top the list. They also are looking at what the players being paid, regardless of who's picking up the tab. Therefore, Boone and Sosa fit right in.
  2. Up late I see. ;) Glendon has owned the Cardinals in the past and basically was a major reason the Cubs were afloat until the last two weeks of September last season. He gets PLENTY of credit in my book! :D You got me, Outshined! Not to mention, his versatility for you guys. He really has done whatever has been needed.
  3. I don't think Cubs fans give Rusch enough credit.
  4. I thought this post was prefacing, "Neifi Perez is coming"!
  5. Definitely a silly move with Fassero! Don't understand it at all!
  6. There is no doubt the Cards are hurting in a big way. Molina, Rolen, and Sanders were flukes a la Prior. Walker was predictable, given his age and injury history. Pujols is a concern as well. If he goes down or is ineffective due to injury for any period of time, no pitching performance is going to save us in the short run. I am hopefully optimistic, but playing .500 ball at this point is questionable. After empathizing but not experiencing Cubs injuries the past couple of years, I am just now understanding. Very frustrating.
  7. They lost last season when it counted the most while he was hurting. Regardless of Cubs fans pointing out it was a career year for Rolen last year, he's still a career .283, .375 OBP hitter (including this year's .235 AVG). His loss is huge for the Cards, not considering his defense.
  8. Cpatterson, I was sec. 221. row 1. Didn't know you would be there.
  9. Vance, I went up to your section in the middle of the 7th and tried to find you. My husband even yelled your name in the front row. Too bad we didn't get to meet. Excellent game although I would have rather been where you were sitting. As it was, I was almost directly over Neifi's shot and had a bird's eye view.
  10. What a series! I was right on top of Perez's HR. Truly a heartbreaker for Cards fans. Nicely done by the Cubs team tonight. Who woulda thunk Perez and Blanco???
  11. Vance, are you going to be there tonight? I would absolutely love to meet Addison after seeing her pictures here.
  12. Another great game. Cubs and Cards always play each other tough. We had it set up with the right man at the plate. Well done by the Cubs 3,4, and 5 guys and a solid outing by your 5 pitcher.
  13. I didn't know Dempster was so charming. I am now a fan.
  14. Zambrano pitched one of his classic games at Busch. He is definitely maturing and I'm sure the Cubs will benefit. He didn't even freak out over the first inning homer. He outpitched Carp definitely, although I admired Carp's chutzpah.
  15. Great game, guys! So far the games between Cubs/Cards have really respected the rivalry. Some great baseball. Looking forward to tomorrow's game.
  16. Thanks, sorry to bump, and I can't believe I forgot Rusch.
  17. No responses?
  18. Do the Cubs only have one true bullpen lefty in Ohman (not including Remlinger)? Or is there someone else I'm forgetting? Just trying to size up this weekend's matchups.
  19. Will you shave one off if they sweep? No...., no shaving, but I would raise both of them..., just like Dan Plesac's wierd eyebrows. If the Cubs sweep, I'll raise you your raised eyebrows for a body painted Cubs logo streaking incident. I might pay to see that! Go Cubbies!!! You gotta go to the east side for that. Busch is a family place. Did I mention I was talking about my cat? Of course, he's always going around streaking.
  20. For us fantasy leaguers, if Wood is out, who will take his place on Mon?

  22. Molina just isn't a significant loss. Walker being injured is to be expected, and Edmonds hasn't really missed any time. He may play hurt, but not very hurt. Ramirez has played hurt for us for the better part of the last 2 seasons. Sanders kind of hurts, And Rolen being hurt might make up for him playing way above himself last year. As for the Cubs, injuries have hurt a bit this year, but nothing like last year. The 2004 Cubs were good enough to lose 3-4 guys and win the division too, but just not the guys they did lose. In my 20 years of following baseball, I can't remember a team more screwed by injuries as the 2004 Cubs, or a team that seemed as blessed as the 2004 Cards. The bottom line is we're facing you guys this weekend shorthanded. And we haven't been "blessed" this year. We've had injuries and we're still in the same spot we were in this time last year. If you're going to comment on Walker being injured should be expected, the same holds true for your pitchers. Sanders is definitely a loss, our second best power producer this year. And although you discount Molina, you probably wouldn't rather face us all three games with Blanco. The Cubs/Cards schedule this year worked to your definite advantage unlike last year.
  23. How bout guys like Rolen, Sanders, a shaky Edmonds and Walker, and Molina (one of the best defensive catchers in the NL)?
  24. http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/stories.nsf/cardinals/story/A808A73498B0FE71862570440015F989?OpenDocument Looks like we'll be coming at you with the fearsome 1-2 punch of Diaz and Mahoney this weekend.
