If you have XM radio, you might want to listen to the rebroadcast of MLB Live on 175 between 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Central time. I was listening to the live airing of the show this morning on my drive in to work and the hosts, Mark Patrick and Buck Martinez, got into a discussion about Dusty and the Cubs. I'm paraphrasing here but I think I have the gist of it. Patrick mentioned that the Cubs were a fairly common topic of discussion among the media at the World Series and the near unanimous consensus of the writers he talked to was that Dusty was a bad fit for the Cub organization. The main concern that was mentioned was that Dusty spends too much time worrying about stuff that he can't control, like what is said about him and the team in the media. In other words, he's way too thin-skinned. Martinez pointed out the obvious, that this team isn't athletic enough, relies to much on the long ball, etc. and said its often very overrated. He also tried to stand up for Dusty and said that the problem could also be the team is a bad fit for Dusty instead of Dusty being a bad fit for the team. Be interested to hear people's thoughts on this.
