  1. In case anybody is interested, here is a brief agenda courtesy of minorleaguebaseball.com: http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/milb/events/wintermeetings.jsp?mc=_agenda_events
  2. Why would Wood agree to uproot his wife when she's expecting and from Waukegan to move to Texas? Why would we trade a 27 yr old enetering a prime where he has a great chance to win an MVP award for a guy leaving his prime? WHy would we want Hank Blalock? His away splits don't lie. So we agree this is a ridiculous idea then. :D
  3. I'll say he picks up another starting pitcher and deals for an outfielder.
  4. I'll say two. No basis in fact, just a guess.
  5. Where does Hendry throw away all that money if he gets Wilkerson and Bradley? You know he has to spend it or people will riot. A raise for Macias? Brutal. I nearly spit out my soda when I read that. Well done.
  6. US manager and a portion of the roster to be announced at 2 p.m. CST today at the Winter Meetings. Active ML managers cannot manage any of the teams in the tournament. The MLB on XM morning show is dropping hints that the manager will be Buck Martinez. I'll be shocked if it's anybody other than Lasorda.
  7. So how exactly should Hendry have "closed" these deals early? What should he have done?
  8. If the Cubs pick up a shortstop Cedeno will be effectively nailed to the bench. Dusty's pet will get the majority of the starts at 2B. That's Dusty's way of thanking Neifi for the recruiting job he did on his "friend" Furcal.
  9. Ok, I'll ask. Why would the Rangers trade Blalock for a guy coming off of arm surgery?
  10. Too bad Hendry can't void Neifi's deal and dump his useless butt. The only reason to keep him was to help recruit his "friend" Furcal. Now that he's failed at that he's a waste of a roster spot.
  11. It's always about the money. Especially when they say it isn't. Why else would Furcal sign with a ballclub with no plan and no manager? Because of the LA school system?
  12. So if the Cubs pick up Lowe and Wood can pitch this season: Zambrano Prior Wood Lowe Maddux Dempster Eyre Howry Williamson Rusch Wuertz/Ohman/Wellemeyer/Novoa/Williams/Hill Who am I forgetting?
  13. Farnsworth in pressure situations at the Stadium? That'll be fun to watch.
  14. While I'm worried about Baker screwing Murton out of playing time by using Mabry, I'd much rather have Baker mis-using Mabry than Baker mis-using Macias. I guess that's progress. If nothing else changes, we know these will be four of the bench guys: Mabry (L) Hairston ® Blanco ® Perez (S)
  15. Is Kerry Wood on the 60-day DL? If he is he doesn't count against the 40-man.
  16. Heck I think dealing for Beckett and Lowell would be great for no other reason than Lowell could back up both ARam and DLee. It would almost certainly spell the end of the Gremlin. the bench would look like this: Blanco Lowell Perez/Cedeno Hairston Back-up OF Back-up IF/PH
  17. If Wood's on the 60-day DL I don't think he counts against the 40-man.
  18. They thought a big trade was coming at the deadline too... Hey now, he got Matt Lawton...
  19. MacPhail's quotes about Baker reinforced my belief he's not going anywhere for awhile.
  20. Interview starting now. It was taped at GM meetings.
  21. Caught the last few seconds of an interview with Andy MacPhail on XM's baseball channel this morning. It will be reairing shortly on channel 175 if you want to hear it.
  22. He fits into a comfortable spot in the dugout where he can watch Neifi get all of his playing time. ](*,)
  23. Although there have been several others through the years who should have been...
  24. WHere in the heck would you play Thome? He can only play 1st or are you planning on dumping the younger and better Lee after the spectacular year he just had? Paul Rogers had an interesting take in Sunday's Trib, where he mentioned the possibility of Thome leaving Philadelphia. Rogers said the Cubs have no use for him now with DLee, but if the Cubs had signed him 3 years ago when Hendry had the chance, 2003 could have been the year we won it all. Made me think for a moment. Why? Was Thome going to move to shortstop?
