  1. The score is wrong again- 2 breaking stories in 2 days, both wrong. "Jeff Berry, the agent for Mark Buehrle, said in a telephone interview Wednesday afternoon that he was surprised by a published report that stated the team had resumed negotiations with the White Sox's left-handed ace and that a deal could be finalized by the end of the week. "Nothing's going on," said Berry, who did acknowledge he was in the Tampa area. "Despite what's been [published]. "I'm not sure where those reports are coming from." Berry said he hasn't spoken recently to Sox general manager Kenny Williams and said his client's status remains the same since the end of spring training -- in which any negotiations won't resume until after the season, when Buehrle becomes a free agent."
  2. the deal isn't falling through. "Tribune Co. (TRB) accepted for payment 126 million of the 218.1 million shares tendered in the offer, at a price of $34 a share. The shares tendered represent about 90% of shares outstanding, and the shares that Tribune will buy back represent about 52% of shares outstanding. Following the repurchase, Tribune said it will have about 117 million shares outstanding. The company said it will begin payment for the shares no later than June 5. "
  3. I agree. I really enjoyed the clips of Sammy on the pregame show. It brought back a lot of fun memories. Congrats to Sammy.
  4. You, like Jim Hendry, greatly overrate Izturis's defense. He would look great on this team but in defense of trading him it did take the kid awhile to figure it out... something he might not have done in Chicago. And also in defense we did get Nomar at the time (correct?). and Murton.
  5. Joe Borchard
  6. I doubt the Cubs are impressed with his decision to take the 72 hours. His production better really step up and his defense in RF better really improve or he won't be seen in Chicago for a very long time.
  7. not in the lineup... OF is (left to right) hoffpauir, walker, coats. Wonder why Murton isn't playing; I think he has to be in the lineup every day. Daryle Ward is playing first for the I-Cobs tonight, btw, and Soto is back at catcher. My guess is that Murton has decided to take his whole 72 hours available to him to get to the minors-which should mean that he should be in there tomorrow night. dumb move on his part. His production has sucked and if he sulks about the move, then he'll been worse off. Heck, in 110 AB he has 1 hr and 8 rbi, Fonentot in 30 ab's has 2 hrs and 9 rbi. My guess, we won't see Matt before Sept callups.
  8. It isn't sad. If he doesn't hit, doesn't knock in runs, then he has no place on the roster. Why would anyone move Soriano out of left to play a Matt Murton?
  9. Hope he gets the time to regain his hitting stroke and his confidence. It is a good move, because he is truly lost at the plate.
  10. Let me know when Murton hits a ball hard. Geez, go to Iowa and learn to hit again.
  11. Murton would the one to go down. It would help him get some at bats.
  12. You would think teams would be lined up trying to get him. But that isn't happening, is it? He's a fourth outfielder at best. Why would you move Soriano to play Murton?
  13. I really [expletive] hate this [expletive] BS. Someone disagrees with me?? They must be a stupid kool aid swilling Trib subscriber who doesn't care where the team's going. God forbid they want to keep one of the best players on the team, whose contract may not even be that unreasonable in the new market. And the Cubs have won their dvision 3 times in the last 23 years, 4 playoff appearances in that time, but you were probably too busy drinking in the bleachers and peeing on yourself stupid wannabe Cub fan!!!! OK, that's way out of line, clearly a personal attack. Knock it off. Cause the context was really hard to see as I responded to his calling everyone who disagreed with him a koolaid swilling fan content with lucking into the postseason. Did you even read the rest of what I wrote? lol, your post doesn't even make sense. His is far better than your's.
  14. Murton has now officially joined the NSBB most overrated players list joining the HOF's Jason DuBois, Bobby Hill, Hee Sop Choi and Ben Grieve. I would think he would be easy to trade and get top prospects from other teams that value him as much as NSBB does. I just wonder who does though.
  15. No, he doesn't. Not even close, really. Are we really arguing over a below average player and an even more below average player? You are very correct there. Not really. VORP/WARP in '06 Matt Murton: 16.2/4.5 Angel Pagan: -2.7/1.0 Murton sucks as an outfielder and can't drive in runs, what do miss about those facts? BTW, it is 2007 and Murton has done NOTHING.
  16. No, he doesn't. Not even close, really. Are we really arguing over a below average player and an even more below average player? You are very correct there.
  17. Not if we have to watch Murton. Trade him while you can. He's a bad outfielder, no real speed and can't hit with men on. Pagan can fill his role and can play defense. But Pagan can't hit at all. He hits as well as Murton and at least has some power, which warning track Matt doesn't seem to have. Other than some OBP what does Murton add? Defense-no. Speed-no. power-no. Just what does he add other than misguided belief that he'll be some kind of star?
  18. Not if we have to watch Murton. Trade him while you can. He's a bad outfielder, no real speed and can't hit with men on. Pagan can fill his role and can play defense.
  19. Not a bad idea, but try Murton instead and it might get done.
  20. He refused to go to the minors the other day.
  21. Boston signs Michael Tucker Atlanta releases Craig Wilson Oakland releases Todd Walker
  22. I guess I'll wait until you are a believer.
