  1. VORP: Jim Edmonds in 103 PA: -6.3 Reed Johnson in 133 PA: -1.3 Felix Pie in 70 PA: -1.8 Cubs CF in 203 PA: -3.1 I'm not sure I can add these, but in twice the appearances, the Cubs current CF's have been 1/2 as sucky?
  2. Nobody is welcoming Edmonds with "open arms", it's the simply inevitable that Hendry will sign Edmonds. 99.999999999999999999999 to inifnity% of the Cubs fans would prefer to keep Pie up and not sign Edmonds. But Hendry/Piniella has a man-crush on Edmonds.... Actually, on the Tribune poll a full 39.6% endorse the move.
  3. Expanded Rob Neyer comments that essentially sum up the current thoughts...
  4. Here are Felix Pie AB by game for the last month... he has seen regular (>=3) AB in 8 of 27 games. He has had 0 AB in 10 games, and only 1 AB in 7 games. When exactly was Pie given a chance by Hendry/Lou et al? AB Apr. 13 0 Apr. 15 4 Apr. 16 0 Apr. 17 0 Apr. 18 0 Apr. 19 1 Apr. 20 1 Apr. 21 1 Apr. 22 5 Apr. 23 1 Apr. 24 3 Apr. 25 0 Apr. 26 1 Apr. 27 0 Apr. 29 1 Apr. 30 4 May. 1 1 May. 2 2 May. 3 2 May. 4 0 May. 5 3 May. 6 4 May. 7 4 May. 9 0 May. 10 0 May. 11 3 May. 12 0
  5. Small sample size alert, but BP recently listed the NL teams with the easiest schedules to date. The numbers are +/- predicted wins based on opponent strength vs peripheral stats alone. Higher numbers suggest easier than average opponents. I still only feel the Brewers are serious contenders - that team will eventually hit - see Braun's 4 HRs in 2 days. Cardinals 2.3 Marlins 2.1 Braves 1.7 Cubs 1.5 Phillies 1.0 Diamondbacks 0.6 Dodgers 0.4 Giants -0.1 Mets -0.2 Astros -0.2 Padres -0.7 Reds -0.9 Pirates -1.4 Brewers -1.7 Rockies -1.7 Nationals -1.8
  6. How is Fuld doing at Iowa? A sterling .192/.288/.269 in 52 ABs
  7. So does Johnson play for Soriano in the 9th?
  8. Your negative VORP leader at -10.4: Robinson Cano in 126PA .154/.214/.256 15K, 18hits (Also, since I'm looking, by VORP - Soriano currently sits as the 22nd worst offensive player in baseball.) Also in the big $$ category: look at Andruw Jones in 113PA: .163 /.274 /.255 34K, 16H, 1HR
  9. The Cards get Pujols to the plate on a groundout and Fontenot gets nailed at the plate on a bases loaded WP - God wears a StL cap to sleep at night.
  10. WTF! Pujols scores from 2nd on a groundout.
  11. That was payback for the blown call at the plate last half-inning.
  12. See Soriano, that's why you go to the wall, then jump.
  13. Soriano Theriot Lee Fukudome DeRosa Fontenot Soto Johnson Lilly Pie may never start again...
  14. Pick your poison - singles for the lead or a double or two?
  15. Honestly, you're nuts. I know, I know. Be careful what you wish for....
  16. From Spring Training: "He's been much, much better than I thought he'd be at this point," added Yost. "He's got an opportunity one day to win a Gold Glove in left field. He certainly does."
