  1. One of these days, I'm gonna have a heart attack watching one of these games just from all the tension.
  2. We've just got to make this interesting, don't we?
  3. My butthole tightened up a little bit when that one came off the bat.
  4. Hit hard, but right at 'em. Dangit.
  5. Macias with the GIDP. For heaven's sake, I wish Macias would strike out more.
  6. Blanco's average has jumped up 29 points tonight!
  7. You're not kidding. My entire group didn't sit in our seats after the 3rd inning. We just stood in the tunnel where it was nice and shady with a cool breeze. And it's not like it impacted our view... cause we had horrible seats anyways.
  8. I'll be at Saturday's game. My friend got a bunch of free tickets from work, so I got offered one. I don't know if I'd pay 50 bucks to sit in the sweltering heat... but I'll dish out $20 for water and a free ticket.
  9. I can't remember where I read it this morning, but apparently it might have something to do with Wil Cordero. I guess he was Livan's good friend or something.
  10. Does that mean it is time to go back to the dunn trade talk thread? If we dont get going this could be very painful to watch/follow. That's not going too well at the moment either...
  11. Is anybody else kinda hoping Bruce is channeling the spirit of the rest of the Chicago-media right now and is completely wrong? Bruce, I really wish I didn't know you're usually right.
  12. It's nice to know with 99.99% certainty now... but I wish it were the other way. Anyway, thanks for the info.
  13. Well, that certainly would explain why his name caught my attention... cause I had no idea where I'd heard it before.
  14. The man was just DFA'd by the Yankees a couple days ago... and it occured to me he could be a perfect fit for this club. Career line of .264/.348/.374 While that's not exactly amazing, it's certainly acceptible. He can play shortstop if we really need him to, but he's really good manning first, third, or second. Not to mention he hits right handed, which could come in handy considering how many freakin lefties we have. At the very least, he's the answer to the question: "Is there any possible way to get rid of Jose Macias?"
  15. Ok, since everybody is ga-ga to get something from the reds, lets try to look at this from their point of view. Randa is gone. It's just a question of whether they can get the pitching prospects they want at this point. But I'd put the odds of him finishing the season in Cincy at less than 5%. Freel is a natural 3B, if I'm not mistaken. They have Edwin Encarnacion coming up at 3rd base. Aurilia is useless. They still have 4 major league quality outfielders in Griffey, Dunn, Kearns, and Pena. The way I see this, O'Brien has always enjoyed having a lot of versatility. Hence why he hasn't traded any of his outfielders. Now lets' assume we get Dunn from them, and no other major leaguers. Outfield is full. Casey at 1st. Aurilia at 2nd. Lopez at SS. Freel at 3B. LaRue at C. Give them Hairston and they get an immediate upgrade at 2B, plus outfield depth in case of injury, which is likely. Next year, Encarnacion will be at 3rd. Figure to leave Hairston at 2nd, and all of a sudden Freel is able to play each position once per week. I'm not sure how I feel about it on a personal note, but it looks like something O'Brien would be in love with. Give them Mitre, who would be a good fit for GABP, and a high-level pitching prospect... and I think we're certainly up there with a reasonable deal.
  16. It's not necessarily that the Reds want Jody, but Jody could be replacing whomever they do want. If Corey fits the bill, Jody could conceivably fill in at center for the rest of the season. And if Hairston is the "established major leaguer"... well, again, Jody in center.
  17. Doesn't Freel have a foot injury that has the word "degenerative" thrown around when describing it? Actually, Freel called it his "degenerate toe" Maybe it was picking on handicapped kids or something.
  18. Wasn't it ARod who let Cal Ripkin Jr. play SS in his last all-star game? Even if it's not quite stepping aside, it's still a darn classy move.
  19. Somebody with more motivation than me should really create an online petition to have Dusty put in an insane asylum. I mean, really, Perez?
  20. Bartosh vs. Glaus Why on earth did he bring in our LOOGY to start the inning against a righty?
